The different disney smells

One of my most vivid memories as a child involves this very topic!
I was about 8 yrs old and we were staying at the Contemoprary. We had left the pool and had opened the door to enter the main building when a whaft of cool sweet smelling air drifted across my whole body.

Every now and then when entering a building in the summer that will happen again and I am instantly transported back to that moment in time when I was 8 yrs old at WDW. Thats when I say "it smells like the Contemporary in here". My DH thinks I'm nuts :confused3

this is a great thred, I so know what you all mean about the buses, test track and space mountain. I often say to DH that I can smell Splash Mountain ! and what about the smell in the Christmas shops - bliss

my DH recently ran out of cologne so we all (me him and the 11 year old boy) went to the mall and among other things did some cologne shopping. spray the little cards and sniffs all around. We settled on one because it reminded all 3 of us of the light clean pine scent in Soarin. (if only i could remember the name of it now?!?!?)

Hmm - i wonder if i will get all girly and weak when i go on Soarin next time like i do when i sniff my hubbies neck?!?!!?

- lori

I am glad to see that I am not the only one that misses the smell of the oranges for Horizions.... I was very happily suprised to smell the oranges at the new soarin ride however it is just not the same.... Love it but there isonly one orange smell for me.....

How about the smell of the Back Lot Tour as your going through Catastrophe Canyon?

I love the smells of Disney. Thanks for the thread. I've made a list of things I want to do this time at Disney that we never get to do and now I have using my senses to create more memories.

The cleaner they use is my favorite... I've smelled once or twice in other places and it makes me want to return to the world. A few years back I drove through orlando, but couldn't afford to go to disney, so I stopped in DTD and got a whiff or two of the stores

The monorail also has it's own smell and sounds (see my signature)

Gotta love poly lobby... Takes me back to my teens instanatly

My wife who didn't know what disney was until we went in 2000 now calls it the pot of gold. And recently someone mentioned AKL and my son immeadiately blurted out can we go back right now!

I love the smell of the musty water in the boat rides! Last time I smelled it was by a little waterfall in the Coldwater Creek store in our local mall. I kept wandering back there to get a whiff and my mom finally asked me what I was doing. I told her "Sniff, it smells like Disney! She replied with the "mom" agree (trying to be supportive but really thinking I had lost it).

OT, but I love your birds! Your macaw is stunning and is that a wee little conure I see? We have two parrotlets and are getting a pionus, so know the love of feathery children.

And not OT, whenever I smell that recycled water smell, I immediately am taken back to Pirates at DL. I adore that smell.

I always use the same shower gel when i go to disney. If i ever feel low then i buy some, perks me up straight away!
The smell of the monorail is a good one, reminds me of disinfectant.
The smell of food in philarmagic-is it an apple pie smell?gorgeous.
The smell in the air after fireworks.

:rotfl2: I bought the new scent of shower gel and lotion from bath and body works, Tropical Coolata, and when I first took a whiff of it I thought of Disney! Then I remembered.....I had that scent with me on out last trip to Disney!! It's really weird how certain smells can remind you of something! :sunny:

I'll have to check out that scent!

Oranges on Horizon used to be one. Also, the smell of Living with the Land and right after the fireworks stopped popping. Love it!!

haven't read them all but...

my favorite smell used to be those old style bags they had. I always remember shopping in the emporium, picking out and purchasing that coveted souvie and then - I got my own bag that smelled...well Disney! It was a white bag with colored pic on the bottom of the bag...oh how I wish I had one now!

COOKIES on Main Street! Fire in Space Ship Earth. Pirates smells MUSTY love it! Sunscreen smell always reminds me of Disney. ANd I always wondered if they would fix that stench in the monorails???? Does smell like bandaids!!!

I have this SoftSoap body wash that is called Milk and Honey and I dont know what about it, but everytime I open it I take a big sniff cuz it reminds me of Disney. Now, I live with my DBF and as often as I want to tell him this, I would never cuz he'd think I'm crazy. But the other day, he was in the shower and decided to use my bodywash and guess what he said??? "This soap smells like Disney"... Can you believe that??!!!

I do it all the time! Just last night when walking out of the new hotel where i live, i smelled like Disney at park closing when the sweepers are going by.

Don't know if this was mentioned before, but....

Disney actually pumps smells into certain areas of the park. That wonderful smell of freshly baked cookies on Main Street in MK...guess what? it is artificial.

My best friend told me about this when she was working at WDW. I told her not to tell me anymore WDW secrets because I don't want to spoil the magic :)

I'm not sure if this is it but there is a cleaner called "Fabuloso" that is used in at some companies and hotels and most people love it. Again, no idea if Disney uses this, but it has a fan following.
I've got some "Fabuloso" and either it comes in different scents (mine's purple) or Disney doesn't use it-I like the smell, but it doesn't remind me of Disney.
The smell that does remind me of Disney is caesar salad dressing. That's because for years I loved going to CRT for lunch and always ordered the same thing-chicken caesar salad. I loved it! Sadly, they don't serve it there anymore (this was pre-characters at lunch).
