Welcome home, Jen!

I just went to buy gift cards for DS's teachers. Tomorrow is the last day of school and I realized I didn't have anything for them! They had their awards today. The video montage wasn't too long, but the photos weren't the best. DS wasn't even in it, except for in the class photo. I bought him a yearbook instead.

DS got a perfect score on the Science TAKS! We are so proud of him!! He also got commended performance in Math and Reading. His other awards were Outstanding Performance in Reading, Art, and Science, as well as a citizenship award that was voted on by his peers.:flower3:

Not even considering the medication issues you had over the year, that is amazing! Way to go DS!!!!!

I wanted to post a couple pics so you guys could see the awesome shirts deb made us..and the grad hats we bought in mk

Oh, I  those hats! The little mortar board on top is so cute and much easier to handle than the bigger ones they had previously.

Good morning, All!

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

I have an easy day ahead of me. I can't believe it! Kristin went to James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, to visit friends for the weekend and I don't have any classes or private lessons today. Bob is headed to work in a minute or two. Button and I will have the house to ourselves! Also, I have another school-wide recital tonight, but I don't have to be at the Liberry until 3:30 or so. I plan to work on our California Trip and on my little flower garden (which is starting to sprout!) and soak up some sunshine and maybe read.

Elin, I love your new signature! I want to just sit here and watch it all day!:rotfl2: It sounds like you have a very nice day ahead! Enjoy!

Hi Tom! Vacations just go to quickly, hope you enjoyed your time off!

Tom, DH can relate! Seems people want chips with their buns. Your DVD sounds cool!

I was just asking the boys yesterday if they would like to go to the zoo! We haven't been in a long time.

Hi Elin :)

I would love to take the kids to the zoo if it would stop raining!

I did, but I don't know if we're going. I am trying to go to MNSSHP, but who knows if it will actually happen. We have a reservation for free dining (because I'm not going to miss that opportunity). Currently, we may only do MNSSHP and one other park day, but we'll see. I guess I have until mid-Aug to make it work. Going to Disney World is all Terra has been talking about for weeks now and about a quarter of the time it is about Halloween at Disney World since we checked out a Disneyland Halloween Sing-a-Long at the library a couple of months ago.

I hope it does work out, Tia! I have been itching to plan a short trip in December but I can't just yet. I need to get settled in my new job first, then see about putting a trip together.

Not even considering the medication issues you had over the year, that is amazing! Way to go DS!!!!!

Thank you!:)

It is so nice to have an extra 30 minutes in the morning! Since I don't have to take DS to school first I can relax for a little while! Dadboss is taking Sister out of town this weekend, but I already pulled out her clothes. Dadboss just needs to tell me which bag he wants her to bring. We need to figure out what to do about the schedule for dress rehearsal, but that isn't until 6:30 so I don't really have to deal with anything for that. It would be better for her not to go to Taekwondo, and a nap would probably be wise. I need to see what time Shrek is showing.

Quick synopsis on spring in the Hardman household:

--3 trips to Kings Island
--2 trips to the zoo
--countless trips to the park
--first trip "home" (Old Key West) booked for December 1-8
--Matthew is crawling and creeping all over the place (he even attempted the stairs this morning :scared: )
--Alyssa is 95% potty-trained and loves public bathrooms
--Kevin is unopposed (again) in the fall election
--Party planning is underway for a big celebration on 07/07/07
--we're attending a family reunion in Canaan Valley, WV from 6/30-7/3
--I'm never, ever going to catch up on the laundry

That's all I can think of right now. :)

Sounds pretty good all around. Oh, and just give up on the laundry. Even if you think that you are caught up, there are little sprites that will sneak things into the hamper when you aren't looking. (These are the same sprites that steal single socks, and apparently my daughter's panties since they seem to be disappearing at a rapid rate.)

I have Glynis' lemon pork chops in the crockpot and now I'm off to read Jen's TR.

That reminds me that I was going to ask something....Glynis, do you use boneless or bone-in tighs on the lime chicken nachos?

Terra is FAR too young to be losing her panties!;)

Just a drive-by post letting you all know that all is well in the U.P. I was in Lansing for the last couple of days. Got home at midnight last night. I hoped to take off today and tomorrow but just too much work to do so I worked all day and will work most of tonight and tomorrow morning. Hoping I'll be able to get done by noon tomorrow. I have lots of relatives and friends coming in for Becky's graduation. There is still so much to get done before they arrive. The people that Becky really wanted to be able to come are all planning on being here. She doesn't know about my brother and his baby son yet. That is a surprise for Saturday. Talk to you later. I'm off to pick up dinner so we don't starve.

Your brother that lives in Japan? That is so cool! Congratulations to Becky and I hope that you all enjoy the weekend together!!!

Cassidy has Marching Band Fees, Activity Fees, Yearbook($65)...a few other things I am blocking right now....she will have AP fees in Junior/Senior years

Abi....6th grade overnight trip, activity fees, yearbook (though we ended up with a yearbook each of Cassidy's 3 years at Goddard...we think we had a fairy godmother), locker fee.

It adds up to about $300 for Cassidy and $200 for Abi. Add to that clothes and I may see a paycheck in October. ;)

What is a locker fee and why do they need them? I had forgotten about all of the little fees that pop up in those later school years.

I have a friend who is graduating from Seminary soon and her first church assignment is Billings....our old stomping grounds!! I was so excited for her because it will be HER church, she is going in as senior pastor, she gives a great sermon.

Her oldest graduated from Littleton today and has been accepted into the Coast Guard Academy.

They are having a blow out party on Sunday. I had the hardest time deciding what to give either one of them for presents. I found the Kermit autobiography that just screamed Sara Jane (the daughter). Then yesterday I had a brilliant idea (they don't happen very often lately) and called our favorite restaurant in Billings and they are sending a GC. The owner even called me back. I am also thinking of giving her a Heppner Guide to Billings...what do you all think??

Great idea on the Billings gifts! I think they are both very personal, helpful and fun!

I am glad Riley is feeling OK!

Marci - Are your boys out of school after tomorrow?

Yes -- the boys got out about 2:30 yesterday. They were so excited! Congrats to your DS -- those are awesome grades.

Glad you guys are getting the postcards!!

I didnt take a purple rose, but i did get a picture therea nd think about June--i didnt think to take the rose

I got mine yesterday, too. Thank you very much -- you did a great job on them!

Elizabeth - Congrats to your DS for his grades! You should be proud.

I am also crowing tonight, as Kristin's second semester grades were posted and she has another set of A's. That makes the 4th semester in a row that she has gotten straight A's and her GPA is 3.79 right now. I am delighted with her, to say the least! :)

Congrats to Kristin. Enjoy your quiet day today!

Well, im getting a bit discouraged.
2 of my closest friends both have found jobs for the fall. Im so happy for them but i feel like ill never get a job. They have both had a ton of interviews and i had one..

I know things will look up and its early yet, just feeling a bit down tonight

Hang in there! You'll get a job. When were they supposed to make a decision on the one you interviewed for?

Good job on the gifts!

I can't find anything that says it can't be typed. I've checked the parent letter and the Rubrix she sent home. I also wrote a note explaining that he spent 7 hours on it last night. I have a feeling that he added way more details then he needed. It is quite a detailed book report. It ended up being 3 1/2 typed pages. I was very surprised how much he remembered from each chapter.

I hope the teacher understands! Andrew is taking a keyboarding class in summer school -- I'm so glad they offer it.

The games were rained out last night -- that was a heck of a storm that came through. Of course, I was driving home in it, and just managed to outrun it about 10 miles from home. Luckily, what ended up in Kaufman wasn't nearly as bad as what Dallas had. The storm took a curve and we only got part of it.

We're off this evening to a lakehouse that Randy's best man and his wife built last year near Austin.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial day weekend!

Terra is FAR too young to be losing her panties!;)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

It's really perplexing me too as I don't know what is happening to them! I am usually the one to put the clothes in the hamper and yet no panties seem to come out of the wash. I bought a bunch of news ones a month or so ago because of this problem and no it is repeating. Darned sprites! ;)

Good morning everyone! I hope the day is looking good for you all.

Elizabeth, I totally understand the extra time being helpful. Yesterday I went back to sleep after I took Phil to work and feel like my day was off kilter all day. This morning, I got some stuff done and caught up here and I already feel like it is a better day even if I missed the extra hour or two of sleep.

I guess I'd better get my daughter dressed as we need to leave soon. My wonderful father made all sorts of plans today for Mom's car to be in the shop all day and to pick up the air purifier he had in Rachel's classroom (he sells them) all year up at school (must be done today). Then he calls last night and says, "Oh I'm taking a run to Wisconsin and won't be back until tomorrow afternoon sometime. Can you figure out how to get the car in?" (And get Mom to work, and pick up the purifier, and go to the grocery store, and pick Phil up - you know all of the other things that he forgot we needed to do today.) Luckily, Kristi is home today so we'll stop and borrow her car and then Terra and I will just walk home from her house.

Have a good day everyone!

What program did you end up using? And, I know I am in the minority here, but I understand Bob's puzzlement. I think it really depends on the people involved in the trip. We only spent one of our 50+ trips looking for characters and standing in line for autographs. After that the kids showed absolutely no interest in them at all. So, unless Bob's DD has a desire to interact with characters I can identify with his wanting to ride rides instead of character visitations. :rotfl:
ULead VideoStudio.

I think with my kids' ages, their interest in characters will diminish soon, so this all might be a mute point anyway, which is sad because Alyssa just got unafraid of them! :lmao:

Tammi - I hope you find a little traffic angel to sit on your shoulder tonight. I do NOT envy you the drive down 95. Friday nights are bad enough on a normal weekend, but tonight's drive promises to be brutal. Be safe!
Thanks Elin. I'm going to leave a bit early today, but I know that no matter when I leave, I'm still in for a loooong afternoon. :sad2:

Tammi reminded me of something.
I made a DVD of last year's Disney vacation on our new computer.
I am quite proud of how it came out. I added captions and of course Disney music that related to each set of pictures that I had. It ended up being almost 40 minutes long!
I gave a copy to each of my family members and they have enjoyed it. It has become one of Leighanna's favorite DVD's. I just love to hear her singing Disney songs! My Mom shows it to EVERYONE that she knows! She can't wait for the next one to come out!:) I visited her on Wed. and took her to her doctors appointment, and afterwards, she wanted to show it to me. I told her that I spent a week making it, and that I have seen it probably 40 times already. She just didn't understand me not wanting to see it again!;)

Have a great day all!

Time to get some sleep and start my work day (night) all over again!

125 DAYS PEOPLE! 125 MORE DAYS!
What program did you use, Tom? Mine isn't that high-tech, but I do want to learn how to do all of that. Wanna teach me???

I have in my head, does that help? I really want to get into digital scrapbooking and have done a lot of reading on it over the last year or so. I just hadn't had a program, memory space, or time to get started. Now the program and space part are taken care of and I am hoping to get started with some old family pictures that I have been asked to scan and save.

My best advice is to look for all of the freebies out there! There are a lot of sites with a few or even many free elements and coordinated kits that you can download to use while you are starting out.

I don't remember which site it is now, but one site has a pretty good digital scrapbooking "101" article that you can read. It seemed to capture a lot of the info I was looking for.

Alot of it is just finding the elements, having a design program to use them in and then moving things around the page until you know what you want.

If you try any, post a link to the pages as I'd love to see them!
I've heard about the free kits that can be downloaded. But I want to know....can the elements be used more than once, or are they gone after you use them?
