Well guys, this might be the only time that you'll hear me say that im happy about moving my trip to Disney back. After long hard thought, my DW and I have decided to move our trip to the first week of December so that we can be there during my DS's birthday! I am so excited for him. He loves Disney probably 100000000 times more than me and thats saying a lot. Now I have a question. I have heard about a pirate makeover. Has anyone else done this and can you give me some info. I think that he would love something like that.

Did you check out the Disunplugged blog entry about it?
http://www.disunplugged.com/2009/07/02/the-pirates-league-debuts-at-magic-kingdom/

Up to this point, I have really enjoyed listening to the DIS Unplugged podcast, but it seems to me that the negativity and nitpicking has become almost the entire show now - it's almost like they have become so jaded that they can't see the forest for the trees anymore. I just don't get it...

The 8/5 show was definitely negative. Some people on the podcast board seem to get excited when Pete rants, but it gets a bit draining if you ask me. I do like the fact that they will point out the flaws in Disney. (Unlike some other Disney podcasts I've tried to listen to, which elevate everything Disney does to god-like status.)
Most of us on this board live quite a distance away from Central Florida, and if we're lucky, can afford to go only a couple of times a year at the most. Every time we go, we see and experience the magic. Perhaps living that close, they're taking those things for granted and becoming used to it - jaded, as you say. It's hard to keep things exciting and new when you're surrounded by it 24/7.
I'd like to believe they are nit-picky and negative because of their love of Disney. If they see something that they believe to be "un-Disney-like", they'll call the company out on it.

hay, it looks like im at 59 days and counting friday. i just noticed that!:cool1:

I'd like to add another perspective on this. I'm not up to the 8/5 podcast yet, still in July catching up, so not sure what is being referred to here.

But I and many other Australian disney fans I know, spend a fair bit of time on these and other boards based in both Florida and Anaheim. The overuse of negative comments and criticism of the parks (both WDW and DLR) tends to bother us as well.

Obviously our trips are not regular, and in alot of cases, not even annually. We tend to go every 2 or 3 years, so when we get there we like to immerse ourselves and really enjoy it as much as we can. We do notice the issues, things like poor maintenance and expensive prices and other things that do go wrong, but we don't dwell on it. When we read and hear these comments from the regulars, we do tend to get frustrated.

I understand that Disney need to hear this feedback to ensure continual improvement for the guests' experience, and these boards are an ideal place to provide that feedback, but like anything else in life, moderation is the key. We don't always expect glowing mindless praise, but we also don't want to continually hear the bagging either.

It's pleasing and refreshing to every now and then see and hear about people really appreciating the ready access to something that we crave daily but experience rarely.

Sign me up too.

I've read through a bunch of the qualifications but never saw...

You have your favorite princess (Belle), it's also my son's favorite, and it's not the same as your daughter's (Ariel).

Both interesting, and I think accurate, takes.

I did not do shirt designs, but bought matching t-shirts when they were on sale. With DW and two DDs, I tried to find shirts everyone liked and matched. But, I had to match girl and guy t-shirts. So, DW and DDs have matching Minnie tees and I have Mickey; matching Daisy tees and I have Donald; matching Tinkerbell tees and I have Grumpy. I guess they don't make Tinkerbell shirts in men's sizes. :rolleyes1 I do have the matching "Disney" word tees and Goofy shirts. DD5 does not want to wear Goofy because it is a boy's shirt.

Ok, dads..

Time for me to live vicariously through you guys for another 4 months...

We'll be headed to DW when I return from Iraq in December (thank God before Christmas and before my son's two year birthday)..

How do you get over the feeling that you're missing everything at home while you're sitting in the desert?? Well, you don't...I make my wife take lots of pictures and take lots of video....first month is always the hardest to get through...

You guys enjoy your trips, and I'll see ya in January (after I catch my breath at home just a bit:rolleyes1)

:thumbsup2 we have done the matching t-shirts thing a few times. the hollow. and christmas disney t shirt would be the only thing we could all agree on. the one year our dd danced in the mk, the studio had shirts made up for the trip for the parents. the dads on the front said "do you know who i am". on the back it said something about the dance bank act. or something i dont remember. anyway, be prepared if you walk around with a question on the front of your shirt!i think every cm i passed (the one day i had the shirt on) came up to me and said, no who are you? all those people and the cms could pick me out of a crowd with this thing on. :lmao: to top it off, it was jet black! not to many people walk around dw in july with a jet black shirt on!
