This is a two-fold post. First, it serves as a bump to save us from page 2. Second, I wanna give a plug for something that I bought at WDW a couple of years ago. We went to WDW one January, and it turned off a little chilly. While I was prepared with proper clothes, I didn't have a toboggan (hat, not the sled). While we were in the Norway pavilion, I spotted a red toboggan that fit the bill. Although it has tassels (apparently a European thing), it may be the best item that I have bought at WDW. The hat is a wool/Goretex, weatherproof hat. I've worn it in a driving wind and rain and a driving snow multiple times. Water beads up and rolls off and you are dry on the inside. Yeah, it's a little pricey at $50, but IMO well worth the price. I'm saying this because it seems like everyone has been under the snow and inclement weather gun as of late. So, if you need a high quality winter hat, might want to look for one in the Norway pavilion next time you are in WDW. I think that they've added a black color too, or at least it looked like they did the last time I was there. So, there is my shameless plug for a WDW accessory.

I will definitely concur with this plug! They have excellent cold weather stuff there in the Norway pavilion, because let's face it, the country deals with extreme cold and snow for about 5-6 months every year. My mom was born there, so I love most things Norwegian. (My own shameless plug for it based on my ancestry! :rotfl: ) I swear by my Made in Norway winter items! And YES, the tassels on the side are definitely a European thing.
The DIS unplugged last week had the guy ranting about souvenirs. To put my two cents in, I spent the last week looking all over WDW (except Downtown Disney) looking for a belt. I thought a practical souvenir would be great. Turns out, you can't buy a Mickey Mouse Belt. the only one they had was a plain, $40 brown leather belt (same as something from...wherever my DW buys my clothes from). I can't imagine more people need a new tie compared to forgetting a belt and needing to hold up pants for the rest of the vacation. And, my 2nd wish is to replace my Uncle Scrooge Money clip. I lost the one I got in 98, and would like a replacement. But NOPE, the only 2 offerings were a Mickey, and a WDW. Not "bad", but not what I want.

Gotta a PIN code...and my hospital bill for the December kidney stone. Guess I won't tell DW about the PIN code.

Ah, PIN codes. How I love and hate thee. (Love 'cause i want & would use, Hate 'cause I've never gotten one, and probably couldn't use it if I did.)

Crud, Beverly, peanut butter, and any other words that need to be said. Wrenched my back shoveling snow today at school (we have to clear sidewalks on snow days). Reported it to the super's office, then came home and made one quick movement while we were cooking supper and went straight to the floor. Pain was terrible. DW is a nurse, so she had me lay flat on the floor, and I got DD to get me an ice pack while I was laying there. I think that I was there for the better part of 45 minutes. Slowly and painfully worked myself to a sitting position up against the wall so that I could eat supper with my family. I'm back to standing and moving VERY slowly and gingerly but I can sure feel every movement that I make. Never had any back pain before, and man, if this is the way back pain is, I'll take a rain check from now on. Funny thing is, the only thing that I could think about was, "dang, this is gonna screw up getting to ride Space Mountain in 9 days." Down with the back and thinking about Disney:lmao: Geez................

Sorry to hear about the pain. Bursitis runs in the family and I get a flare up a couple of times each winter in my back. Docs always tell me to just double up on the Ibuprofen. :sad2:

Hope it gets a lot better in the next few days.

Too bad we can't all take a ride in the #7 jet! It would be better than RnR and ToT put together!
Anyway........HE PASSED HIS CREW CHIEF REVIEW BOARD with flying colors! He is now officially a Blue Angels Crew Chief!!!!! HOOYAH!!!! For those planning to take in a show this year, he will be working on the #1 jet, The Boss, and he should be traveling to about 1/2 of the 36 shows. He has definitely made us proud! Bravo Zulu, Son!:thumbsup2
That's AWESOME! Congratulations!

Done! You're in the lead!
Thank you! I really appreciate it!

In other news, I have pink eye! YAY! Despite our work in using hand sanitizer and lysol everywhere in the last week and a half, I just got infected. Grr. At least it's only in one eye and we still have a bottle of antibiotics. I feel like a leper - no one wants to be near me. It does, however, help me get more work done! :D

Stopher you heading to the World in Oct? Who else is going in OCtober? We are doing the cruise either the 6th or the 13th for 3 days then at WDW for 5 nights after that. Would love to set something up for then.

We are looking at heading down Oct 19 - 24th. I want to attend some of Tim Devine's Pixelmania events.

Talk to me Goose, what is this Tim Devine's Pixelmania you speak of?

It's an event that Tim Devine over at the Magic in Pixels hosts for Disney photography fans. It is basically a bunch of photography meets at different locations. I am interested in going to talk to other folks and maybe improve my photography.

I was hoping to attend in 2010 but was about a week too late in December. I'm in the process of sweet talking the wife into letting me, or me and one of my sons, head down in October.

Here is a copy of the schedule that they had for 2010.

Snow fell at a good steady pace last night And we got an ok amount. The temps arent to bad and the wind is a little gusty at times. The kids are off from school today, and all my wife has been able to do is look through the kitchen window all day. Lucky for me the weather isn't to bad out or I would have to let her in the house!! enjoy the snow guys

I hear Tim is going to need to tunnel out of his his by the time this storm is all said and done! Dave - Can you bring him your snow blower?? :cold:

That sounds totally cool. :thumbsup2 I wish I could come up with an excuse (and the funds) to attend some of those gatherings. :sad2:

Y’all remember to throw couple of extra logs in the hearth up that way, and if you need them, there are a few hundred-thousand snow shovels that just recently got purchased by the locals that will likely just be sitting in garages and rusting for the next five to ten years. :rolleyes1 Maybe we could send a couple of train loads of the things up to where they’ll do more good. :lmao:

We’re finally getting back to normal down this way. The snow is melting so fast that you need an umbrella to walk under the trees. If you’re within ear shot of any sizable stand of trees, it literally sound like there’s a rain storm going on in the distance. Ice will still cover the shaded spots and north side of the hills for a while, but everything else will basically be gone by this evening.

Another snow day home with the children. But, I did find the 2012 DVC point charts online. So, I get to spend some time planning the 2012 trip in between ringing the fight round bell for my girls. What happened to girls being so sweet?

Very true. :headache: It was only snow for about the first ten hours. Then it started sleeting and ended up as a long bout of freezing rain. :sad2: They kept the schools closed yesterday and today not for the snow, but because of the ice. We only see it this bad once or twice in a decade. (But of course, the current decade just got started. :rolleyes1)

Stopher you heading to the World in Oct?

I am new around these parts, but even I know that is it easier to ask Stopher when he will NOT be going to the World. :rotfl2:

BTW: My first page ownage!

Wait a minute. I thought you snowbirds never shut the schools down for something as trivial as a blizzard. :lmao:

Just came in from shoveling... man there is a lot of white stuff out there. We ended up with about 24''. I'll be back later and post some pictures. Time to take my DD outside and play for a little while before I have to try and drive a town over and shovel out my mom.

Hey Don.... we are going to build a igloo. I shoveled one part of my driveway into a huge pile. Now can I get my spare 37'' flat screen in there? :confused3
