Hey guys! I just wanted to share my door signs for the cruise with you all. Kyle's busy right now, and hasn't been on for weeks anyway, so I'll leave this posted temporarily.

Like I posted on the DCL door sign thread, I'm a bit embarrassed at how OCD this first picture is going to come across. I SWEAR I'm not planning all these details for this trip. I am going to just relax and not plan a lot, so it will be a very different trip than the parks. (Like you all will believe that  ) But anyway... I felt like the only way to justify the simplicity is to show how they work together.

:rolleyes1

Who am I kidding, I'm totally OCD and you all know it. I'm serious about my reasoning for posting it though!

ETA: I hope to change the picture for 'graduation' to a picture of us on graduation. Right now that's the Cincinnati Children's Hospital campus, since I don't have one yet :)

I like it! and I promise not to say anything about being a little OCD about it. I mean, how can you make a proper set of door signs without knowing how they will work together. :teeth:

I have some good news to share! Except it's kind of scary, as well :scared1:

I got a phone call today to schedule an interview at Children's hospital! It's set for April 4th, which is awesome. The only thing is, it sounds like it's going to be exhausting!

At 11:00, I meet with the nurse recruiter for 30 minutes. From 11:30-12:30 I interview with the clinical manager and a staff nurse of the unit where I am applying (at the same time). From 12:30-1:30, I interview with a nurse educator and some general HR person at the same time. And then from 1:30-2:30 I interview with some upper level brass type person.

I don't think I've been on an interview that lasted ONE hour, let alone over THREE! Is this what the real world is normally like?! If so, then I don't think I like it. If not, then it's no wonder there's a nursing shortage! :rotfl:

that is awesome!!!! You are a smart girl - be one of the cute nurses at the hospital where your DH works!!! ;) Kyle will be able to say he is sleeping with one of the nurses!!! :lmao: :lmao:

that is actually a short interview!!!!! My DH has been on an 8 hour job interview!!

I guess if I ever find myself at Children's I will know who to ask for!!!!!

So this evening DS came to ask me if he could go to our neighbor and I said okay, then DD came to ask and she went, she came home saying they were not there and where was Adam.
He went to friends down in the cul-de-sac and about 1/2 hour later I sent her to go get him and she went out the door and a couple of minutes later came in saying he had fallen in the river!!
I ran out the garage and there was DH with the friends dad from down the road, they were playing by the river - the Chatahoochee is far down from there house and Adam slipped and fell in. Luckily he was not hurt and they managed to get him out he was just soaked from head to toe and freezing!!
He is so lucky there was a parent there as he knows not to go to the river without a parent or I would kill him!!!! :goodvibes

I'm glad that he is okay! I hope that he warms up quickly.

Jennifer - can I ask what area you want to work in?

if I were a nurse I would want to be in Labor and Delivery - which I know you won't be there!!

Congrats on the interview!

I hate to tell you, but in the real world, there can be some pretty long interviews! I'm sure it depends on the level of professionalism of your job. I know when my dept. hires people, they usually spend an hour+ with us for the first interview, and if we like them, we'll have them come back for a 2nd time, and it might be another 2 hours.

When DH was first getting into the pharmaceutical industry, all told, he spent almost 13 hours interviewing for that job!

Jennifer;
Congratulations on the interview & Good Luck!!! The first 2 years of my Kyle's life we practically lived at Children's, at least every week he either had a surgery or an EUA. In those 2 years he was under anesthesia over 85 times, it was very hard on him and us but the day after Carli was born he had his last EUA. I am so happy that we tried to do everything that we could to help him get some vision or at the very least to be able to have him keep his own eyes (which we did), but on the same hand he does not remember any of it!! Sorry to ramble on but what I wanted to say is that I Loved the wonderful nurses at Children's they were some of the nicest most special people I have ever met. I know that you will do wonderful there and touch the lives of MANY MANY people.

Congrats on the interview and welcome to the real world!!!
My SIL is a surgical nurse and works some long hours! She started at Sheppard Spinal Clinic and that was just to traumatic.
I hope you find the field you enjoy and sure you will touch many peoples lives.

That is my dream job!!! I think that that is one job I would look forward to going to everyday!!! In the last few weeks I have been questioning what I want to do w/ the rest of my life once the kids are in school full time. Anyway I was actually looking into becoming a midwife, I know I would love it but I don't know if I have it in me to go back to school for that long  !!!! My OB actually went back to school on the day her youngest went to kndg. to become a nurse (up until that point she had only a h.s. diploma) she loved it so much she decided to become a doctor, now that is dedication!!!!!

Well, are all you American Idol fans ready to find out who is off? Can't believe Chuck and Becky got me into this! I'm not usually a reality show fan. I feel too bad for the people when they get booted!

How did you know I won't be there? Have I said that before? lol... i can't keep track.

I want to be in the PICU, but there aren't openings until October. So I am interviewing on a Neurology critical care floor for the first 6 months + and then try to transfer. If I get the job that is!

I guess that's true. I think I've had several hours over the course of 2-3 interviews, but never all at once! It seems to me that if the first person just can't stand me, I should get to go home! :rotfl:

Also, the questiong drilling?! I guess that just seems odd. I'm graduating from a program that they can look into, and I'll show them proof of my degrees, and I have to sit for boards/licensing exams, so if I pass that, then I think you should be able to determine that I'm competent! :confused3 Maybe they're just trying to pscyh people out. I'll be ready though, so the joke's on them :p

No need to apologize! I love hearing stories like that. I have a heart for peds nursing because of time I spent at childrens over the course of my first 18 years ..... I agree -- the nurses there are life-changing. I think that's why I don't want to settle for anywhere else!
