Hi, everyone. Thanks for the PMs and calls. We aren't doing the show because DH backed out and my MIL was her usual self and made it impossible for us to sell certain items that she *GAVE* to us...

We worked a lot out. After 11 years of marriage, I'm sure everyone has had ups and downs. It's been such a stressful time anyway with Rees and the Medicaid. This was just my final straw.

I will be around, but only during the day. I'm going to stay off the computer at night and focus on my DH and the kdis.

Hugs to all going through stuff. Hoping this turns around soon for us ALL! Oh, and my grandmother just called. Her mammogram is very suspect and she goes Monday for a biopsy. Her sister already has had breast cancer. Boy, when it rains it pours.

:grouphug: Denise. I am sorry that the show isn't going to happen for you, but I'm glad you and DH worked some things out.

More prayers coming your way for grandma. I hope that the biopsy is productive and that they are able to help quickly if there is cancer. :wizard: :grouphug:

Ok, I'm really not trying to be a downer, but Rees' surgery for his nose is Tuesday (I forgot completely about it). The surgery center just called for his pre-op. Calgon, Take me Away!

Good luck on Tuesday. He'll be in our prayers for that specifically until then. I hope that it helps the bleeding and other recent problems.

only 4 more skaters until Sasha Cohen. Emily Hughes just skated and did very well. She's currently in 1st place! Here's a link to the live update if you're like me and can't wait until tonight!

Oh man, why didn't I know about that. I hate having to stay up until 11:30 to see the big skaters and then having to get up at 6. When the Olympics are over I may finally get some sleep.

All right....obviously the "rain" didn't hear me!!

My mom's insurance company is denying payment for the PET scan in the morning. She is waiting to hear from the doctor to find out what her next step is.

That is terrible! I can't believe it. I hope that the doctor has some good alternatives or ideas of ways to work around it.

Just reading some of your post you remind me of a school friend of mine named Julia who also lives in Atlanta also born in 1966. I thought how weird it would be if you were that Julia.

Lynn

Yes it would be weird but
'it is a small world' too and some strange things have been known to happen.

Kristen, pixiedust: explaining this to Kyle, it is hard and my FIL passed 4 years ago and my DS still asks me questions about it and things I told him.

FINALLY......

I, too, have some great news to share.

My DH has been offered a great job as Controller for a family-friendly company! Woo Hoo!!

Thanks again to all my wonderful friends here who listened to me vent about his current employer and were kind enough to ask about his job search and send prayers and PD. DH is grinning from ear to ear. He's going from a company that asked him to take a paycut, didn't give him the promised Christmas bonus, and didn't even give him a card for his birthday, to a company that wants to take us out to eat Saturday night to celebrate the new job! He will give his two week notice this Friday (and even after all his current boss has put him through, including taking the credit for all the awesome things my DH has implemented in the year he has been there, he feels bad about leaving with just a year of work there) and start the new job on March 16th.

Thanks again for all your support during his job search.

That's great, in 9 years I have never gotten a b'day card so I thought that was the norm here!!!

Hello all! My Disney euphoric bubble was burst only two days after we got home. :(
My DD got so sick, she couldn't eat or drink anything for four days, took her to the doctor, and with meds she finally is getting better now.
I then got  trying to take care of her while my wife was working longer hours, trying to get caught up after our vacation. I am just starting to feel a little better now also.
DW then had a scheduled surgery on her hand (carpal tunnel release) that she just had done today. She will be off of work for a few weeks with that. The surgeon also found some cysts on her wrist and removed them also. He said that they were clear and that she will be o.k. :goodvibes
My Mom just found out that she has uterine cancer. I took her to Columbus today. They are scheduling a total hysterectomy (sp?) on the 15th of March. They are also removing her galbladder then also. The ct scan showed that she had a porcelain galbladder and that was a sign of cancer also. We are hoping and praying all goes well with that. PD for us please.
So if I am not on for awhile, or posting, please know that I am thinking of you all and am praying that all is well. :grouphug:
It seems that a lot PD is needed all around. pixiedust:
Thanks for letting me get this out, it makes me feel a little better just talking about it, and not holding it in. :grouphug:

Sorry to hear all this

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for you and your family

I'm off to bed. Have a team meeting tomorrow with the best team in the world. I made "better than sex" cake (at least that is what my MIL calls it) because we are having a potluck meeting. On the box, they called it "better than almost anything" cake. I hope I can resist since I'm doing so well losing my excess weight.

Now my mom and I have better than sex ice-cream and DH has a better than sex chocolate but never heard of the cake!!

Yes, I understand what you mean. Thanks for the advice.

I think his teacher confused him. Before school started he had no problem with his letters. He had gone to preschool for 2 years, knew all the letters and their sounds. So I sent a note to school asking how she teaches the b's and d's. Her reply was that she calls the circle part of the letter the belly, like Beth mentioned yesterday, and then working on "right" and "left". She uses that analogy with both letters, instead of just picking one. Like, d is a belly with the line on the right, b is a belly with the line on the left. If she would have just left it at "b" as in belly has a belly. Does that make sense???

I agree I think most times the teachers confuse the kids and then it is hard to get it straigtened out in there minds again.

Better than Sex Cake

German Chocolate Cake mix
14 oz. jar sweetened condensed milk
jar caramel ice cream sauce
chopped pecans
container cool whip
heath bars

Bake cake as directed in 9x13 pan. Immediately after baking (while hot), poke holes in cake. Pour on caramel sauce and condensed milk. Sprinkle with pecans. Refrigerate. Frost with cool whip. Crush heath bars & spread on top.

It is really easy to make and very decadent.

Thanks for the recipe, I will have to try this when there are lots of people around so I don't get left eating the whole thing!!

I was starting to thing I was having my own little posting party while trying to catch up.

Quick update as it's almost time for the Dancing Final!!

I just talked to my mom. The radiology center is the one who told her and said that they will get her in for the MRI the insurance will pay for as soon as they've got the correct authorization. Mom hasn't heard directly from the doctor but it sounds like they are trying to get this done quickly. I feel so bad because while she is waiting they haven't given her any meds for the pain, nausea or diarhea.

Thanks for letting me tell you all this....I've gotten some really weird reactions from her former coworkers...my current coworkers...so it's nice to come here and vent/talk about it.

I don't know how Vicki makes it, but before my surgery, I used to make it for family gatherings. Here's my recipe:

1 box chocolate cake mix (your favorite kind. I do devil's food)

Make this according to package directions in a 9 X 13 pan. Cool completely. With a meat fork, or wooden spoon, poke holes in the top of the cake. Pour one jar of caramel ice cream topping over and allow it to soak into the cake. On top of that, pour one can of sweetened condensed milk. Spread 1 container of Cool Whip over the top and sprinkle crushed toffee bars on the top. If you have another jar of caramel sauce, feel free to spoon that over the top.

This is very rich and you will need either a gallon of milk or a hose attached to the kitchen sink to appease your thirst after a couple of bites. I highly recommend it! Too bad it's on my naughty list, now!

I knew I should have read further. Our recipes are so similar, but I don't do the nuts. Good addition! How did it go over today?
