Katrina called me about two weeks ago and said "Mom, you aren't going to believe what I found at work!" She works at Payless Shoes (about two weeks now). She was at work in the mall and one of the other girls asked her to come over to look at something on the floor. She gets over there and it is a ......

are you ready for it???? ........................................

baby turtle! They have no idea how it got in the store in the middle of the mall in the middle of a huge parking lot. It is the cutest little thing.

ETA: For those of you that might not know this, my DD loves turtles (not the kind Denise likes). Katrina practically has a shrine to them. She also has a live, large turtle that lives at home with us while she is off at school.

So, is the baby turtle coming to your house to live?

Colby loved Cars and it was really a good length for a 3 1/2 yr old. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with kids.

I went fabric shopping today. Colby has had the same 2 blankets since birth and one is starting to fall apart. They are ones that I made for him, cotton print on one side, fleece on the other and a satin binding. Both are light blue (one Winnie the Pooh and one Bunny). He drags them everywhere. I've made others since, but he refuses them unless his favorites are in the wash. He finally agreed to let me make him a replacement blanket, much larger as he is getting so big. The catch is that he wants Donald Duck fabric. I can't find Donald Duck fabric other than small amounts on ebay for high shipping costs. Anyway I saw the Cars fabric at Walmart and thought that he would like it. His bed is a little tykes racecar bed so I thought the theme was perfect. So I bought the fabric. I ended up going to Kmart and they have all kinds of stuff for Cars. They even had a Cars toddler bedding set. I ended up buying it and the wall decals and the Cars lounger. His room now has a Cars theme. I'm thinking of using the fabric that I bought for valances instead of a blanket as he is still insistant on Donald Duck for his new blanket. So if anyone sees any Donald Duck fabric please keep me in mind. I did see a tropical print at Joann's with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy, but I'm still hoping for just Donald.

Deb

It's amazing how little merchandise there is for Donald! We spent so much time looking for stuff for Jacob and there was nothing! No wonder Donald is always so cranky! He truly gets no respect!

The girls at work gave me TURTLE soap and several other turtle things. I told them about y'all and the turtle joke, so now I get kidded about it everywhere. I think the turtle will be my mascot. Maybe I should get a turtle tatoo?

When we went to see Cars, I didn't think it was all that long, but I forget that some people have kids younger than mine. :rotfl2: We didn't make it completely through the credits cuz when Abi's gotta go you gotta go!!

We got the Cars soundtrack and it's getting almost equal play time as High School Musical. Over half is just instrumental but it is a wonderful recording.
I can't wait for Cars to come out on DVD. I can watch it over and over again. I don't say that often.... :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Well, this must be the day for bad news. I just got off the phone with my dad. His cousin, and best friend, committed suicide this morning. "Uncle" Richard never married, was eccentric (that's the nicest way to put it), and didn't really have any friends other than one sister and my family. Recently, he "decided" he had cancer. However, he never got it diagnosed by any doctor. He'd been making cryptic remarks about "taking care of the problem", but we thought we'd talked him out of it.

I guess this morning, he decided he didn't want to be a burden to anyone (as if), so he went to the cemetery with his shotgun, and shot himself. My dad is really shaken up, and is now blaming himself. I tried to tell him that uncle Dick made the choice to end his life, and there was nothing more that any of us could have done. We've opened our homes and hearts to him for the last 76 years, but in the end, it was his decision. It's cold comfort for my dad, though.

I hate to see dad going through this. It was just last year that he lost his sister to cancer. He's really having a hard time. If you could add him to your prayers, I'd be grateful.

Thanks for letting me share this.

Hey all - popping in to say Hi

Tammi - :grouphug:

I think what Steffy meant when she said to make sure your lawyer was good - was to make sure he will get you all DVC points in any settlement!!! ;)

Amy - hoping the house sells this week!

Jen - Hoping the move is going well - did you wave when you passed my house?

Denise - I am so glad Rees is doing so great!!

Vicki - I hope things look up for Chuck soon!!

The festival was okay - not very crowded but my part went well! My knee is KILLING me!

Did I miss anything - probably - to be honest once I read about Tammi - everything else seemed fuzzy to me!! It is nice to see that when one of us hurts - the rest of us care so much!!!

I've been wondering about the festival all day today. I'm glad that your part went well, and more importantly, that it's over. I bet you're glad, too. Take care of that knee! When my knees hurt, I don't feel like doing anything.

Good to see you around here, today!

Thank you for all of your Birthday wishes I greatly appreciate them.

I went to Red Robin for my Birthday lunch. I got my free Whiskey BBQ chicken burger because I am signed up for their Birthday club online and they brought me a huge slice of their Mudd Pie, it was delicious. I also went to Hersheypark, I had a great time at lunch and at Hersheypark, except I got a headache, plus I happened to be a real Klutz today.

On the way out of Red Robin, I rammed my knee into a bench, at Hersheypark my ankle started giving out on me, it happened about 4 times, the one time I almost fell, I'm thinking it might have been the shoers I was wearing, as I normally wear sandals. I will have to monitor my ankle to see if it does it again, as it didn't even do this right after I sprained it last year. Since I had a headache the whole time at Hersheypark I didn't really ride any thrill rides like I normally do the only one I rode was Lighting Racer.

Getting onto the train I hit the front of my head on the roof. To top it off when I sat down on the Reese's Extreme Cup challenege I klunked the back of my head on the seat when I sat down. I don't know what was with me today but I was mighty Klutzy :confused3

Reese's Extreme Cup Challenge is like the Buzz Lightyear ride except there are two cars attached together, each car holds 4 people. One is for team Hershey bar and the other is for team Peanut Butter Cup. They are challenging against each other to see if Peanut Butter or Chocolate is better. It is a neat ride but the targets are hard to hit. Everyone gets a piece of candy at the end.

I came home and took a nap to rid myself of the headache and now I am awake and headache free as I was called by my Aunt to wish me a Happy Birthday. I hope I get back to sleep as tomorrow, I must go to work in the morning to do weekly paperwork since my manager is away and leave and then go back to close.

I really did have a good Birthday despite the headache and me being super Klutzy. :rotfl2: :lmao:

I'm so happy you had a great birthday, even with the klutzy stuff.

My family was at Hersehy Park today too.

Thanks. I'm sure dad will be ok, eventually. Suicide is just such a selfish thing. As for the cancer, I really think that was a secondary issue. Lately, uncle Dick felt like his life just wasn't worth much. He was all alone, and not enjoying it as much as he had in his youth. The sad thing is, he really wasn't alone. My parents had him over to the house for dinner 5 nights a week, my brother was always taking him hunting, or out to his ranch for a barbecue to play with the babies. I think he just really dreaded dying alone, and took this way out. It's so sad!

Well, it's off to bed for me now! I've finished up all the laundry and packing for our camping trip tomorrow. We'll be gone until Saturday afternoon. I'll try to check in tomorrow morning, and I'll definitely check in Saturday night.

Until then, :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: for Tammi! These next few days will be rough, and I'm just sick that I won't be here for you. Please know that I'll be thinking about you all the time, and praying for you and the kids each and every day!

To the rest of you: Hold down the fort, and take care of each other! Love ya, all!
