Apparently I'm having a P3. I have to work tonight and then a large group of us are going out to celebrate one of our friends turning 21. This is a really big deal for her. She has been a bartender for years and now she can legally drink. She actually went out last night (this morning) at Midnight and celebrated until 2 AM. Oh to be young again. Anyway Chris and I are actually going out too. I can't remember the last time I was in a bar other than the one I work at so this should prove interesting. My parents are watching Colby and Hunter and Nick is going to a friends for a birthday party sleepover. This is his first sleepover at a friend's house so I'll be armed with my cell phone just in case. Any whoo I'm sure I'll be home early (tomorrow morning that is :rotfl2: ) and I'm not sure what condition I'll be in when I get home so I won't talk to you all until sometime tomorrow. :drinking1 :headache:  :crazy2: :scared: :faint: :confused3 :goodvibes The smilies show my possible conditions :rotfl:

Have a quiet evening.

Deb

Our church is having a dinner/dance tomorrow night which I've been looking forward to for quite a while. However, I just got a phone call telling me that Alan volunteered me to make desserts for the party! I don't mind doing it, honest I don't! However, I would have liked to know about it before now! I've already done the shopping for the week, and now I'm going to have to go out again. I hate doing that as I'm prone to pick up things I don't need on trips like this. Oh well. I've been in the mood to do some baking, so I'm just going to do it and not let hubby know how exasperated I am.

I've decided just to make a few pans of bar cookies and brownies and call it good. There are supposed to be about 1000 people at the function, so I wanted to make things that can be cut into smaller portions to feed more people. Last year, they had 8 people make dessert and ended up with 8 cakes from the local bakery. They ran out after about 100 people. I hope that doesn't happen, this year. It got pretty ugly! Not that I can eat the desserts, but I hate for people to be disappointed!

New schools are tough Beth !! Don't worry quite a few of us will be right there with you crying for that last day of school when it happens.

I was replying to Dawn's post, but I forgot to quote it. I won't have any new schools this year for a change! This year was Matthew's first year of high school. The year before Laura started middle school and Miles started elementary school. This September should be a breeze. ;) I'll come crying to you all in 3 Septembers when Matthew goes to college.

Speaking of changing schools-

Has anyone ever done a party after 8th grade continuation? :confused3
My uncle (oops I forgot to invite him to the continuation :rolleyes2) asked if there was going to be a party.
First off I don't find that going from one school is another is that big of a deal so I didn't think to invite him(not very involved in the girls lives...more to do with my Grandma) but he will be coming because Grandma invited him  , But he asked if there was going to be a party, we may go out to dinner but a party? :confused3 I asked Cassidy and she said that's what Six Flags is for!! All of the 8th graders get to go to Six Flags for the official last day of school. But I am wondering if this is something I missed and am just clueless (I know I am clueless most of the time but how about for this?)

Our school doesn't have an 8th grade continuation, and we didn't do anything special or have a party when Matthew moved up to the high school. There is a small ceremony/reception at our elementary school for the departing 5th graders, but we didn't do anything more as far as a party then either. That's what graduation is for. Knowing Matthew, he'll just request cash from us in lieu of a party for graduation, and Laura will want a big party with all of her friends. I'm not ready to think about that yet!

Since everyone at work is tired of me talking about Disney, I'll ask all of you!

When Bob and I go to Disney this fall, we currently have 8 nights at the Pop Century resort. Bob has been dying to stay at Riverside. The catch is though, it would run us another $540. I've never stayed this long at a value before, and given it's the last week that the free dining is running, I'm afraid that it's gonna be swamped here. Does anyone have suggestions for me? Do it or don't? Save the money for something else? (Like bills, Segway tour, and Disney stuff to take home?) I guess I'm hoping someone will talk me out of it. :)

tinker1bell's sister was at Pop last year during the free dining promotion. We didn't think it was packed, although we knew it was. The only time I noticed a lot of people was at the food court. The food court was a challenge, but we made it. The food was edible. If we were to go again, I would eat breakfast at the theme park we were visiting. That's the only change.

She got towel animals. The room was nice. Very Disney. It was big enough for her and her sister and her ECV. I was amazing at how little time we spent in our rooms! We were up early (made the opening ceremony only), stayed for Illuminations, Wishes, Fantasmic, MNSSHP pins, , we closed the parks every evening. So the room truly was a place to shower and sleep.

If we went this year, we'd be at Pop... :cloud9:

Oh, it's a dorm!

I didn't go to East Quad too much. I lived in Emerson (South Quad) my first year...the last year it was all-girls. Then I lived in Clawson Hall (Western Campus) for two years, which I thought would be horrible, but I actually requested it for my junior year. And then I moved off campus to the Candlewood Apts. for the next two years (I graduated in December 2004, but I lived in Oxford for an extra semester).

And regarding your comment about there being so much we can walk to in Sharonville, that's just another reason to love our new house! We can still walk everywhere! :goodvibes

So, even though we're having an open house from 12-2 p.m. on Sunday, Remax just called and asked if someone could walk through at 9 a.m. that morning. Yay, finally someone is coming inside! :woohoo: And, that sounds like a great reason to get up early and go out to breakfast! :teeth:

I hope everyone has a great day! I'm still doing laundry and I have a bunch of cleaning to do. And, I promise Dawn, emailing you back is at the top of my list too!!!

Amy :)

Um..... did you really mean 2004? I don't think we were there at the same time ;)

Kyle lived in Emerson, when it was obviously NOT all girls. I didn't know him then though, and never went that way except to go to Tappan and regret having turned down living there :rotfl:

They turned Havighurst (on Western) into a freshman dorm recently, and people complained at first but they also really liked living on Western. I lived in Collins and Minnich, then moved off-campus.

That's so exciting that someone is walking through the house this weekend!!!!! It really does have so much space with the addition/changes. Keep us posted on how the whole weekend goes. :goodvibes

I like the chair idea! I may have to try that. They are being pretty good today. Probably because I really laid into them this morning when they got here. I'll try the chair trick next!

Glynis,

I agree with the taping of the children, (baby Cam)

I know this will sound harsh but when I was taking of my DH's cousin's child, she and my oldest son would really get roudy at times and I told them that if they could not keep quiet and watch the 'potty mouth', I was going to tape their mouths shut. Before I did this, I did discuss it with the mother. She was like whatever works. Had to do it only once for 15 minutes with masking tape and I was so upset but it worked and if I even went for the roll of tape after that, they would shut up immediately.
Your posessions are priceless to you and you have to do whatever it takes.

When we went last October we stayed 5 nights at Pop and 4 nights at Port Orleans French Quarter. Pop is very different than Port Orleans. It is much more crowded and I think the decorations are over the top. There is no refrigerator or coffee maker at Pop. The rooms were fairly similar in size, POFQ was a bit bigger, but it really didn't make much difference. Pop required much more walking to get to the main pool, and main building. The food court was really busy most of the time. POFQ was much more intimate with a short walk to the busses (shorter wait), pool and main buildings. The rooms were very nicely decorated. We really like having the fridge and coffee maker right there. We didn't hate Pop, but would probably spend the extra $$ for Port Orleans French Quarter in the future. I'm not sure how Riverside differs from French Quarter so maybe this post isn't relavent. We have since bought DVC so now we have a whole new set of Resorts to try out. :teeth:

Deb

How could I forget about the fridge and coffee pot! tinker1bell and I were at POFQ. We wanted two sinks, the privacy curtain and seperate dressing area. We were close to the bus stop, close to the food court, close to the pool and laundry. We were there 8 nights... I loved the cool water in the morning to take to the parks and my coffee first thing!!

Well, I a big bunch of help!

Y'all are going to think I'm such a nut but I can't stop crying. Today was Christopher's last day of Pre-K, which is bad enough in itself, but it was also his last day at this school. We loved this school and were so happy when he was accepted but made the difficult decision to move him to another school that is competitive academically, is a K-12 school (current school only goes to 5th), and has MUCH cheaper tuition once he hits 6th grade. If we turned down the spot at the new school we wouldn't have a chance of ever being accepted again so we decided to move him and at least give it a try. I thought I was OK with our decision, but I've been so sad since I picked him up. I've been trying to hold it together in front of Christopher but I started tearing up when we went through the bag of summer materials she sent home for him. He hugged me and told me it's ok. Damn pregnancy hormones! My 5 year old is handling this better than me!

Thanks for listening.

I love my sandwich maker! We make ham and cheese, pizza sandwiches, pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches, and turnovers. Those are my kids favorites. Whenever Alan has to go out of town, I buy a loaf of cinnamon raisin bread, then butter the outside, place about a tablespoon of jam or pie filling in the center and top it with another piece of bread. It cooks about 4 minutes, and when it's done I put them on plates with a dollop of jam or pie filling on top, and dust it with powdered sugar! The kids think they are great treats to have while watching a movie. They are a bit messy, though. But worth it!

Oh my goodness! The pancakes sounded pretty cool, but I think we'll have to try the turnovers ASAP!

Well :p to you, rub it in why don't ya. ;)

I have to say the weather in Atlanta today is beautiful. Right now it is 63 degrees with a high of 80 with winds 10-20 mph...........just enough spring breeze to keep you cool. I don't think we could ask for a better Friday.

Mickey, my BAB is a girl, but I don't like Minnie.

Glynis said:
