The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 30

I just told DH about the flights and now he is mad. I knew he would be.

He infuriates me with this. He says if he can't get one of the weeks we want that maybe he can trade, then he REFUSES to actually ask anyone to trade with him. He says one day that most of those guys don't plan their vacations ahead of time, then he turns around the next day and says "Other people have kids! Their kids are in school, too, and they bid for their weeks on purpose!" Well, WHICH is it?

I know changing positions means he is bidding against a whole new set of guys and he has no idea where he is as far as seniority. Now he is saying he might end up with BOTH of his vacation weeks being during school and it is what it is. Excuse me? Is vacationing with DS not important enough to DH for him to be a little assertive? If he can't get a week in August he needs to tell the business manager that he won't be able to have ANY vacation time in 2008 with his family, and he needs to see if she can make some sort of arrangements for him. If she can't then he needs to ask whoever has those weeks if they will trade. Not rocket science. And this far in advance I can't see it being THAT much of a hardship, but who knows. The first year he bid he got his SIXTH choice. I don't even know what our 6th choice would be for 2008. :confused3

Now I am mad that he is being so complacent and "woe is me" about the whole thing. As soon as DS's miles are credited I am booking us for Aug. 1-17 and DH can come with us or not. I am not going to beg and plead and argue with him if he is already resigned to the fact that he won't be able to get any time off. I am sick and tired of this.
I would book it too.

Well, that didn't last long! 20 pages since then and that was without Theresa if I'm not mistaken (or maybe she came back in the evening). I'll try to catch up today, but we're heading to the hunkin patch in a little while so it may not happen.

How were the hunkins? Any pictures?

I thought your dates were later in the month, but maybe not. If you arrive on 8/14 that would be great!:)

When we did F&WF we got there right when World Showcase opened on a weekday and it wasn't crowded at all. Weekend evenings all the locals go to F&WF so it is crazy. I have been to MK on Saturday during the day and it is OK (we had 8 AM breakfast at CP on my birthday last year and it was a Saturday) - trying to go to Spectro on a Saturday is suicidal. I think Friday night EMH at Epcot will be a zoo!

Ordinarily we LOVE morning EMH but I don't think we got to any of them in August. We just picked a park that opened at 9 AM and got there for rope drop. Since we were staying out late we just couldn't get DS moving in time to go to an 8 AM opening.
I have 2 weeks booked. I don't know if we will really go for 2 weeks but I would love it. I don't think DH thought 10 nights was too long. I liked coming home on the Thursday before Labor to have the whole long weekend to recover. So we may go the 15th or 16th instead???

I will do Spectro on Thursday but I'll talk to my friend about doing Epcot on Friday instead of Saturday.

We were thinking of doing Fantasmic on that Friday night. I don't think we can do both Fantasmic and Osborne Lights on Monday.

AACCCKKKKK!!!!! I'd be running out for a new answering machine ASAP to make sure you don't miss anything else! Hope the news is REALLY good (how about 10!). Can't wait to hear the details!!

I have a package with Verizon that includes an answering service. I need more than the cheapest package so I can call my sisters and MIL. So it was worth it to get the package that includes the answering service and US long distance.

Since Bernadette mentioned SpectroMagic, I thought I would share a few pictures of when we were there!

This is definitely a MUST see in my books!

Yes, I was! I missed J.D.'s grand slam by seconds though as I had to make a trip to Sonic. They finally looked like themselves tonight. The second and third games that they lost they didn't look like the same team. That team last night it the one we need to face the Rockies! Now to just get past the Indians tonight.

I missed it too. They were already 10-1 when I turned it on.

When I was out today I saw a Red Sox Wolly Willy (is that name of the face that you put magnetic hair on?). And Red Sox Uno cards.

Us too! There's something unnatural to pick pumpkins in 81 degree weather. It's much like my feelings about Christmas shopping the first winter we were in Southern CA and I was shopping in 70 degree weather.

It was 75 here today. Is forecasted to hit 80 tomorrow.

I would suggest trying to go to the food and wine festival as far away from the weekend as possible. Lots of locals come just for the festival and they come in droves on the weekend. This was my experience in college so three years ago at a minimum but I would imagine it hasn't changed much. Probably the crowds have just gotten larger on the weekend.

We are going to go to F&WFest as soon as we get there. I have to see about switching Fri and Sat around. I know if go Sat we have to hit World Showcase right at 11am.

Transfer is tomorrow at 7. I have called Eric and told him that I'll then go home for a few hours, and call him to let him know if I'm coming in. If he's freaking out, I'll work a few hours at my desk and take it easy, but help get through a bit before Tuesday. If he's ok, then - at his suggestion - I'll stay home. I REFUSE to sit on my butt though.... that stresses me out more than anything!

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Sounds like a good plan!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
