Well after a week of figuring out timing and details, it finally became official yesterday, I will indeed be at the World next weekend. :cool1: I fly down early next Saturday morning, then some fun until Tuesday morning when I head up to Jacksonville for a couple of days of meetings. Ended up switching my day off for the MLK Holiday this Monday to be next Monday so I don't need to take use vacation or personal time for the personal add-on part of it, but that's okay by me. Looking forward to being there.

congrat stopher!! if you need someone to carry your luggage im available!:lmao:

I'm not asking for myself, but the town next to mine a Police Officer was slain today around 4:15pm. The location in Lakewood NJ is about 7mi from my house. My wife and son passed the spot on the main road within 5-10 mins of the shooting. On my way home from work I pass within a mile from where it happened and was passing through about 10mins after (huge police activiy cars with lights on passing everywhere:scared1:)

No details have been released on who or what happened, but I Pray the Officer has no children, I hate to see a family broke up because of something scenseless. No family should ever have to go through this. The Officer was doing his (or her) job, I hope the party invoveled is caught and brought to justice. My Prayers are going out to (his or hers) Family:littleangel:

sorry to hear that ron. there was just a female office just shot and killed.i quess she was bending over to pick something up or to get evidence and the guy shot her. its just out of hand. we will prayer for the officers family.:littleangel:

Great for you! Looks like I will miss you by a few days... we arrive the 28th.

My oldest dd turns 9 today. Basketball games today and birthday parties tomorrow. (Yes, I have to miss NFL games.) Long night of Upwards basketball practice. I coach both my girls teams, and have back to back 1 hour practices. Then, they introduced skills night last night and did not have enough coaches, so I stayed and helped with skills night as well. I am tired.

Happy birthday to your DD. :bday:

Sounds great. We'll be there Friday through Monday :thumbsup2

I resemble that remark sometimes. Hope things turn around for you.

Yesterday, I posted that we were going to have school and that I was unsure of how many kids would be there. Well, we had 91% of our student population there yesterday. On a Saturday. Actually, our car rider line yesterday morning was funny to watch. I open car doors every morning and talk to the kids and parents as the kids are getting dropped off. Yesterday, my greeting was "Happy Saturday morning." The kids would just look at me and mumble something; the parents had a HUGE grin on their face and would sarcasticly (most of the time) say "have a wonderful day, junior." However, it was a great day; our teachers got a TON of stuff done in class, the kids seemed to enjoy the day, and it was VERY quiet in the office :thumbsup2
I just hope Monday is as productive.

Gonna try this picture thingy again. A picture with our mascot:)

Looking back toward the entrance at Epcot. Getting ready to watch Illuminations. Both are from this past June's trip.

Disney also has a resort at Vero Beach. It is 219 points for 1 BR and 284 for 2 BR for a week. You could get a 1 BR since your youngest is under 3. Another perk of Vero Beach is that the resort is only 2 hours away from WDW. We did not do it, but we had friends last year stay at Vero for Fall Break and then go to WDW for MNSSHP and then back to Vero that night. If you can't do Vero, maybe another beach hotel on the Atlantic close to WDW, and you can talk them into driving in for a day.

I considered this. But Vero Beach is (about) 18 hours by car, and at $10 per point (to rent) that's $2840. (the computer booked me automatically for a 2 bedroom). I read a few TR about HHI, and it sounds like there is just barely not enough to do with little ones, 'cause you're JUST too far from the beach, and there's nothing going on (shopping/restaurants) ON the property. I'm looking for a good Vero Beach TR now.

Though again, :cool1:Thanks:cool1: and Mad Props to the DIS Dads:thumbsup2 (not that i'm cool enough to GIVE mad props) for helping me see my various not-really-Disney related Disney ideas. It may not be my 500th or whatever post, but you guys are great and helping feed my Disney Addiction. Now, if anyone wants to *Sell me a DVC contract for like...$25 per point, by all means, i'm listening... :)

Commando,
Millville is Memorial Day weekend (Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th). We're guessing our son will be there either way (working or his "home show"). If he is there, we will probably drive down both days, especially if it's his home show, but that's not for certain.
Hey, maybe this would be a good time for the DIS DADS meet!
Millville, NJ, 2011 Wheels and Wings Air Show

Mike, That would be fun! We might be able to do that!

I sent you both a PM. Would enjoy meeting up if your family schedules permit it...

Yep. Getting to that "hard to sleep" stage.

One right back at you. Looking forward to seeing you.

Oh, have a question. We're flying down carry on only, and we usually take our 32 ounce water bottles that we fill before we go into the parks. Will they let us carry them empty through security??? I'm saying they won't, but DW says they will.

Ok Dads...I need help/advice....As some of you know that we are Hilton Grand Vacation Club members and usually stay off site at one of the resorts nearby..My first question is are DVC properties RCI compatable? If so...has anyone ever tackled the process of making the RCI reservations with a Disney Property? Are you still able to take advantage of EMH even if your not a DVC owner? Do the condos have a washer and dryer in them??? We are thinking of going the second week of AQugust...have I waited too late to get something??? Whast are my best bets/???

Hey Steve, yes, DVC and RCI work together. There are often threads over the DVC boards talking about trading out of DVC into the RCI network and vice versa.

Anyone who stays at a Disney resort, no matter how they acquired that reservation, is eligible for the EMH's. Yes, 1BR and larger units have the washers/dryers - studios don't, but you there are guest laundry rooms that you can use for free. As for timing, I can't say. August is now 7 months away, so pretty much all of the DVC resorts are available to all owners (vs. the 11 month window for the owners of a particular resorts or Home Resort advantage). My advice would be to call your HGVC Member Services (or whoever it is that you arrange your stays through) and see what they have to say about trading out and the availability you might be able to find. I have not traded out...yet. Someday perhaps, but so far, no - we are using our points exclusively for DVC resort stays. In the future, who knows... that might change once in a while. Only time will tell.

Hey dads.

I'm back in Miami after 24 hours or so in the WDW area. If you're on Facebook you can check out some of my pics. I'll do a mini TR on here when I get back but the short version is I did Saturday afternoon / evening and Sunday morning with a 0.00 budget. It was fun trying to find ways to get a fixwithout spending money.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and Happy Martin Luther King Day tomorrow for those dads in the US.

Been gone for a while. Two quick things I wanted to say:
  1. CRUD
  2. Bear Down Chicago Bears!
