I am so excited, I finally made the decision to get new luggage. I have really wanted the Mickey luggage but was just not sure I wanted to spend the $$. I finally justified the $20 per bag and was ready to order it last night. I was checking my email and noticed I had received a new email from Disney.com and it was advising of 20% off items. I went on site and chose the color I wanted (taupe) and put in the code and to my surprise, got the 20% off. So with taxes, shipping and the 20% discount, I got the set for $61.52

Bernadette, I know you keep posting this, but tell me again what camera you have. I'm definitely putting a new one on my Christmas list, as I just came home from the museum with some horrible pictures because I can't hold the camera steady. Here's an example....

It was nice. Not too crowded. We metroed in from Springfield and did the Natural History and Air and Space. The girls were a bit too young for it, but they enjoyed looking at some of the stuff. We didn't go throught them 'thoroughly' by any means. Just hit the highlights. Then we had dinner at Bertucci's on the way home. I love their brick oven pizza!

I lost the 2 auctions I bid on today. I have some others on my "watch" list for the next few days. DH & I both think the weekend is a bad time to bid because there are more people looking. And I am getting much more particular about what I will bid on and what sellers I will buy from. With the counterfeits being so rampant I am only bidding on rack pins. But there are some pretty weird rack pin auctions out there, too.

A seller in Oregon with no history of selling pins has suddenly come to possess over 1100 rack pins that they are selling in sets of 35 pins. These are current rack pins - not older designs that might have been clearanced. Very, very odd. More likely to be stolen than fake, I would think. But to pull off wholesale theft from Disney would be awfully risky. It would almost have to be employee theft from the warehouse where the pins go before they are sent to the parks, or the dock where the pins come in from China before they go to the warehouse. I didn't bid on those because it was just too strange.

My laundry is done, for the most part. Tomorrow I will wash bed sheets and the throw blankets from the living room and that will be it!

Just popping to say "hi" . . . life is so absolutely hectic these days that I'm not sure which way is up anymore! My DD has joined a competitive dance troupe this year, and her many hours of practice (and driving her to practice) has really taken up a huge amount of my free time. I just love to watch her dance, though, so it is a labour of love!

I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with the many happenings of the members here. I hope everyone is doing well! Everyone was so kind to me when I first popped in, but I'm afraid it is unrealistic for me to think I will be able to keep up with this thread. I hope you don't mind if I stop in to say hello once in a while!

No tripod. I do think I'm pretty steady but the image stablization is awesome.

I have a Sony H5. Tia has a very simular H2 and Becky has an H1. They no longer make any of those but you may be able to find the H2 still available on line some places. The new H7/H9 have a few problems. You may also want to consider the Cannon that all the folks over on the photography board love.

Do you use a flash for that photo? It looks like a focus problem as well. The dino looks more in focus than the cute kids. I can choose different focus methods for my camera. I'm not happy with the "standard" focus method so I always keep it on spot focus and get much better results.

So I spent 13 hours with the marching band today. First official competition of the season. The kids took 3rd in 4A in prelims and 8th overall....which gave them a berth in Finals. They performed great in finals and moved up a spot in final standings . I didn't agree with the judging for the finals as the top spot (with like a 5 pt difference.....almost unheard of in competition) really just weren't that much better (in fact the director didn't get caught when he made it on to the playing field...a huge no no). I am a little biased because the director is a mean man(personal experience) and we only hear horror stories from the poor kids. (they were on the field at 6 this morning...they share our practice field.....so from 6 to 10 they played nearly non stop).

Our kids kept the stadium in stitches while waiting for the retreat...that's the difference between our school and the school who took the top spot. F U N

Thanks, Bernadette. Yes, I did not use a flash for that picture. I took one with flash and the dino was dark so I turned it off. I don't know about the spot focus that you mention. I think I had mine set for indoor. I see what you mean about part of the dino being in focus. When I take pictures I have these little green squares that come up on the LCD display. I have no idea what they mean. Yes, I am pretty camera illiterate.
