The Darlings Caved Already! A Sept. '12 PTR -- Sept. 26 - TR link posted!

Happy Canada day! (a bit late).

Hope you had a great day/weekend and enjoyed the partying! :goodvibes:

How did I not know about your PTR? Ah, well, I've found it now; and I'm caught up! A few random comments/observations:

How exciting to be among the first to stay in a Little Mermaid room!

Your photos are wonderful...you're great at capturing the feeling and not just the scene!

I totally agree with you about Snow White. It's a classic for sure, but she's a wimpy princess. Give me Belle, Ariel, or Rapunzel any day!

Your fur babies are adorable...I'm glad Sheeka is doing well after her surgery.

The Rest of Day 2

Hello folks! I hope all you Canadians had a great Canada Day weekend. And to my friends from the USA, I hope you're having a great Fourth of July today!

Continuing with the daily plans...

We left off on Day 2, Monday September 17. Just finishing some dinner at Yak & Yeti!

When we finish our dinner (roughly 7:00), the park will be closed. We'll take our time meandering out, taking pictures and checking everything out.

From there, the plan is to hop to DHS for some evening EMH!

They're open until 11pm so I hope to stay for the whole evening.

Knowing that we will be spending most of the next day at DHS, we are planning to get all the small time rides/attractions out of the way this evening. Rides like:

And I wouldn't mind meeting the Main Mouse while we're there:

I would consider it a great achievement to get a few of those done this evening, freeing up more time the next day for the big rides and any shows that we missed.

So after a long first day and a long second day, I'm sure we'll be heading back to the room to crash. Will I be a planning monster and get us up early for day 3?

Ninja post! Hahaha happens to me every time. Welcome aboard! Glad to have you!

Great plans. Love the pics! Did you take all those? I love that one at the start of GMR. I wonder how it turned out. :rotfl: I only edit the pictures when I need them for my TR so sometimes it takes me awhile to get to them.

Great plans! :goodvibes

Happy Belated Canada Day! We are have a hot 4th of July Here! I watched the Canada film again this trip and I love it so much. It totally made me want to plan a trip there.

Love your plans for day 2. I agree that getting all of the smaller (but still awesome) rides out of the way on the EMH night is a good strategy. It worked very well for us on our last trip.

Those plans look great! Hope you had a great Canada Day! I know what you mean about wishing the summer away....that happens when we have trips planned in Aug and then when we get home we are so bummed cause we know once Oct hits you never know what the weather will be like!

Great idea to get all the smaller stuff done on DHS night. Frees up more time the following day for the headliners! Hmm, sleeping in? Depends on what you'd consider getting up early. If DHS is supposed to open at 9 (or hopefully a few minutes early) then I think you should be able to sleep in at least a little.:confused3

Your DHS plans look great! :thumbsup2 I love that idea of getting the small rides out of the way so you can focus on the bigger ones the next morning! You're not going to ride Tower of Terror at night, though? That's the best time to go on! :cool1:

Your day 2 plans look great!
I loved looking at your road trip pics, such beautiful places!

Great end to your day 2! Love that you'll be taking advantage of DHS evening EMHs to get the small time rides/attractions done so you can hit the major ones the following day :thumbsup2

I did indeed take them all, although not necessarily all in the same trip! :rotfl:
You should definitely plan a trip to Canada! Particularly Cape Breton. I'll show you around! Your northern neighbours would be happy to have you :thumbsup2

It's a solid plan if it all works out right! lol, It should though. Then the next day it's all headliners and shows :thumbsup2

Happy belated Canada Day/4th of July!!

I think your DHS plans sound great!!! :thumbsup2
Hahaha same to you! Very belated by thins point! :rotfl:
Thanks!

Sounds like a great way to end Day 2 :thumbsup2
Thanks! I think so too :)

We had a good but quiet Canada day, we were busy around the house building a new deck! Haha it paid off though, I love sitting out on that deck now!
I always end up wishing the summer away, but I figure if I at least enjoy all that I can during the summer then it won't be so bad.

I never sleep in at the World, 7am is good for me, but Johnny likes to sleep a little later. I think it's do-able though!

Oh no no no, I will never ride ToT again! :rotfl: I rode it for the first time last year and I really hated it. Not only was I scared (which is the thrilling part, like the RnR blast off) I just plain wanted it to stop. I know, I know, I'm in a serious minority, but I hate the ride. I might consider walking through the queue at night if I was 100% guaranteed a chicken exit!

Thanks! I'm very lucky to be surrounded by some seriously beautiful scenery! :goodvibes

I hope it works out for the best, I always have such big plans and then I just get so tired that I can't do a lot of it!

Just wanna say I'm still here and trying to catch up... although I'm pretty sure I know all the important stuff!:wave2:

Hello again! It's been quite a while since I've updated. (15 days to be exact!) We are still having the hottest, driest summer I can ever remember and I'm spending my free time by the pool! :sunny:

Despite all the sunshine, I'm having a little bit of a depressing Disney day today.

You may remember that I had planned to do the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party on our first night in the World, September 16th. I had heard and read from many sources that you can book that 60 days ahead. I thought it would be like booking ADRs at 180 days and be a strict, set date... apparently I was wrong. :sad2:

Yesterday I logged onto my WDW reservations account and it said I was 60 days from my vacation! So I grabbed the phone (for some reason I couldn't find the Dessert Party on the online reservation system) and called to book the party. The CM told me there was no availability.

No availability!? :scared1:

"Oh... is that because it's full? Or because I'm calling too early?"

*CM typing and clicking*

"There are no reservations for that date yet, so you must be too early." he said.

I hung up and counted the days. Technically, if you count yesterday and the 16th of September, it's 61. Ok, I can live with that. I'll call tomorrow. :hourglass

So I got on with my day :laundy: :stir: :surfweb: :happytv: and didn't think anything else of it.

Today I woke up ready to try again. :cutie: I called and got an unfortunately unenthusiastic CM. Not very magical. I asked about September 16th and got the same answer. I asked why it was unavailable and she gave me some weird answer about how it's actually 30-60 days prior and that maybe I should try again later.

Weird. I am a strict control freak who likes to be given an exact date, and then stick to that date. You tell me I can book something at 60 days, and it's important to me, I'll be on the phone at 60 days, you know? This vague, wishy-washy answer was just not cutting it with me.

I'll try the Dis! They're sure to know everything!

:surfweb:

So I found the Wishes Dessert Party ADR Watch Thread and went back a few pages and learned that September was in fact open for reservations. ALL of September was open for reservations and several people had already booked the 16th as early as July 4th.

:furious:

The control freak in me exploded a little. How was I supposed to know that I needed to be checking every day!? Like I said, I thought it was strict like your normal ADRs, at 60 days prior, if you're online early enough, you can book no problem.

-Breath in. Breath out. Nice deep breaths. Control the control freak. -

Everyone on the Dis thread agreed that they were unable to call and get reservations -- the Disney CMs' system would not allow September yet -- but that the website was working. So I went to the website and finally figured out how to get the Party up and tried to book it there, September 16th, party of two. No luck.

I tried the 17th instead. If I have to re-work my entire schedule in order to get this party, I will.

No luck.

18th? No luck. 19th? Nope. 20th? 21st? 22nd? 23rd? :badpc:

All no.

So devastated. After planning it out perfectly, it looks like I'm already too late. Well, this isn't the end. I'm not going to give up. I'm going to keep trying the online reservation system every day. I'm going to call again once a week if I have to. I'm annoyed at myself for not checking the Dis sooner and taking this "60 days prior" at literal face value and not thinking to question it. I'll know better for next trip, but as of now I'm feeling a little blue that I can't book the party. :worried:

Oh No!

Is it possible, just possible, that you really can't book yet and the info you got here was wrong? I find it impossible to believe that every dessert party is booked. Seriously, its the middle of September. I can't believe that many people have booked the party already.

I hope someone else here as good advice for you as I have never actually attended the dessert party.

But I feel positive you'll get something. Did you try other dates to see if they worked (dates outside of your reservation dates)?

"Control the Control Freak" That would make an awesome TR title - just sayin! :rolleyes1

Yup. I said the same thing.

Is it possible, just possible, that you really can't book yet and the info you got here was wrong? I find it impossible to believe that every dessert party is booked. Seriously, its the middle of September. I can't believe that many people have booked the party already.

It's definitely possible. I read at least 3 different posts by people who had gotten a reservation for September 16th, various party sizes (a 2, 3 and 6 I believe). Obviously that doesn't add up to 50 which I hear is the limit... lol, so I can't imagine it filled up already for such a low season. But I still can't get it to work. :confused3

But I feel positive you'll get something. Did you try other dates to see if they worked (dates outside of your reservation dates)?

I hope your positive feelings are a premonition! I tried every date from August 26th until October 4th... no availability on any date. Another thing that makes me think there's something going on. I even logged out because I was starting to wonder if this was personal! :rotfl2:

"Control the Control Freak" That would make an awesome TR title - just sayin! :rolleyes1

Bahaha, oh my, it could be the title to my whole life too! I'll keep that one in mind. :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry about the dessert party, but hopefully there will be a cancellation; and you'll get in! I hate it when my meticulously detailed plans go awry, so I feel your pain.

"Control the control freak" made me laugh out loud, literally! In my case, however, I usually just let my control freak flag fly! :rotfl:
