I allowed my interest to get piqued by the thread about schools banning silly bracelets (which, for the record, I don't care about at all). The problem is that the thread tripped one of my MAJOR personal pet peeves, having dealt with the issues personally as a child, involving overbroad school rules. What could have been a reasonable discussion degenerated when one other poster insisted on posting information that is simply factually/legally incorrect, and I can't stand seeing the public get misinformed about core Constitutional principles.

I just popped over and read that thread. Way to lay the smack down, AJ! :woohoo:

Remind me not to get on your bad side. I'd never stand a chance against all those SAT words you can throw around! :rotfl2:

Yeah, she sees how much fun we have and she's trying to rally them up a little. She's not getting very far with it. :confused3

I keep bugging DW to get on there, maybe this weekend. I was bugging her the other day that she really should get a username and start posting, she replied by showing me that she already had a username and the join date was about a year and a half earlier than mine..opps.

Wow! You might have better luck training cats to play the piano than coax some intelligent thinking out of some of those people.

I'm surprised no one questioned you bringing Tinkerbell into it:)

I've got their pixie dust right here. :furious: pixiedust: :tinker:

The princess thing is pretty cool too, you'll definitely get some good picks he will thank you for one day. This past trip I wanted to eat at Akershus just because of the food. DW thought it was a little weird considering we only have a son and we were taking him to a Princess dining meal but went along. It was hilarious the way the princesses interacted with DS, I really think they get a bit tired of table after table of little princesses so when they get to a boy at a table they really interact. A tip would be to go to the gift shop in England, for about $8 you can buy a foam crown that kind of looks like the one Prince John had in Robin Hood. All the princesses referred to him as their prince charming (and DW and I as the King and Queen) and he was grinning ear to ear the whole meal!

That's a great tip! Thanks, I'll have to make a note to remember to do that. Squeaker would love that kind of attention, and best of all, The Bug likes seeing him get that kind of attention.

Ok...who sent the Strep germ up here???!! LOL Got a call from Laurens Doc today that her culture tested positive eventhough the told us yesterday it was negative...poor thing is sick as a dog and all she wasnt to do is cry....going to be a fun weekend here!!

On the vacation time subject...I am maxed out at 4 weeks a year and we have all the holidays and 2 elective days. We get 12 sick days a year but if you use them you are going to be in trouble!! You can carry over your sick time up to a total of 25 weeks. At least if you get really sick (or a stress fracture) you have a bunch to fall back on. I still have about 15 weeks even after being off all last summer. On ly one of us is allowed to be off at a time and we had a lady fired last week that worked with us for 28 years...so getting time off is even harder now. I think I might need to break my foot again!!!:)

PADISFAM2, come out come out were ever you are!!! not only did you wittness nhl history at the godden tonight, but they even spotted the big bad bruins 3 goal and still beat'em!!! :thumbsup2 FLYERED UP!!! who is Tuuka Rask?:cool1:

Wasn't me, Hope she gets well soon.

You got a nice package going there, I wish we could carry over days, they pay us for any unused sick time at the end of each year, vacations & personal days are use them or lose them.

My Dad had the carry over plan, when he retired the last year he only worked on Tuesdays since he had more days than they would pay for.

I was in PA on Mother's Day, I was still under the weather but since I paid for it we went. Had breakfast at SP with Jack Hannah & animal friends, It was awesome, he is really cool in person, if you ever get a chance to meet him I highly recommand it.

We have seen him 4 times know and He know's us by sight, came up to us and said hey great to see you again Thanks for coming:goodvibes

It was really windy and chilly out so we were only there for about 90 min. didn't stay to do anything in the park or stay for the show, but we had 1 on 1 time with Jack Hannah the animals, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Bert, Ernie And Abby. What else can you ask for, by noon I was back in bed:sick:

We had terrific weather for the air show at Joint Base Andrews yesterday. Since our son is interviewing for a crew chief position with the Blue Angels, he was able to get us into their VIP tent. We had tables under cover with hot dogs, chips and cold drinks and also a viewing area outside the tent with chairs. He was able to help them out during "morning turns", which is several hours before they actually perform. During that time, the crew chiefs check out the jets, including firing up the engines to make sure everything is in good running condition. Here are a few photos from the day. Our son is in the light blue shirt (since he is not part of the Blues, he is wearing his regular Navy fatigues). The photo of the jets is from a short video; it was captured while they were doing a barrel roll in front of us. We were also able to get a photo with all of the pilots after the show!

Did you all see the tragic news? :scared1: It's a Small World will be closed August to October, during our trip. Whatever will I do without getting stuck on the ride at the end when the boats are unloading, and I get to hear that song 10 times in a row!!! I guess I can go to Epcot and hear the Figment song. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/magickingdom/fan-small.htm

I was just talking about this with my wife this morning. On the one hand, it's an iconic attraction that we can all ride together, and we've never ridden it before. On the other hand - we won't get stuck with the earworm of all earworms.

Our conclusions:
1) We've never been before, so the kids won't know what they're missing to complain about it.
2) Woo hoo, no earworm!

My only remaining concern is that no iasm may mean longer lines for the remaining "little kid" rides, like Dumbo.

He has really been enjoying this, Dave. This morning, he got a call from one of the LPOs at 5:00 AM and he was asked if he could come over to the base early to help them out again. He was there until around 7:30 tonight helping out with all kinds of stuff. They didn't even check the stuff they had him do; they trusted that it was done correctly. He will be working with them again tomorrow for the final day of the show and then they head back to Pensacola. This has been quite an experience for him!

Three months to refurb? Guess it's not as small of a world as they thought.:confused3
Well see...the problem is...the song never stops playing...EVER...so for the safety of the work crew they are only submitted to 30 minutes every 2 hours...very long process...but OSHA requires it. :lmao::lmao::lmao:
