 all

I am reading along.

Hi, Heidi! I hope you're doing okay (but I can totally understand the funks we all sometimes get in)!

Well, congratulations on only 64 more days, I hope they fly by! I'm glad the group doesn't seem too bad!

We loved BCV! I really think that I prefer SSR as our home resort (for reasons I will be glad to disclose, but won't bore you with otherwise), but it was so perfect for this trip! We had an excellent time, and I hope to get pictures and a report going soon! Not that you'll have time to read them until the fall, but still! ;)

I should clarify, as well. Real life isn't all that bad. Kyle is still on vacation until tomorrow, I've been back at work 2 days now and still just love it, etc. There's truly only one aspect of it that has me down.... and it has me REALLY down at times, but for the most part things couldn't be better and life is wonderful! Thank you though, for your encouragement! :goodvibes

Well, glad to hear the adjustment to RL hasn't been too bad. :goodvibes I'd love to hear your thoughts on BCV, and why you prefer SSR. (We would likely too, but I always love hearing opinions! :thumbsup2 )

This is the little boy who passed away from drowning Sat. Mark worked hard to get his dad back state side from deployment in Qatar.
It was one of the worst days/nights of Mark's job this past year.

http://obit.horanandmcconaty.com/obit_display.cgi?id=419948&listing=Current

That is so incredibly sad, and I can imagine how tough it is for Mark to have to do things like this. DH's former boss is in the National Guard, and used to have to do things like that for the whole state of Texas - he had some heart-wrenching stories.

We don't say it enough - we all appreciate all that you and Mark (and others like you) do to serve this country!

I can't remember the last time I wasn't busy. The kids are asking when they can have their friends over and I keep telling them it has to be some day that I am not working and since I work about 6 nights a week it ain't looking good for them. :confused3 Someday I will have a life again, really :rotfl:

Let me know if you figure out how! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I had my mammogram 1-1/2 weeks ago. I skipped them for the last two years (not intentionally but I forgot my appointments & never rescheduled). After posting about it a couple of weeks ago, I decided I should take my own advice. The results came back and all is well.

Good news! :thumbsup2

We went to an Awards Banquet last night where Becky got a scholarship. She has turned into such a young lady. I miss my little girl sometimes.

Yay, Becky! And congratulations on graduation! :woohoo:

I see that there are finally a few of us here to chat. I miss the old days:sad1:

I do, too - but at the same time, it's nice to know that we'll all be here for each other whenever the time allows.

Here's the link to the table:

I will go get my pic's put on CD just for you all...I promise by Friday I will bore you with pics!@!

Very nice, Theresa! Looking forward to more pics!

Just keep posting. Alan finally signed on to the DISboards, and so now he lurks. I keep tellng him you all are nice, so "play nice" DDA.

Yes, I made my doctor's appointment. I have to have the ob before I can schedule the mammogram, so I'll keep you posted!

Hi, Alan! :goodvibes

Poor Becky has a broken heart. Her boyfriend has told her he isn't sure he is in love with her. He says he loves her and wants to go out with her and stay friends but doesn't think he wants to be exclusive. This is a really nice young man and I feel for her. I hope that they can remain friends because he is good for her.

I think we've all been there. Tell her to concentrate on what makes her happy, keep busy with her friends, and don't let him take advantage of her time and emotions when it's convenient for him (spoken from experience  ). Hugs to her!

Bernadette - still enjoying your TR, and more great pics! That dessert looked yummy from the GG - I don't remember getting that when we had dinner there last year! Also enjoyed your Hidden Mickey in your Guiness. ;) We need to see pictures of your finished pearl necklace, too!

I love those lights and the white ones too.

:wizard: :wizard: and congrats for Becky

Sending :wizard: and :grouphug: to everyone.

Somehow it is midnight again and I have no idea where the time went.:confused3 :confused3 Off to bed so I can get up for my busy hump day.

Have a good hump day, Becky!

I think I might know what happened to Kristine.

I was checking out some new designs from Patnl34 and Kristine quoted a design and stated that it looked vaguely familiar.

I am thinking they are taking her designs and changing them a little and then calling them their own. :sad2:

That is very unfortunate. :sad2:

I might have. I got a Mickey Monitor yesterday, so I am pleased about that! If we got the thing from DDE I probably didn't pay attention since I knew we weren't going to be there for those dates.

I am going for an interview on Thursday evening with Dadboss's co-worker. My friend told me yesterday that the little baby I interviewed with a couple of weeks ago is going to daycare. I am glad they didn't hire me and then decide to put him in daycare a month or so into the job!:scared1: The mom works for a giant corporation so it wouldn't surprise me if they have on-site daycare.

:woohoo: on the Mickey Monitor! If memory serves, the DDE announcements come via e-mail - I didn't pay much attention to it either!

Congrats on the interview - I hope it goes well! :thumbsup2

Almost packed and ready to go! Just need to stop by the store for a few more things - and make sure Bob didn't pack 12 pairs of shorts like he normally does. Other than that, I'm ready to go!!!

...and I know what you're going through with introducing new cats to a household! When Bob moved in he brought his two, and I had my two. Annabelle does NOT get along with his at all...

Have a fabulous time in Vegas, Chanon!

Hey Strangers! :wave2:

Hope all is well with everyone! We have been super busy, enjoying spring!

Amy :)

Hi, Amy! Good to see you. :goodvibes As always, your signature pics are just adorable. Also noticed that you have a new ticker - when are you guys going to be there? Are you staying at OKW, or elsewhere!

What a SUCKY topic! I am really sorry!

The only reason I can think of is that so many other countries are run by men, and those cultures view women as subservient so they might not cooperate with a woman. (Of course there are plenty of other countries run by women, and they seem to be managing just FINE, so it isn't a very strong arguement.) The teacher really messed up with this one - she set Riley up to fail because there isn't a way to win this. You would think she would have assigned topics where there really are valid points on BOTH sides.

Very good points!

Of course, my DH likes to joke that a woman shouldn't be president because she can too easily fly off the handle for a certain week out of every month! :rotfl: But, I wouldn't recommend that Riley use that in his debate!

I just spoke to a terrific mom about a nanny job, but I have a feeling I am too expensive for them. The nanny they have now didn't have any nanny experience when they hired her, so I can't imagine that she is making top market salary. This sounds like a fabulous job so maybe we can still work something out. I might be able to come down a tiny bit on salary, but we'll have to see what they come back with. The mom is going to chat with the dad and see what he says. That's usually where things fall apart.:rotfl:

At least it sounds like you're getting some options, and your name is out there!

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, what I should be doing but somehow I am still here.:lmao: :rotfl2:

Zoo, zucchini

FABULOUS!!! I'm printing off a zoo sign, and I'll grab a zucchini at the store later! Thanks! You ROCK!!!

So I have an interview on Saturday with the "no TV, no driving, only organic food" family. The agent said they are an incredibly nice family, which I am sure they are, I just don't think I want to work in a prison.

I am kicking myself for actually telling that mom from this morning what my salary requirements are. I should have said it's negotiable. Then again, it really ISN'T negotiable. Even if I came down a dollar an hour on salary it is only a $2500 difference over the course of a year. I can't imagine that a $2500 "discount" would be that much of a help. Maybe it would, but it seems like a relatively small amount of money to be a deal breaker. Hopefully she will call me back, then I can suggest that we set up an interview and we can consider negotiating the salary if everyting else seems like it will be perfect.

Opinion needed (sorry for the long post below)...

My mom has a good friend that is planning to take her grandchildren (boy, 4, and girl, 2.5, at the time), daughter, and son-in-law to WDW next October. She has been before (as has her daughter), but it's been probably at least 10 years since they were there last. She has asked (via my mom) for me to assist her with some planning, which I'm more than happy to do - she has even offered to pay me for my advice (but nothing has been worked out).

So, she e-mails my mom last night with the dates they're thinking of traveling and mentions in there about sending gifts to her grandkids in advance of the trip. (I've been doing this for the entire year prior to our big family trip in December for my 5 nieces/nephew, which I'm sure my mom has told her about.) The way she phrases it, I think she's just asking my mom if she thinks starting a year out is too early, but come to find out, my mom's friend is actually wanting to know if I will purchase, package, and mail these gifts to her grandkids for her. :scared1:

I did send off an e-mail to my mom that I wasn't aware that this was what she's thinking, that I'd have to think about if I wanted to do it and if it's something I could even handle, and if I did do it, I would definitely charge her (and not just for the gifts, supplies, and postage).

So, what would you guys do? If I did do it, what should I charge beyond the costs of the gifts and shipping? (I'm trying to think what I paid for gift baskets from people like Feralpeg - and that's just a one time gift - this would be multiple times!)

Hey Strangers! :wave2:

I'm not sure if anyone else posted this yet, but this looks like lots of fun for the little ones!

Playhouse Disney Live! Heading to 70 U.S. Cities
Playhouse Disney Live!, the first U.S. live touring stage production featuring favorite characters from four shows in Disney Channel's popular Playhouse Disney program block for preschoolers, is set to launch a 70-city tour this September, it was announced today by Thomas Schumacher, president of Disney Theatrical Productions, and Kenneth Feld, chairman and CEO of Feld Entertainment.

Produced by Feld and his daughter, Alana Feld, for Feld Entertainment, in conjunction with Disney Theatrical Productions, the show spotlights characters from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins and Handy Manny, as well as the stars of a brand new show premiering this month, My Friends Tigger & Pooh. Tickets for all 2007 U.S. engagements will go on sale Tuesday, May 15th.

Playhouse Disney Live! represents the first time that characters from this enormously popular block of Disney Channel's Playhouse Disney programs will be together on the same stage, creating interactive moments for children and their families. The original storyline follows this colorful cast as they set off in their own unique ways to create and contribute songs and music for an unforgettable musical party at Mickey's Clubhouse.

Hope all is well with everyone! We have been super busy, enjoying spring!

Amy :)

Oh, man! There's no show coming close to us. The closest is Phoenix, and I'm not driving 8 hours to see this. Too bad. My kids just love Handy Manny and the rest, too! It would've been fun.

Glad to see you posting, Amy! I hear you about enjoying Spring! I've been spending quite a bit of time in my swing, reading and enjoying the sunshine!

How are the kids?

Lindsay - Just say no.;)
Tell your mom's friend you will be happy to send her a list of suggestions, and she can be responsible for purchsing, packaging, and shipping. You have plenty of other things going on, and I don't think you want this hanging over your head for the next YEAR. I wouldn't want it hanging over my head!

I got a completely VAGUE e-mail back from the agency about the family with the wonky hours. I told them I will interview if the family is interested, so we'll see where that goes. My friends have said the agency is fond of telling nannies that they "just aren't what the family is looking for" so that may be what I end up hearing.

Congrats Becky..I know how you feel. Katie is only 11 & I really miss my little girl .:sad1:

That's good to hear. I got the paperwork to get my first one done back in January, but haven't made the appt. yet. I guess I need to get off my butt and do it.
Yep, me too.:upsidedow

I just got an e-mail from the family I was waiting to hear from. OK, so I e-mailed them and asked for an update, but I only have 90 days left in my job so I am starting to get fidgety. Their nanny is definitely leaving after her baby is born, so they want to interview me. This is good. Progress is very good!:)
Sounds promising.

Before I go, I'm asking for another favor: we are looking for objects that begin with Z for Mary to take in the Sound Box to preschool on Thursday. So far, I have a zipper, a zebra and zig-zag (rick rack from my sewing box.) Do any of you fabulous people have any more ideas? Thanks.

I could use some help please :flower3:

Riley's class is going to have debates on different subjects & the teacher chose which subject they would debate. Well lucky Riley(I am being sarcastic)gets to debate why a women should not be president. I will help him with the research but was hoping maybe some of you might give me some cons as to why a women should not be president? He will be debating against a girl in his room who will be stating why a women should be voted in, this should be interesting.

Thanks for any help!
Wow, thats some topic. I wouldn't have been thrilled with that either. I like what Amy said regarding the bible quotes but I can't think of anything else.

Oh, if I were to decide to do it, it would only be for 6 mos., tops. I already have enough going on that I definitely would not have time to add this to my repertoire for this fall, even if I wanted to. (I fear I will be knee deep in putting together the 5 custom autograph books I need to do at that time!)

I totally agree, here! This sounds like it could be HUGE, and with you starting your summer stuff, you probably don't need the added stress this would bring.

Lindsay - It depends on the personality of the friend, but I just think if she is paying you that things could get ugly if she decides your services aren't up to her expectations. Better to make her do it herself. If you think she can keep in mind that this is a FAVOR and not your career then it might be OK. I just wouldn't want to feel pressured to mail packages out on a deadline if it was going to interfere with my other obligations.

I probably missed you but.........
HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!

Chanon Have a great trip!!
Deb

Well I missed Chanon, but save travels and have a wonderful time.

Have a fabulous time in Vegas, Chanon!
Haven't left yet! But thanks for the well wishes! The storms pasted through last night, so we should have clear weather departing today. We aren't leaving until 3pm from the house and flight leaves at 6p - should be in Vegas by 7:45 west coast time.

Just say no. :teeth: OR if you really want to do this, decide beforehand that your only sending out say...2 packages, three cards from characters and the scrapbooks for the kids. Then stock up at things from the Under $10 store while at Disney next time!

HAVE A BALL, CHANON & BOB!!! :yay:

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that her name is Patricia Whack.

"Miss Whack, I'd like to get a $30,000 loan to take a holiday."

Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name. The frog says his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's okay, he knows the bank manager.

Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some collateral.

The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny porcelain elephant, about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed.

Very confused, Patty explains that she'll have to consult with the bank manager and disappears into a back office.

She finds the manager and says, "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000, and he wants to use this as collateral."

She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what in the world is this?"

(you're gonna love this)

The bank manager looks back at her and says...

"It's a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan, His old man's a Rolling Stone."

(You're singing it, aren't you? Yeah, I know you are........)

Never take life too seriously! Come on now, you grinned, I know you did!!!
Have a lovely day.

HEEE HEEE!!!!!
