The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 13

Well since it's the DDA we could do this almost anyway we wanted to:just for holidays, once a month, theme months (I do this myself because I like trying to fit things into a theme), all disney, all adults, all kids, a mix.


Let's keep talking about it and then tomorrow night I'll come to the rest of you all with some sort of plan...how does that sound?

Does anyone know if most hospitals allow personal cd players with headphones??

The reason I am asking is I was thinking of maybe burning some CD's of Disney music and sending them along with a personal CD player( I have one I'm not using), headphones and lots of batteries for June. This way she can listen to the sounds of Disney or other music while in the hospital. If I do this I will post what music I sent her and if anyone else wants to send her some music they could. This is if we feel that she could have one in the hospital. Let me know what you think.

Great idea! I bet they would allow them, but probably don't encourage it because they could be stolen. (They let me use my laptop in mom's room in ICU today.) I'll ask them tomorrow.

Beth-loving all your photos. I've been meaning to tell you I really loved your photos from outside POC. I actually missed most of those details while chasing the kids around. I missed that sign above too. I think I need to go back!

Becky-I was thinking of trying to get June some Disney stories on CD but worried that she might not have a player. I was thinking of Mary Poppins or Lion King would have a sort of ageless apeal. We have lots that my kids enjoy in the car and while some are pretty childess I would think some have some broad appeal. I got a great deal on most of mine at a local discount store so I'll try to get there at lunch one day this week.

I wonder if I could "burn" them from the ones I've already got? I would think I could copy think you could do it just like music right?

You should be able to burn them just like a music CD.

Well here is a school update....

My class, which was originally scheduled for Friday 8am-10:40am is rescheduled for Thursday night 4:45pm-7:15pm..Im glad that the class was rescheduled, as opposed to being cancelled, but im still SO frustrated.

Thursday was the one day that i was going to be able to work...now, im going to have to drive down there in rush hour traffic, on a day that i wouldnt have had to drive the 45 minutes there and back!

Just another thing to make me anxious about this week. TOmorrow, i have 2 of my sociology classes and my art one

Thanks for dealing with me the last couple of days--i am petrified and driving myself crazy!

Today was Kaelyn's first day of school. When I asked her how it went, she said, "It was great! I really enjoyed it!" Phew! We're definitely happy with our choice now. Thanks for listening to me vent about the schools.

I'm back from weight watchers. I am a little disappointed as I thought that they would weigh me and measure me and help me set goals, but they just sent me home with a ton of reading. I'm hoping that once I read through everything it will make more sense. I'm off to bed now to read. Have a great evening.

when i was in icu i had a travel dvd player thing a majig(mind blank what they are called) and i also used my dads laptop when i was in private room. so i guess they would.

I'm so glad that the class wasn't cancelled! At least you won't have to deal with that pain! Sorry it was rescheduled so yucky for you! Good luck with your "ology" class! Wish I could help, but I didn't do so well in my "ologies."

Looks like we might have some interest in getting a secret pal DDA program going.

I would be happy to spearhead this adventure if there is a good number of us.
We could also add kids to the mix if we want.

I am sorry to say that there is no update on June and I really had no time to myself today to try to get in touch with Melanie. If someone would like a phone number for Melanie so that you can keep better tabs on the situation, please PM me and I will be glad to share with the first one to offer.

As it is now, Tuesdays are NOT good. I left the house at 8:40 a.m. and got home at 9:45 p.m. I was home for 45 minutes to eat lunch and finish up my last set of lesson plans and finished my lunch in the car on the way back into town. So, I may not be the best contact person for June right now. Let me know what you think.
