hay mike, how did you like keys to the kingdom? my dd and i are doing the tour in oct. my dw wouldnt go so ive been waiting for 16 years!!

The KttK Tour was really good and I would recommend it. It probably lasted 5 or 6 hours or so and included juice/snacks before we started and lunch at Harbour House. I believe we were given a special pin during lunch. We entered some attractions without any waiting, including going in a "back door" at the Haunted Mansion. We also did the utilidors, which wasn't quite as exciting as I had hoped but interesting never-the-less. We also got to go behind the fences to Splash Mountain and the building where the parade floats are stored, plus other things. The entire time, we were being fed Magic Kingdom trivia by a very knowledgable tour guide.
The Segway Tour was also great. That one lasted 2 hours with one hour of training and one hour in the WS before it opened. The only complaint with that one is that it can be tough on the calves/knees, especially if you are older. You're basically standing on the Segway platform for much more than an hour without much of a break, if any. I really enjoyed it, though, and would do it again. It also included a special pin with a Segway that slides back and forth. Pretty neat and a valuable pin collector's item from what I hear.
You'll enjoy the KttK Tour! Back then, it was no cameras allowed but I don't know if that's still a rule or not.

Ha! Well, having to drive around the circle may be worse than having to test with a trooper! We had to get up to Forks yesterday and I avoided the circle, as usual. It's really bad during the "tourist season". Too many people can't figure it out, even with the cones down there now. BTW, I used to play softball with your superintendent, Mr. Lesky. Haven't seen him for many years, though. He was our shortstop and always reminded my of Bucky Dent!

I guess we'll be neighbors in October since we'll be right up the road at POFQ! Maybe we'll bump into each other somewhere. We're planning the following:
Mon: EPCOT Tues: MK Wed: AK (Bob Jackson night) Thurs: DHS Fri: Park Hopping
Our son was home over the weekend and he said he's starting to get excited. He hasn't been to WDW since he was 8, nineteen years ago. Our countdown timer says "2 Months" today! :cool1:

We're taking a 4:00 PM flight out of Philly on Sunday so we'll be starting with the parks on Monday. Depending on how late we get checked in, we might go down to DTD for dinner at Wolfgang Puck's Express.

I played softball back in the mid to late 70's in the Easton and Palmer leagues. I don't remember that tournament or the pub from softball, although I have heard of the pub. We certainly visited our share of them after our games! In the 90's, before we got into Search and Rescue, I played several years in the Senior Men's Baseball League, over 30 and over 40 leagues. The last year, I was the catcher for an over-40 team and wrecked my knees! I wish I had skipped that season! :rotfl: Now, our extra curricular activity is mainly Geocaching.

Thank you for that report! I've been considering KTTK and Segway for our next trip. Can you say a little more about the KTTK tour. Would love to know more about it.

I'll try. It started at City Hall with light snacks and juice/coffee. There were probably 10 or 12 of us in the tour group. We started out walking down Main Street with our guide filling us in on the architecture and trivia about Walt Disney Company and the park. I remember doing the Jungle Cruise and Pirates as well as the Haunted Mansion with instant access. It seems like we may have done another attraction as well but I'm not sure (this was 2002). At some point, we entered one of the stores on Main Street and proceeded through a door into the "behind the scenes" part of the tour. I think that's how we got to the Utilidors. We also spent some time behind Splash Mountain, where we learned about the pumping systems, etc. After that, we were taken to the building where the parade floats are stored and given a lot of info about them. Another CM walked by (I don't know if it was planned or not) and it turned out he often played Goofy, Captain Hook and some of the other taller characters. He gave us a bunch of neat info about the characters before we headed off again. We had a light lunch at Harbour House where we received our pins and we then finished off the tour. We got to see Tink's landing zone among other things.
There may be some updated threads here on the Boards' Trip Reports section regarding the KttK Tour. I don't know if much has changed or not.
Our only concern regarding the tours was getting to them. We only had Disney bus transportation so we were dependent on that. We were almost late for the Segway Tour as a bus didn't show up at POR for EPCOT until the last minute. As with the Segway Tour, if you have "old" legs, the KttK Tour may be difficult because you are on your feet 90% of the time. Since you seem to walk a lot, it shouldn't be a problem! Aside from that, the tours were great! I would highly recommend both of them.

MiJo: thanks again for a great report! Sounds like fun! I've asked my TA to book us for KTTK and Segway based on your recommendation.

My wife told to join a support group so here I am... not sure if this is what she had it mind since it probably goes in the wrong direction, but hey one step at time - sign me up!!

Father of two and just discovered Disney about five years ago - very cool and can't believe I have been missing this. Hope my kids appreciate as much as I do.

Nope - this is exactly what she had in mind. We support you 100%! Welcome to the club!

Not been here long myself, but have enjoyed it. This is a great group!

74 more days and counting to this year's trip. In addition to planning this vacation, I planned DVC resort visits through 2013. We joined last year, and my goal is to visit them all (in Florida and HHI). DW thinks I'm obsessed -I told her that was the idea.

G'day guys, thought I'd join in and share some news for our next trip. We're not at WDW till Dec next year, but our PAP arrived the other day. I bought them just before the price rise. These next 16 months or so will fly by I'm sure, but to get the APs is certainly an exciting part of the planning!

:upsidedow

Well guys, this might be the only time that you'll hear me say that im happy about moving my trip to Disney back. After long hard thought, my DW and I have decided to move our trip to the first week of December so that we can be there during my DS's birthday! I am so excited for him. He loves Disney probably 100000000 times more than me and thats saying a lot. Now I have a question. I have heard about a pirate makeover. Has anyone else done this and can you give me some info. I think that he would love something like that.

Up to this point, I have really enjoyed listening to the DIS Unplugged podcast, but it seems to me that the negativity and nitpicking has become almost the entire show now - it's almost like they have become so jaded that they can't see the forest for the trees anymore. I just don't get it...
