We had terrific weather for the air show at Joint Base Andrews yesterday. Since our son is interviewing for a crew chief position with the Blue Angels, he was able to get us into their VIP tent. We had tables under cover with hot dogs, chips and cold drinks and also a viewing area outside the tent with chairs. He was able to help them out during "morning turns", which is several hours before they actually perform. During that time, the crew chiefs check out the jets, including firing up the engines to make sure everything is in good running condition. Here are a few photos from the day. Our son is in the light blue shirt (since he is not part of the Blues, he is wearing his regular Navy fatigues). The photo of the jets is from a short video; it was captured while they were doing a barrel roll in front of us. We were also able to get a photo with all of the pilots after the show!
Cool Pics...glad you were able to enjoy this with your son .

He has really been enjoying this, Dave. This morning, he got a call from one of the LPOs at 5:00 AM and he was asked if he could come over to the base early to help them out again. He was there until around 7:30 tonight helping out with all kinds of stuff. They didn't even check the stuff they had him do; they trusted that it was done correctly. He will be working with them again tomorrow for the final day of the show and then they head back to Pensacola. This has been quite an experience for him!
Sounds like he's getting a "test run" for the Job...I hope it works out. Regardless I'm glad he got this opportunity to show them his stuff. Praying for the best here.
