Judy Blume's Tales of a Forth Grade Nothing

He said that he totally relates to it since he has a little brother of his own

One of my favorite Judy Blume books!!! That is a great series!!

Maybe it's his age....I keep thinking the same thing:confused3 But if my kids want to than we will.

My kids would tend to agree with Bob, we autograph hunt for me :lmao: They do get into it, but it is usually because they know that I want the autographes. That's why they are happy that I'm creating one giant autograph book that we can just add to rather than collecting the same autographs each trip. Of course Colby still likes to have his picture taken with the characters so there is still some hope

Cassidy has Marching Band Fees, Activity Fees, Yearbook($65)...a few other things I am blocking right now....she will have AP fees in Junior/Senior years

Abi....6th grade overnight trip, activity fees, yearbook (though we ended up with a yearbook each of Cassidy's 3 years at Goddard...we think we had a fairy godmother), locker fee.

It adds up to about $300 for Cassidy and $200 for Abi. Add to that clothes and I may see a paycheck in October. ;)

I guess I got very, very lucky, as I never paid a fee for Marching band, regular band, chorus, musical, Key club, Spanish club, etc. Then again these all fell under our athletic renamed student activity dept and they had almost 10,000 at football games for a high school 10-12th grade with 1200 students. So they raised a lot of money which helped support this stuff.

I did work my butt off at spaghetti dinners, car washes, bake sales, selling candy, fruit, pizza kits, annual carnival, marching band shows, musicals, so on and so forth. So technically I did pay for my end of year trips but they were all through fund raisers.

But there was no general fee to participate in marching band, musical, band, etc. I could participate in the musical and not have to pay a fee, I might have had to purchase parts for a costume. But most years they rented costumes and the students did not even have to pay to rent them. I could have participated and chose to not go on the big end of the year trips and not really spent anything. Any smaller trips which used school busses were at no cost to us, although if the location we were going charged a fee we would have to pay something, but that was mostly with class field trips. Although there were some students who could not afford the whole end of year trips and through the fund raisers, if they participated there was money available to help them as a scholarship type program.

I also don't remember having to pay AP class fees, might have but I don't remember doing so.

However the older I get the more I realize how lucky I was to be in an awesome school district that had all these things at free or low cost to the students.:thumbsup2 All the more reason why I want to have a non-profit organization which helps kids to be able to do extracurriculars which they might not otherwise have access to especially in the arts because I feel they are so underfunded and left out at so many places. It is the easy to get rid of non-money making thing in many schools. Therefore many schools no longer offer art and music at all, let alone at a fee.

OK, I'm getting off my soapbox and into bed. I told myself I was going to bed at 10pm, its now almost midnight. Me and working early everyday for a week does not go well. Especially when I didn't sleep hardly at all over the weekend.

Goodnight all. I need to wind down and get some sleep. I hate days like today, but alas tomorrow is just minutes away

I just sent it to your Juno address. Is that still current?

Deb

for another month!!! I love reading book reports....I am such a goober!!:rotfl2:

Good night, hope your Friday is better than today.

Goodnight. I'm going to bed too. It's back to work tomorrow, and I'm dreading the drive home that I will have, with all the getaway traffic for the holiday weekend.

Seems I have my work cut out converting him to a WDW fan. His response to the character stuff...."why spend all that time waiting in line when you could be riding???"

Tammi- I would not discount your ability to converting Bob on the Disney just because he does not "get" character interaction.

I am not big on characters, never have been probably won't ever be. I think I had pictures with characters two times besides my character breakfast at Cape May Cafe on my last trip. The one was a Visa meet and greet the other time Chip and Dale had absolutely no one around and they started interacting with me as I was walking out of EPCOT to go to the Boardwalk.

I do not like waiting in lines to see characters. If I want to see characters I will do a character breakfast, it gives me the chance to have the interaction I want without taking time away from other things I would rather be doing such as riding rides, watching shows, swimming, relaxing, etc.

The thing I love about Disney is there is something for everyone. If you want to ride rides, yep you can do that.:thumbsup2 If you want to spend your time meeting characters, yep you can do that.:thumbsup2 If you want to watch shows, yep you can do that.:thumbsup2 If you want to eat in lots of different restaurants, yep you can do that.:thumbsup2 If you want to golf, fish, SCUBA dive yep you can do that.:thumbsup2 If you want to sit relax and people watch, yep you can do that.:thumbsup2 I can keep going but I think I have said enough.

We are all Disney addicts here, well at least I will admit to my addiction whether everyone else wants to or not that is up to them. We all have something Disney related which has brought us together. However if I asked every single one of the DDA members what they love about Disney I would get many, many different answers. We all love Disney, but what exactly is Disney??:confused3 It is what causes the magic for us and what every single one of us makes it out to be.

Give Bob more time, he will probably come around eventually.:thumbsup2

Becky-

what a great idea for a non profit!! I would love to be able not to worry about how I am going to be able to afford the fees. We are lucky in that our marching band fees is on the low end...it can cost up to $1000 for some of the bands around here:confused3 :scared1: . I think Abi is feeling that espescially...she doesn't want to switch instruments because of the cost (it's cheaper to buy another instrument than rent).

Have a good night's sleep!!

Deb-

Thanks for reading it. Does it seem too long to you?

a little...and he never mentioned Fudge's real name. But the length also shows how much he liked the book, the teacher will be able to better tell him where to cut but I think it's great.

She may or may not. She has complained all year that he doesn't include enough details, but I think he must have this time. :goodvibes

Now he needs to come up with a project to accompany the report. Hopefully he comes up with something simple. He now has one week to write the final draft, make a project and prepare an oral report which cannot be read. That is always tough for him. He will need to practice many times at home for that.

Ok, I'm really going to bed now.
