The different disney smells

For me, it's the smell of Splash Mountain...musty water I guess. There's a little garden center near my house that has an indoor waterfall feature on display and it smells just like Splash Mountain. My DH thinks I'm a weirdo because I like to stand there and enjoy my WDW moment... :goodvibes

I love the smell of the musty water in the boat rides! Last time I smelled it was by a little waterfall in the Coldwater Creek store in our local mall.

I thought this was just me! The smell of the fountain in the middle of my local mall here in the UK takes me right back to Disney.... :)

The smell of the Tiki Torches Burning on my walk to the Spirit of Aloha at the Poly!!
The smell of the Busses!
The smell of the dust in Haunted Mansion!
The smell of Main Street!

popcorn:: :happytv: :artist: :beach: :drive: pixiedust: :rockband: :drinking1 :genie:

the fat n greasy smell of hot dogs roasting at Casey's; the fragrance of roses from the castle garden; the whiff of oranges from Soarin'...

:tink:

I know that Test Track smell indeed!

Aside from the obvious wonderful smells of popcorn on main street and the candy smells from the confectionery, I remember all sorts of smells. For instance, and don't laugh, the moldy air conditioner smell from most of the attractions. Floridians love that air conditioning...they keep it downright frigid. The smell of the Yachtsman Steakhouse gearing up while you're swimming in Stormalong Bay. I can smell Bernaise sauce. Ohanas...that's another one. You can start to smell the meat cooking while you're swimming and relaxing at the Poly.

The moldy boats at Splash Mountain.

Oh...and the steam from the WDW railrood. I love that one.

We do this ALL the time!

After the smoke started settling from the 4th of July fireworks (here at home), my dad said, "Smells like Rome"

The most distinct smell I remember from my first trips as a kid--the orange smell in Horizons.

There was also a smell to Imagination (back in the first Figment version) that I remember, but can't describe.

I do this all the time! My DBF thinks I'm crazy but he'll see soon enough. He's making his first trip one month from today!

Just the other night I was out to dinner with my sister and we ordered cheese fries with bacon on them (yum!) and as soon as she took a bite she said, "You have to try this bacon, it smells like Spaceship Earth!" Sure enough, it was exactly like Rome burning! I love things like that!

How could I forget the orange smell in Horizons! I LOVED that ride because of the smell. I was so glad when Soarin' opened and it had smellovision.

They should put more smells in the rides-besides the musty water smells, that is!

I love this thread! I think it's hilarious!! I think I have one of the ultimate distinct smells...EPCOT, Spaceship Earth, one of the first scenes you see right after the cavemen the ride reaches a part where it gets pretty musty and it smells just like bacon bits! And if youve been on this ride before, you know exactly which spot Im talking about!! You cant miss it!
Hulagirl87...which face wash smells like the Polynesian?? Ive been there so many times before and know exactly which smell youre talking about but I had no idea that there was a face wash that smells like it...please share! :)

Great Thread….for me it’s the gardenias around the castle. What a wonderful Disney smell. :cloud9:

Oh and the water too….it gives even the restrooms a smell that sends me right back to the early 70s. ;)

I love the smell inside Space Mountain. Since I was a kid it has always reminded me of the way that space "would" smell (although I obviously have no idea). :)

Also, I love the smell inside Snow White's Scary Adventures. What about the Tommorrowland Speedway? Thunder Mountain Railroad also has a distinctly "old west" smell to it. :)

There are so many others, but I also do love the Pirates of the Carribean and how it smells like an old pirate ship's cargo hold. :rotfl:

- The smell of fudge and caramel apples at the Confectionary on Main Street

- The smell of Biergarten - saurkraut and beer!

- The smell of Epcot in general during flower & garden festival

- The smell of Epcot in general during food & wine festival

- The smell of the waterfront at downtown disney...love to sit at a table with a margarita and just chill out, overlooking the water

- I KNOW there are more, just can't think of any more at the moment

I am laughing SO hard at this thread. My dh and I took our first trip last Nov. (before that I was anti-Disney and thought it was just another theme park) and he thought I was NUTS because I kept smelling everything. We weren't aware of the smellovision technology, and he only smelled the stinkbugs on ITTBAB, Rome on SE, and the burnt forrest on Kali. He really thought I lost it when I told him I could smell manure during the France movie. He would think the rest of you are off your rockers, tee hee hee.

BTW, to the person who was upset about the musty smell being gone from POTC in DL last summer, it was still musty in WDW last Nov., but I doubt it will be after the renovation!

My favorite smell?? Hmmm.... it is funny, because for me it is more in how things FEEL.

Actrually Yes I have noticed. One thing that is meant to happen is that you know the first smell you have when you walk under the train station into magic kingdom, its popcorn. They do this on purpose. The red pavement is the red carpet, the train station is the curtain and theres a popcorn seller right to your left when you walk in (depending on what side you walk into of course :)) Which is done because its a show, like on the windows are the opening and closing credits of imagineers and Walt Disney himself has his name up there, and is the only name to face Cinderella's Castle. Ok, I'm done now because I can go on for hours about the set up of Main Street USA is. popcorn::

Love the smell of donuts when you walk into Typhoon Lagoon. :thumbsup2
Mmmmm....water park....

It's really funny that I stumbled on to this thread. I couldn't sleep last night so I started thinking about our upcoming Disney trip  . I got to thinking how we rushed a bit last time and this time I want to take the time to smell things and Soak up the environment a bit more. I'm glad to know I'm not crazy!!

Y'all are going to think I'm nuts, but there is a certain cleaner that they use at WDW (I've smelled it only a few other places). I posted the question a few years back about what it was called, and a CM responded with the name of it but I forget what it was. Does anyone else know the "cleaner" smell I speak of? Most of the places there smell like it. Love it! I'd clean my house with it if I could!

I haven't been able to stop thinking about Indy Speedway since I cut the grass yesterday--I can't get the exhaust smell out if my head/nose.

I can still feel and smell the old powdered soap they used to have--gosh, I miss that stuff!
