The camcoder sounds very interesting...I didn't know that recording directly to a dvd was an option. Can I ask how much something like that runs??

Kristine
I just got a new digital camcorder before our December trip, but I got the kind that records onto tape instead of the DVD. I want to be able to edit and put it to music and such, so for what I want to do, the tape works better for me. But if you just want to be able to record your home movie and then watch them, DVD is good. I got a Sony HC42, I believe it is, plus the starter kit (extra battery, carrying case, tapes, etc) plus shipping for $500. I think now they are about $450. Here is a good website to use www.pricegrabber.com. I have used them for buying a lot of electronics to get the lowest price. They also have user reviews, too, which I find beneficial.

Good morning everyone.:coffee: :sunny: It's Friday!!!:woohoo:

I just want to second what Deb said. The DDA has had more than it's share of troubles the past few weeks. I am saying a special prayer for health and happiness for all of us here on the DDA. :grouphug:

Well, unfortunately, the "thin" is still pretty "thick" around here. All 4 of my kids are down for the count with high fevers and upset tummies. I'm nicknaming my house the Neves Hospital. I run from room to room with medicine, soda crackers, 7-up or Coke to settle tummies, books to look at, movies to watch, etc. I should definitely lose a couple of pounds with all the running around I'm doing.

Hope everyone else's day is going better than mine! Here's hoping it's just a 12 hour bug!

I think I have some photos, I'll look for them and post later. I need to find my maple recipes for Glynis too.

Deb

I had completely forgotten about that! Thanks for remembering! I do want those recipes! My DD is reading the Little House on the Prairie books right now, and there is a scene where Ma and Pa make maple candy with snow and hot syrup. It would be fun to have her try some homemade maple candy now that she's read about it. However, there's really no rush. Seriously, I know how busy you are, so don't go out of your way for the recipes, right now.

Ok, right now I am picturing the Brady Bunch episode when the kids all have chicken pox and they run Mike, Carol and Alice crazy......

I hope this passes quickly for you and them.

Good morning all...

Anyone know anything about used cars? I am contemplating buying the 18 year old a car...I can't decide if it's a total fantasy to find something for 2-3000? The thought of looking at a bunch of crappy cars through want ads makes me ill! lol

I've got a great second hand ford up for sale for about $1800... petty you're on the wrong side of the ocean!

Wow, all 4 at once. That must be a record. I hope they get better soon.

I still have my eye on that Maclaren stroller (which I just found a fantastic price on :woohoo: ) which I may finally order on Monday.

Care to share the link? I need to get a new stroller for Rees to use for long distances.

Glynis,

Sending your gang PD and get well soon vibes. No fun! :grouphug:

Hi, everyone. Today is much better. I am very impressed with the school system the kids will be going to for Kindergarten. We started the process for Rees to be evaluated by the schools for assistance/therapy/special needs help in K (he'll be mainstreamed). Our meeting with them is 3/10. Well, today at school the head of the eval team showed up at Rees' school to observe him in the classroom so she would have an even better idea of what services they will need to provide for him. I was floored that a public school system would send an educator to a private pre-school! I'm even more excited about it now.

I have a project for the DDA! The kids' 6th b'day party will be a DISNEY THEME!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, I need all you brilliant DDAers to help me come up with party invites, thank you's, games, cake ideas, party favors (was thinking Kate's name design on a tote bag or t-shirt), etc. We are going to have the party at home and will rent a Disney themed moon bounce and probably either a popcorn or snow cone machine. I would expect around 30-40 kids and parents. We're going to do it from 2-4pm so just cake, ice cream, and some snack items. I told DH last night that if I gave y'all the challenge, the kids would have the most awesome party ever! And I'll need some extra back up ideas so if it rains (and the kids can't use the Moon Bounce) I'll have enough to do. Davis wants Power Rangers, Brantley-Kate wants Princess, and Rees wants Donald Duck/Mickey (and Power Rangers).

And did you see my new beach ticker? I'm very excited about that trip too!

I like your new tickers, Denise!

Thanks, Tammi. The beach house my brother rented has 5 bedrooms and a bonus game room with an air hockey table. The kids get a bunk room with 2 sets of bunk beds. And the pool in the neighborhood is 12000 square feet (yes, you read that right). I am so happy he invited us to go with them!

Denise - Check out www.birthdaypartyideas.com, they have lots of Princess party ideas.

Sounds like your school is really going to be good for Rees. Have you recommended that they all be in the same classroom or are you asking that they be split up? I can see the pros and cons for each scenario and was just curious how you would be handling it.

Split up. They've always been split up in school. They like it cause they have their own teachers and friends. The eval team is recommending that they are in adjoining classrooms for K. That way they are in the same "Pod" and their rooms should be next door to each other (Rees will feel more comfortable if they are close to him).

I wish I could get my family, well my extended family since it is just my parents and I, to all go to the beach together one year and rent one of those sand "castles". The beach we usually go to, Emerald Isle, NC, has some huge multimillion dollars house, with 10 bedrooms. I figure if we could get 5 families to go, it would be reasonable, and it would be so much fun. They are all such party-poopers when it comes to stuff like that.

Yuck! I hope it's a quick bug, and that you and your DH don't get it! :wizard:

That's good. That probably promotes more individuality for them. And they are used to it, so it won't be such a shock. I try to imagine what it would be like to have that twin/triplet bond with someone. It must be wonderful. I don't even know what it is like to have a sibling bond :sad1: , let alone a twin thing!

Oh my gosh! I had totally forgotten about that episode! What a hoot! That's pretty much what it's been like here today. Luckily, 3 of the 4 are napping and the one that started it all seems to be much better now, and is happily sucking on a popsicle!

Here's hoping the worst is past! I haven't been able to do much of my homework (not to mention housework) today, as they all want something all the time. Thank heaven for naps!
