I called the Principal this morning to discuss the bus seating issue. He is a new Principal this year and readily agreed that the older kids cannot make the younger ones move. He told me that he would talk to the kids before the bus ride home. So the boys came home and the Principal did not go onto the bus. Nick had spoken to a couple of teachers during the day and he did not know that I had in fact called the school. The teachers told him that he did not have to move from his seat. So when he got on the bus this afternoon a 7th grader told him to move and he said "NO" and told him that he had talked to several teachers and he didn't have to. The kids went to the bus driver who confirmed that the Principal had told him that the rules had changed and no one needed to move for anyone. That caused the kids to call Nick a brat and one even said that it was a good thing that he was on the bus (insinuating that he'd do something to him otherwise) I was not happy to hear this. Nick wants me to not call tomorrow and to see what happens. He says that he is not afraid of the older kids and that he can handle it himself. The boy that I feel made threatening comments is the son of a man that I went to high school with. If this keeps up I'll be having a chat with his Dad. His Dad was never a bully. Chris wants to get on the bus and handle things himself, but that would not be a good solution for anyone. So send a few prayers our way that things blow over.

Deb, best of luck with this. and WOOOO for Nick sticking up to the older kids for himself. I would let things go tomorrow and see what he says happened .. as far as Chris getting on the bus ... I've seen pictures ... the kid would probably be standing in apuddle of his own making if Chris were to get on the bus and even say "HI" to him. lol .. good luck thoughts and prayers that things work out for Nick.

Anne Marie- I was also sad to see your trip report end.

I am so sorry that so many of our kids are having a rought start to the school year...I hope it all evens out quickly.

1 DAY:scared1::cool1: :scared1: :yay: :eek: :cheer2:

Let's just say I am kind of panicking. Packing is still not done although I have a pile of stuff in the living room ready to pack. My list of things to locate is shrinking. I have to work tomorrow, I will probably go in early so I can leave early as I have a pedicure at 5:45pm. I will probably not be relaxing but what can you do.

They should do pedicures and massages and things at the airport or in the plane. Once I am too the airport I start to relax once I am in Florida I should be good once I have my luggage. Then I am hitting the store, then Lunch, UCF to realize how bad I don't recognize it and then dinner at Sonny's on Alafaya trail at 6pm, with some of my friends from college.

Then hitting the road to Port Canaveral as we are staying at the Residence Inn at the Port. Depending if we are still awake, maybe hit Ron Jon's Surf Shop or the Beach. Bed although I will be too excited to sleep and Magic in the morning.:cool1: :dance3: :yay: :cheer2:

Oh yeah hoping that there is absolutely no Tropical activity or Hurricanes in the Atlantic or Gulf.

Sending prayers, :wizard:  :grouphug: to everyone.

I think I gotta go work on the dreaded packing. It is my least favorite thing to do. Good night everyone. Tomorrow is gonna be here bright and early.

It's funny because Nick has always been my reserved child which many would perceive as whimpy. Someone pointed out to me today that he is much like DH in the sense that he says very little until he has reached the breaking point then watch out. He obviously doesn't have my temperment which is very good for him.

Deb

Hi, all!

Kim - your scrapbooking is amazing! Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

Anne Marie - loved the rest of your TR! What great pics, too - your family all have such wonderful smiles. :goodvibes It sounds like BC is such a special place to you guys, and after hearing about your experiences there, I can see why! :cloud9:

Heidi - glad John is okay! :scared1:

Vicki - have fun camping, and good luck next week!

Elin - thanks for the encouraging words. We'll see what happens. We're going through some weird things right now, where I'm almost being asked to not do my job (as in, don't go after people as hard as we typically do) which I can't adjust to, and don't see how it can be a good long-term decision for the firm. I'm further seeing how terrible lawyers sometimes are at business. :headache:

Elizabeth - Ugh - I feel for you! I hope everything regarding this school year can get sorted out and into some sort of routine for your family soon. :wizard:

Deb - I think your approach re: the bus is a good thing. I hope all blows over, and kudos to Nick for standing up for himself, and not bowing to the pressure of the older kids. You guys are definitely doing something right! :thumbsup2

Becky - have a wonderful trip, and I hope tomorrow's hours stretch for you so you can get everything accomplished! I'm with you on the pedicure thing at the airport - I was making the same comment to Jonathan a couple of weeks ago when we were killing time in one! You'll have to let me know how the Residence Inn is, as I think that's where we're going to stay pre-cruise in November!

Well, I'm off to bed. I've had a migraine for most of the night, and I think a nice, cold dark room will do me good. Good night, DDA!

Anne Marie - I have really enjoyed reading your TR and looking at all your pictures... thanks!

:dance3: :dance3: Have a wonderfully magical cruise Becky!!!!:dance3: :dance3:

Elin - I thought you would appreciate this. Alyssa had music today for special. She was all proud of herself because she (and all the others) got to play some musical instrument. She described it to me but I have no idea what it is. Anyway they sang songs and such and she told me that when class was over she got to play on the teacher's piano. Apparently only a few were selected to do this. Do you know Mrs. Montrief? She lives in our subdivision. Anyway, she told me she played Itsy Bitsy Spider. I asked her how she knew how to play it and she told me, imagine her voice here, "I just heard the music in my head and it just came out." :rotfl: I immediately thought you would get a kick out of that!

I love it! I know who Mrs. Montrief is, but she came after the people I knew and subbed for. Sounds like you have a budding pianist on your hands, Mom! That is exactly what we hope happens when a child starts to play by ear. :goodvibes

Wow. You got a lot more out of Alyssa than Owen or Shane have told me all week. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: The only thing that I got out of Owen was that Mrs. King was arguing with him (not the other way around) that he had to go to the potty and wash his hands. :rotfl2:

Hasn't he learned yet that Janet King is ALWAYS right? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Before I forget, I won't be around this week-end. Chuck & I are going camping again. Next week, I'll be working a night and week-end migration. They are pilot sites and I'm the manager oversight. I don't know that I'll have much time to get on to chat. I'll just keep reminding myself that it is money for my March trip.

just remember to take care of yourself! :goodvibes

Lindsay - you and Kathrin can commiserate at the Party for the Senses. She is going through a rough time at work too.

Becky - in case the DIS goes down again... have a GREAT TRIP!!!

And now that I am all caught up, I am headed to bed. Good night, DDA!

I'm so sorry Deb. I hope the situation resolves itself soon. :wizard:

Have a wonderful time, Becky!!!!

Good morning!

I hope the Dis works much better today. :wizard:

Morning all...

Yesterday was crazy. I managed to get those few posts in the morning and in the middle of another one it just bottomed out. Thank goodness it's working now!!

I never did get a chance to get back on as after the kids left I had my 6 week OB checkup (in reality it was almost a 9 week checkup) and I didn't get home til about 9pm. I took Lucy and Emma along with me.

Becky- Have a fabulous trip!! Try to relax.

Anne Marie- Loved the trip report and pics!

Elizabeth- I sure hope DS gets into a groove soon. to you and him. I can relate so well to the story of your DH and DS. Eric is very similar in how he deals with Emma. I hope you can make the DDA meet. :wizard:

Kim- Those scrapbook pages amaze me. I am over 4 years behind and am so overwhelmed that I just don't know where to start so my stuff just sits! One of these days.

Deb- :woohoo: for Nick. That's great that he stood up for himself!

Heather- The story of your dad's watch had me in tears. What a wonderful story.

I know I read more but my brain is mush!'s and :wizard: to those I missed.

I have a request for you all.

My niece, Alyssa, is starting a new school today. Can you all send good thoughts her way. Anyway, this will be her 4th school since she started kindergarten in 2005. I feel for her as she has had very little stability in her life since her and my sister moved out of here in Nov 2005. My sister just cannot get her act together and just this past weekend moved back home with my parents. Unfortunately, the one that suffers the most is Alyssa.

Well, I am off. Need to get myself together and then get Emma and Molly ready for school! Will post some pics of Mo later.

Have a great morning DDA!

I hate your son's school bus. I hope that this gets resolved soon. :wizard:

   to Becky!

Hasn't he learned yet that Janet King is ALWAYS right? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

He will. Oh...he will. :rotfl: I had already warned her about his...um shall we say his budding career as a lawyer. :rotfl2: She knows that I give good presents at the end of the year. :goodvibes

Kim- Those scrapbook pages amaze me. I am over 4 years behind and am so overwhelmed that I just don't know where to start so my stuff just sits! One of these days.

Thanks, Robyn. :goodvibes I know how you feel about being behind. It does get overwhelming! Start by sorting your pictures and then work on one thing at a time. Work from the most recent backwards. Good luck! :flower3:

:wizard: foor your niece.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:
