Time to call it a night
Hey guys. I am not hearing reports of too much damage. Over the entire area, some higher structures took some damage from, basically, swaying and cracking. The National Cathedral in DC actually seems to have take a pretty bad hit.
Two nuclear plants in VA have shut down operations pending safety checks.
Up here (about 100 miles away from the epicenter, which was in Mineral, VA), we got a pretty solid shaking for a minute or so, and just got some dust from the ceiling tiles on the desk.
It was impossible to make a cell phone call for a while, but Twitter and Facebook were amazingly useful. Love living in the future.
I heard the Washington Monument was affected by the earthquake. MSNBC reports it is leaning to the left, while FOX News reports it is leaning to the right.

Meanwhile the President said everything will be ok and he will address things when he comes back from vacation.
And a round of golf

The President will inform the people in his speech (when he returns from vacation) that the earthquake was on Bush's Fault.

What a stressful week so far...I'm glad that I'm done with the draft, at least. But it seems like I've got a ton more on my plate.
My recruiter informed me last week of a job opening up soon in the southeastern part of the country. It'd be a pretty sweet deal. It's for one of the biggest companies in Korea and I'd be getting about a 50% raise if I were to get it. Both my recruiter and my wife are working hard to get me ready for my interview.
If that falls through, however, I appear to be next in line at my current job to become head of the foreign teachers, which would include a slight raise, so if I lose out on this new job, I don't have to worry too much. The hardest part is keeping my mouth shut around my current coworkers. Seeing as how I'm only about 3 months into my year-long contract, my bosses would get pretty upset that I'm even looking at another job. But it's not that I don't like it here...it's just that this other job is such a great opportunity, I can't pass it up and not try for it.
Anyway, I should get studying before I have to teach my next class in an hour...
Cute! And as a bonus - you never have to sweep the floor again. Just teach the dog to lay on her belly as scoot.Newest member of the family...introducing Chloe!!!

If it wasnt for the several looming deadlines, I would stay on here.
Maybe Irene is the deadline he was talking about.Shouldn't you be evacuating?
