triplefigs said:Thank you to Lynn and Deb for calling me today. I just got home and found out about June. I am just heartbroken. I just feel so lucky that I was able to meet her and Melanie at WDW in December. June went out of her way to show up at the Family Magic Tour our last day to see me and the kids. She was just wonderful. John is very upset and said he just remembered how cheerful she was that day.
I don't know if anyone has thought about donating money for a memorial gift or not. Since June loved Disney so much, I was wondering about donating to a local charity here that takes sick/disabled kids to WDW each year. The families don't have the resources available to do it on their own. Just a thought. I hoped June might like that since she always had to work so hard to get what she had.
One last note, didn't June's husband pass away years ago? I hope they are in Heaven right now having a most joyous celebration and reunion.
God bless you, June. You were loved deeply and will be missed immensely. I am so blessed to have known you, even for such a short time.
Kristine that is just beautiful and so true.KristineN said:

UP Disney said:I think that's a great idea Denise. I've been hearing from many people wondering if we are going to put something together. I wasn't sure if people wanted to send money to Melanie or pool money and do something together. I'm happy to coordinate it if no one else wants to.

triplefigs said:That would be great. The charity is called Bert's Big Adventures and has been sanctioned by Pete Werner as ok for the DIS. It is a non-profit. Here's the link. http://www.bertsbigadventure.org/
Every Jan or Feb they take terminally ill or severely disabled kids and their immediate families (siblings, parents, etc) to WDW for about 6 days. They pay for everything. The kids are nominated by doctor's,and all of them do not have the money to go on their own. They get lots of special tours and treatment by WDW. Kate and I talked about donating shirts to them for next years trip for the kids. I just think June would really like it.
