Yesterday was national Peanut Butter day.



As for KY basketball, there is a collection of UL fans who live in Louisville. Most all the rest of the state and many in Louisville cheer for UK. Now, UK still has a ways to go in football. But, since UK plays in the SEC, the BEST football conference in the USA, that is a difficult task. I still cheer for all our KY teams - UL, WKU, EKU, etc. - except for when they play each other.

Have you seen the new UK limited T-shirts? They say, "I still hate Laetner".

I've watched replay after replay of Timberlake's chest getting in the way of his foot and I still can't believe that an intentional foul wasn't called and he wasn't thrown out of that game. By the way, I'm not a UK fan at all; I pull for UNC, so we have one thing in common; hatred for/of Dook.

Finally...someone that dislikes Laetner as much as I do! Now we just have to work on that Tar Heel thing.

You guys did beat us this year and I think that the UK/UNC series has been a good rivalry in the last several years. The only time I will ever cheer for UNC is when they play Douche......I mean Duke.

I love my DW more than I can say. And my 3 boys and baby girl really are amazing. However, once in a while, am I wrong for taking an evening away from all of them? I was signed up for a volleyball league through work, and missed all but 2 night. But man... those were a couple great evenings. No diapers, no "he stole my legos" no "fold the laundry and take out the trash" just... competitive sporting.

That's not wrong to enjoy that one evening a month (or so), right? (I also played a little guitar late, too. But I'm significantly better at volleyball than guitar)

I used to feel really guilty about it because DS was not in daycare so my wife was with him 24/7. And of course when it was time for the monthly poker night she would always say "Go, you work all the time, you need a night out." but in the back of my head I always felt bad (until the first hand was dealt)

Now that DS is in school all day it's a bit easier to call and say I've made some plans. Of course I got thrown a curve the other day, we realized that the Expedition Everest Race at Animal Kingdom isn't possible for a family trip since we can't take DS out of school then. DW says to me the other night "Well, why don't you go alone for the weekend?". I'm pretty sure this one is definitely a trap!

Not at all boB! Everyone needs some time away to recharge. We have found through time that we are both much better, more focused and better with each other and our kids when we each occasionally take that evening or afternoon off and do something for ourselves. Whether its out to a movie, shopping, hitting Starbucks, an activity like you mentioned or just taking a book to the park - those few hours are needed and valued.

Sometime I do feel guilty for doing just this. But she has her night with the choir so its only FAIR that I get night to myself too. Whether its going out with the guys or just going going downstairs with the BIL to play Call of Duty and blow things up. But you've got to!
Its the same concept as taking a vacation with just you and the spouse. You need a vacation every so many years away from the kiddos. We do it every 2-3 years. You need some YOU TIME!

Nothing wrong with it. In fact, I think I will finally start playing golf again in the spring. I used to play every weekend until DS was born. Now it's time to hit the links again. That will give me a little time away and some competetive sporting also.

Am if DW gets upset, I can blame it on you that you talked me in to it.

I believe there is a clear consensus on this one.

Time away from the house is good for your sanity (or lack there of as the case may be). So long as she also has a similar opportunity, then I see it not only as a good thing, but a moral imperative.

I just found the thread so I thought I would say hello. I'm currently sitting at my desk during lunch wearing a Tigger watch, reading the disboards, and listening to a twenty three minute recording of a ride through the classic Epcot attraction Horizon's. I have a lovely wife, three kids ages 15, 13, and 11, and a 4 year old pug that actually acts and smells more like an 80 year old man. Does that qualify me to be a DIS Dad???

I live in the suburbs of Detroit and don't get to the world as much as I would like. I always seeming to be planning a trip that has no dates attached. Anybody else do that?

Anyway it's nice to meet you all.

I agree with everyone else. My wife has her scrapbooking get-togethers, and I have my evenings of staying up until 3 am getting my butt kicked online by a bunch of 12 year-olds playing call of duty. Actually, my "me-time" rarely gets me out of the house- I might need to fix that. One time I planned to go camping alone for just one night. I got the car packed the night before and decided to watch a movie before bed. The Blair Witch Project. Camping trip: cancelled.

Howdy Kyle... I do believe that the Tigger Watch alone qualifies you for instant membership and a seat on the Board of Directors (assuming we had such). Welcome aboard. Emma’s Dad will be around in the near to assign you a DDC member number.
