Is " The Dig" included in one of the shore excursions?

The dig is included in the "Discover Atlantis" excursion. It is a guided tour through the atlantis resort including the dig... I thought it was a little rushed but once the tour is over you are free to re-enter any of the areas to look on your own time.

I too have read that the tour can be 'rushed'. And, since it involves quite a bit of speed-walking, just to get to the dig. So, I wonder, if you take a taxi on your own, directly to the ATLANTIS, and then pay the $25.00 (or show your Atlantis wristband) to go through the dig, do you go through with a tour guide, just like the people who are on an excursion. Or, do you simply go through on your own?

DS (5) would definately enjoy taking his time to spot every little detail and watch the fish, etc. He would NOT enjoy it as much being ushered through at a faster pace, along with a group of people.

Oh you have said the magic word! Visiting Atlantis and the Dig was the highlight of visiting Nassau for us.

Now, you don't have to do the official excursion- Nevermind the overcrowded boat to shuttle you over.

The very best way to visit Atlantis and the Dig is on your own. Just take a taxi ($4+bridge toll, currently $1) over to atlantis, they are plentiful both at the end of the dock and at the resort.

Once you arrive, just go to the center of the casino to a kiosk with a large blue globe hanging over it(The Temple of the Moon) and pay $25 each to get wristbands.

One note about the Casino - There are very few slot machines below $1, so be prepared to drop big money to play.

You are now free to do the Dig at your own pace, and to wander the entire resort, except you cannot use the water amenities.

And be prepared for a LOT of walking, but it is very much worth it!
