The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 29

Beth,

The one thing that sticks out in my mind is the fact that she kept backpedaling. I myself would bring this up at the PTA meeting. Just to get a feeling on how everyone else would have handled the situation.

The nerve of her to tell him he was not wrong and making you out the bully. Also she should have taken you into her office. She sounds like a real piece of work

I can see her not wanting to discuss this in the future.

Hope you get some good answers.

Thanks, Terry! I really hate confrontation. I worked to calm myself completely down before I saw her, and I went in with a pleasant attitude. She is the one changed it all around. If she had just come out and told me that it was for liability reasons, there wouldn't have been anything else that I could have said. She is the one who turned it into me not being concerned about my son's safety. If she had just said that she made a mistake by not informing me and apologized, there would have been nothing more that I could have graciously said. One of the problems is that she is going to be at the meeting. I really hate speaking in front of groups of people (as I'm getting sick just thinking about it). I hope I can keep myself strong. The mother bear in me will most likely help with that.

I haven't thought about Christmas cards yet, but would anyone care for a Halloween Eyeball :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

SugarRidgeHalloween2007008.jpg

I don't know about the eyeballs, but I'll take that little cutie that is holding them! The eyeballs are really cool.

Fly-by post...trying to read along as I pack for our trip. :)

Anne Marie, I have a little experience with selling on Ebay. The best advice I can give you is to do a search on whatever you're thinking about selling and then model your auction after those auctions. In other words, do a little research for "key terms," etc. Starting your auctions at a low, reasonable price usually proves beneficial too. PM me if you want to banter about this more. I like the last picture best, because it focuses just on your beautiful kiddos. :goodvibes

Heidi, wow! But are your trick or treat bags done yet? ;) Not that mine are, but I remember you announcing how early you had those ready last year. :rotfl: And, Hallmark is releasing a lot more ornaments, including Disney ones, in October.

Beth, for your situation with the principal. I don't blame you for wanting to knock her block off, especially after her passive aggressive comment to Miles, but if I were you, I'd take a step back to compose yourself. You know, as an educator, what it's like to have one of those days. Instead of doing anything publicly, quietly get a feel for how other parents are dealing with this new change in policy, and call for another meeting with the principal, this time in her office. If she's still defensive and unprofessional, move on to the superintendent with your concerns.

Debbie, thank you so much for the postcard! I can't wait to see more pictures from your trip!

Deb, hope you get a definitive answer to what has/had you feeling off, and I hope you continue to feel better. Your Halloween treats look great!

Tom, trip stress is inevitable, but try your best not to run yourself down! You don't want to be sick on your trip!

Ack, laundry buzzer! I know I'm forgetting people...I'm sorry! Hope everyone is having a great day!

Amy :)

 Hi, Amy! Yes, I know how those days go. (Thankfully I haven't experienced one this year yet!) That is why I walked myself out of her office when I did yesterday. It could have been really ugly. I agree that I don't want to embarrass her in public, so I will keep my thoughts as objective as I possible can tonight and think, think, think before my tongue starts moving.

How is preschool? I wish that I had your little doll in my class. We have such a great group of girls this year (or at least as far as I can tell at this point). The boys are all terrific, too. I hope this lasts!

Yep. The Cinderella pic!:thumbsup2

Tammi - I hope the meds plus settling in at school resolves Alyssa's issues!

Beth - Well, I am completely stumped with this one. I do agree with Theresa - the PTA isn't really the venue for this. Some principals are on a power trip - you do things their way because they say so. My friend had one of those at her DD's school, and she ended up getting a transfer order for the following year because the principal was so bullheaded. If you think meeting with her privately would be productive go ahead and do it, otherwise bite your tongue and move forward.
I survived the dentist. I hope the feeling in my face comes back soon.:rolleyes1 For the bargain price of $500 (AFTER insurance) I will have a new crown in 10-12 working days. For now the same OLD crown has been temp-glued in there AGAIN! He said not to chew on that side. I am trying to decide if I want to try a custom bleach kit. I told the dentist I will talk to him more about it when I go to have the permanent crown glued in. I have been wanting to bleach my teeth for awhile. He is running a special for $200 for 2 custom fit trays and the bleach solution. I just wonder if it will make THAT much of a difference, or if I should wait until I can afford to have them lasered.

The Dr's office called and said they have a new prescription for DS. I will send DH to pick it up - they didn't say if it is just for a stronger dose of his current med or if they are prescribing a short acting "booster" for homework. Guess we'll see!

I'm thinking that may be my best bet.

I'm sorry that you are still having to go back to the dentist. I had hoped that you already had the new crown and were done.

Princess was hugely incensed that I left her at school AGAIN. When we pulled into the parking lot she said "No! No! No!" She got out and walked with me to her classroom just fine, but when she realized I was planning to hand her to the teacher and leave she started to cry. Poor Princess!:sad2:

 for Princess. It really is heartbreaking, isn't it? Is she fine once you leave? How old is she? I thought she was younger than preschool age.

Beth- I cannot imagine how angry you must be. I can't believe after changing the rules without notice, and lying to you she ALSO tried to completely undermine your authority as a parent. She is supposed to be working with you not against you. I honestly don't know what I would do. :wizard:

Thanks, Bernadette! I think just having the validation from all of you helps me considerably.

I see that your choice for Anne Marie is the same as mine. :thumbsup2 I was feeling a little lonely.

 for Princess. It really is heartbreaking, isn't it? Is she fine once you leave? How old is she? I thought she was younger than preschool age.

She is 20 mos., and it is technically "Mom's Day Out" as opposed to preschool. I think she cries because everyone else is crying - she figures there must be a reason to cry! AND they are having all sorts of staffing issues which has 2 classes crammed into one room with 3 teachers. I don't know what is up with the Asst. teacher for Princess's class but she has been out all week. It isn't the best situation for little ones. She comes home starving and grouchy. She doesn't eat her lunch at school. I counted what I put in there this morning and ALL of it came home, yet they marked off that she ate "some". I let her eat when we got home, then I put her in bed. She is asleep now even though they said she napped for an hour.

Tia - Good to see you! I am glad Phil is home and FIL is doing better!:goodvibes

Heidi - Christmas cards? Oh, you mean those things I order at Sam's on Dec. 23? Nope. Haven't given them a single thought! Thanks for asking!

I plotted out our budget for the December trip. With DH working some extra shifts we should have more to put towards the trip. After I pay for that stupid crown! :headache:
I was looking at my banking online to see if any of my refunds from WDW had come through. One was just fine, one wasn't listed yet, and one was only for part of the amount!:scared1: I called and spoke to a CM to find out WHY they only gave back part of my deposit. She looked it up and said they put the credit through in 2 parts on 2 different days. She had no idea WHY they did that. Bizarre. I guess as long as it all gets credited back in the end it's OK, but I found it very odd that they split the refund into 2 parts.

I must admit that I was thinking from when my kids went to school!!!:lmao:
I was able to just go in, talk to the teacher, secretary or whoever I needed to and that was it.
I guess nowadays that trying to take care of this privately is probably better and not with the PTA.

I do hope you get some closure with this, but with what the other mother said, I am thinking you have 'not a chance in you know where'. Just keep knowing that you are doing right with your thinking and she is just clueless.

Deb, those eye balls are awesome. :thumbsup2

Beth, I really hope that you get some closure on this situation. I hate dealing with unreasonable people who haven't a clue how to communicate. It's even worse when they have power to hold over you like she does. I think that I hate your principal. Our principal is so awesome. I just adore her.

Tia, I'm glad that your FIL is doing better. :wizard: for a continued recovery.

It must be PTA night because we have our meeting too. :goodvibes

I see that your choice for Anne Marie is the same as mine. :thumbsup2 I was feeling a little lonely.
There was at least 1 maybe even 2 others who liked that one too. I think it would look great with a Christmassy border.

Heidi - Christmas cards? Oh, you mean those things I order at Sam's on Dec. 23? Nope. Haven't given them a single thought! Thanks for asking!
I think I'll go order my photopass CD now since I haven't heard from them on the missing photos and it seems like more than 5 days. Maybe you could use one of those photos for a card. You had some really great ones!

Photopass CD has been ordered. Once I get it I can upload a few photos and you call all help me decide which photo to use for my Christmas card.

Lots of PD coming your way!

Good Morning DDA!

Sorry that I have been MIA for awhile! I am feeling the 2 week before vacation countdown stress. I have a few things that I have to get done, so I haven't had much DIS time lately!

Me and my big ideas to make costumes for the MNSSHP.:sad2:

I have "TweedleDum" finished, now to make "TweedleDee" and the Alice costume for Leighanna.
I also have a couple of more things that I need to get done too.

My grass needs mowed, the laundry needs done, the house needs cleaned, etc.... etc... etc.... Oh, and I need to fit WORK into the equation too!

DW is in the middle of changing her store over from summer merchandise to winter, so she is trying to get that all completed before we leave too. Not much "free" time to get things done!

Please send Tinker Bell my way so that we might be able to get some things accomplished!
