Wow, What a quiet morning. Only 3 posts since I went to bed last night. I would like to start this day by wishing every DDAer lost of :grouphug: :grouphug: and plenty of :wizard: :wizard: pixiedust: pixiedust: . I hope to see everyone have a great day without all the difficulties that have been popping up as of late. I plan to get caught up on design requests and maybe even do some housework. :rotfl2: I have a busy weekend with work in the evening and tapping our Maple Orchard during the day. At least I'll get plenty of exercise and fresh air even if it is a tremendous amount of work.

Have a great Day All. I'll check in later.

Deb -- I'm very interested in the whole sugar process. Do you have any pictures you could show us? I know my youngest, Jake, would be so interested in what "that nice lady that let us borrow the brown bear costume" does. He is my outdoor child.

Good morning everyone.:coffee: :sunny: It's Friday!!!:woohoo:

I just want to second what Deb said. The DDA has had more than it's share of troubles the past few weeks. I am saying a special prayer for health and happiness for all of us here on the DDA. :grouphug:

Good morning all...

Anyone know anything about used cars? I am contemplating buying the 18 year old a car...I can't decide if it's a total fantasy to find something for 2-3000? The thought of looking at a bunch of crappy cars through want ads makes me ill! lol

okay - and my other reality show -

Dancing with the Stars - Drew and Cheryl were head and shoulders above the others - if he doesn't win I will be shocked - I think the judges learned that bashing Jerry was only getting him sympathy votes -

I am not sure why the judges are going to judge one more dance on Sunday - is that so they can make sure it turns out the way the voting goes?

I was torn between them and Stacy until last night. Drew was FABULOUS!!!!!! I tried for 30 straight minutes to call in to vote but never got through :( Hopefully that means they will get the most votes!!!

Anyone doing anything good over spring break?? I think we are going to do a 2 day stint at an indoor waterpark/resort. Not really my thing...but the kids enjoy it. A few margaritas should help pass the time! :p

DH and I were just pricing out a 2 day jaunt up to Lake Geneva at their indoor water park but decided against it. We want to get a new camcorder (the kind that records directly onto DVD's) before this years WDW trip and would rather put the money towards that. Plus, I still have my eye on that Maclaren stroller (which I just found a fantastic price on :woohoo: ) which I may finally order on Monday.

That is too funny! We didn't have the cool pull-ups when we potty trained our kids.

We will probably just stay home and maybe do a few day trips to DC and the Smithsonian, Air/Space Museum, National Zoo.

Oh and I'm confused by the olympic thing... I watch the figure skating live between 6.30 and 8pm... so why do you guys have to wait until 11pm or is that just the time they play it back recorded?

On the East Coast (Disney time) the show the Olympics from 8pm to 11:30 or Midnight. They have been tending to start showing ice skating around 90-9:30, but them the real contenders don't air until around 10:30 or 11:00. I just wish that they would air the ice skating earlier in the evening so that I could get some sleep, plus kids like my sister would actually get to see it.

YUM!!! I love mayonaise cake, but haven't had it in SO long. My mom and I were just talking about those and Coke cakes this weekend. The subject came up because DH said I put wierd things in recipes (usually old family ones) and she asked if I'd ever made him a Coke cake or Mayo cake. Then, we went to Cracker Barrel that night and lo and behold if their special dessert right now wasn't Coke cake. My BIL had it and said that it was the best chocolate cake he had ever had. Hmmm....I may need to do some baking this weekend.

You can find cars that are about 10 years old for $2000 - $3000. I highly recommend looking at Kelly Blue Book (I know there is a .com, but not the specific address). If you put in the car info it will give you a price range. We often buy and sell cars as Chris is a mechanic and buys them cheap and repairs them, then resells them. Do yourself a favor before you ever buy a used car take it to a mechanic that you trust and have them look it over. They may find things that you won't. Between a good mechanic and Kelly Blue book you should be all set to find a nice used car.

The 1997 Toyota Previa that I have been driving for nearly 2 years now cost use $400. Chris put some sweat equity into, but nothing costly. I think we may have put $1000 into it since buying it, and a big chunk of that was new snow tires.

Deals can be had, you just have to look.

I think I have some photos, I'll look for them and post later. I need to find my maple recipes for Glynis too.

Never even heard of a Coke cake!! Sounds yummy other than I wonder if you could switch the Coke for Pepsi? Pepsi reigns supreme in our house.

In a weight support group I belong to we tell each other what our little goal for the week is.....mine this week was to limit my sweet drinks to one a day. Didn't bother me until yesterday I wanted a fresh from the fountain A&W root beer so bad but had two sips because I had already had my sweet drink!!!

Okay DDA -

I just booked my airfare for the July DC Meet!!! :thumbsup2

I got a non-stop fare of $175 so I grabbed it!!!

That is where we are going...Timber Ridge Resort - Lake Geneva. They had a $150 per night package...includes accomodations, water park passes, 40 game room tokens per day, a movie rental per day & 1 large pizza per day. Like I said, it's not really my thing...and it wouldn't take too much for me not to spend the money :teeth: but the kids really want to go...

The camcoder sounds very interesting...I didn't know that recording directly to a dvd was an option. Can I ask how much something like that runs??

Kristine

Kristine -

I have seen the DVD camcorders anywhere from $275 to $1000 - I guess it depends on what you are looking for
