Ike hit us in KY and tore the shingles off my roof. Maybe we should stop naming these with an "I".

We got that up here too... put about half a tree through the roof of my garage.

Went through that here a few years back. I had never experienced one and it was weird, but no damage. I hope all is well with you and your bunch.

I remember that quake. I've felt a few from the New Madrid Fault before, that that one about 3 or 4 years ago was definitely the biggest. I was asleep in bed, DW asked me what that was... I said it feels like an Earth Quake. She freaked out, I went back to sleep. We had some plaster crack, but that was it.

Did anyone else when they heard the Huricane named Irene immediately have the song "Come on Eileen" pop in their heads?

Oh really.....I'm the only one.....

Maybe... I can neither confirm nor deny that.

Didn't personally feel it here in TO, but it definitely was felt here, as I spoke with some friends who say they did feel the quake.

So most of us here in Raleigh felt the quake. I was in the bathroom so I missed it, but DW did text to say the house was shaking and swaying. Upon re-reading that sentence I think I should clarify that the bathroom I was in was not at our home.

I hope that all the other dads made is through safely. We're supposed to go waterskiing and wakeboarding this weekend on lake Gaston, but thank to Irene it looks like we will have a rousing weekend of working on puzzles with the family at a lake house instead.

We felt it at work and at home it knocked a kleenex box off of the cedar chest in our room. Meh.

Yeah like it isn't awkward enough for a guy who's 6'8 to walk around a room where all the chairs are a foot off the ground, I'll try to add covert photography to the mix. I swear it's like I'm Godzilla going through Tokyo every time I visit!!!

AC is fixed and things are cooler now. Whew! A good nights sleep in cool air. Those HVAC guys are bandits!!! 110 bucks my beverly!

That's about $70 cheaper than it cost me to fix all 1/8" or so of my broken tooth today.

did the hvac guy at least pat you on the butt before he left? i love summer and a/c season. people will pay anything if there house is 90 degrees. that was cheap.first hour service call around here is $90 and $75 per hour every hour after that. a well run, includeing a well run acts rec. dept. will net a company $30k per man per year. most companys around here run about 18 to 20k per man per year. till the tax man, insurance man and opec are done with the guy coming to your house, even at $75. per hour dont go very far.
