Becky, sorry I missed you. Have a safe and fun time.

Deb, good thoughts that the bus issues do in fact blow over. :wizard:

Got my Disney Insider email this morning. The Haunted Mansion will be re-opening soon, with some spookier (according to the person writing the article) affects.

Since I did my cleaning yesterday while the DIS was down. I can finish watching the rest of Dinosaurs.

Kim- Those scrapbook pages amaze me. I am over 4 years behind and am so overwhelmed that I just don't know where to start so my stuff just sits! One of these days.

Thanks, Robyn. :goodvibes I know how you feel about being behind. It does get overwhelming! Start by sorting your pictures and then work on one thing at a time. Work from the most recent backwards. Good luck! :flower3:

Well, I am about 34 years behind. Does organization count if we have the pictures in bins by decade?

It looks like fun to me too!

Definitely! :goodvibes

How you organize it depends on how you want to sb it or how you want to put them into photo albums. I do family sb's so I organize my chronologically. If you're 34 years behind, it requires a little more thought. ;) I'd be happy to come and help you organize your photos. I organized my moms pictures and she had all of her pics plus her moms. It took about a week to do it when I was down there two summers ago. Let me know if you want help. :)

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

And in case anyone wondered....

Bless you, Kim! If I can find a week somewhere in here I will let you know when to show up! I haven't even started to look at the three boxes of pictures and mementos from my parents' house yet... so I guess there is more like a half a century plus of things to go through!

Now you all have me pumped up to take a look at possibly scrap booking our October trip. It is the first vacation my siblings and I have taken together since 1976, I think.

It is my nephew's first trip to WDW (as well as my brother and SIL too!) so that is important to them.

It is also a major milestone for Kristin's WDW trips since she will FINALLY be old enough to drink at all the kiosks and at the Party for the Senses.

I suppose that means I would need to make :scared: FIVE :scared: scrapbooks?!?!? How would I start? I assume I need to collect "things" as I go along and make certain to preserve them so they can be used. What kinds of things besides pictures?

Now that you have whetted my appetite, I need assistance, please!

And, finally... the end of my P3!

I don't start to teach today until 3:30 but I have lots of paperwork and lesson plans to do. So I am going to take it all out to the patio and enjoy this beautiful morning. Have great days, DDA! :)

I would love to help you organize your century worth of photos (I love old photos) as well as your October trip!!!!

Event scrapbooks are much easier to do than ordinary everyday sb's because there's a definitive start and finish. You have already identified pictures and occasions that you'd like to scrap (gotta learn the lingo, ya know!). That's a start.

I collect everything - ticket stubs, napkins, paperbags (all unused), menus, etc. I don't use it all but I get it just in case. My DH has just given in and now starts to collect stuff for me when we're gone. :rotfl: :rotfl:

For our family trip last summer to Lake Placid, NY, it was a special trip for Ken's grandmother. His whole family went. I did a 6x6 album and had interview pages for each person to sign. Even though Owen couldn't write, he had a page. I had him draw a picture of himself and I did the interview. It would also work for babies and you could stamp their feet imprints onto the page. (Name, age, occupation, hobby, etc.) I also took random pictures (and some preplanned that I knew that I wanted to get). I finished the book, took it to Kinkos and had a copy made for each family member. That was their Christmas present last year.

The most important thing to is...and repeat after me....to understand that you don't have to SB every picture! Repeat it as much as necessary until you believe it! :rotfl:

I so enjoyed your trip report. I hated to see your trip end  Thanks for sharing with us.

Does anyone know if the USPS pins are tradeable? They have some Disney stamp pins, but I can't see the back to see if they have the Disney Stamp on them :confused3

Did you say they have PINS? I didn't know that. If I see any and can get a look at the backstamp I will let you know!:)

It's funny because Nick has always been my reserved child which many would perceive as whimpy. Someone pointed out to me today that he is much like DH in the sense that he says very little until he has reached the breaking point then watch out. He obviously doesn't have my temperment which is very good for him.

Deb

Good luck with the bus! I don't see what is so hard to understand about "you sit in a seat that is open". I think they need to send a letter home outlining rules for riding the bus. We have a sheet of rules for carpool. Everybody ignores them, but the school DOES send it home.:rolleyes1

:dance3: :dance3: Have a wonderfully magical cruise Becky!!!!:dance3: :dance3:

YAY Becky! Have a magical time!

I have a request for you all.

My niece, Alyssa, is starting a new school today. Can you all send good thoughts her way. Anyway, this will be her 4th school since she started kindergarten in 2005. I feel for her as she has had very little stability in her life since her and my sister moved out of here in Nov 2005. My sister just cannot get her act together and just this past weekend moved back home with my parents. Unfortunately, the one that suffers the most is Alyssa.

Good thoughts for Alyssa! I hope she is able to stay at this school for the rest of the year!:wizard:

DS is brushing his teeth, then he will start reading. He has about 25 minutes to finish, so he better chop chop! DH needs to learn to ask questions and LISTEN to the answers, because my bosses are traveling quite a bit in the next month. I will be staying late with Princess, so DS and DH need to get along.

The airfare situation is bleak! Those flights that are so expensive are full (like 7 seats left on the whole plane) so I don't think they will get any cheaper. Of course on SW you can't see the seats so I'll keep watching for DINGs. If DH would trade a day off that week I could go by myself and it wouldn't be such a balancing act for DS, but DH acted like I asked him to cut off his arm instead of trade a day off. They are always asking him to pick up extra shifts, go help other drivers after he finishes his accounts, etc. I hardly think trading a day is an unreasonable request. But whatever.

Have a great day, DDA!:)

You got it Robyn. :wizard: for Alyssa, as well as your sister, that she pulls her life together.

Sort them? How? By occasion? Theme? Or by what you are going to scrap and what you are going to put in an album?

Ok, we really need to get together and work on this sometime!

Sort them? How? By occasion? Theme? Or by what you are going to scrap and what you are going to put in an album?

YMMV but I sort according to how I'm going to scrap them. Sometimes it's theme oriented (like Christmas, a particular vacation) and sometimes it is a random grouping but they're going onto one layout.

For example, if I have a ton of pictures from the summer, I may do a two page layout for the summer that has a picture of each thing that represented our summer instead of scrapping every single event. This will help you get caught up, you won't miss the most important photos and events. The title may be "Lazy Days of Summer" or something like that and then have photos from the pool, Kings Dominion, the beach, getting ice cream...just whatever. Along the same lines, if you have a lot of pictures of Alyssa from a certain period, you can group those photos together and do a layout (Like - Alyssa, age two). It will help you get caught up.

There's all kinds of ways to group your photos and scrap them. I switched to a top loading album from a hinge strapped album (like CM) because I scrap chronologically and it was too hard if I skipped a page or did something out of order or want to go back and change my pages around. A lot of people like the strap hinged but I like the top-loading. It's much easier to switch things around.

I'll help you too. Maybe we should have a photo sorting party instead. ;)
