The Darlings Caved Already! A Sept. '12 PTR -- Sept. 26 - TR link posted!

Great pics! OMG...makes me miss the ocean! Don't know if I've ever told you this but both my sister and I were born in Fredericton (my dad was stationed in Oromocto) and whenever I see pics from down east it reminds me of being a little girl! Thanks for sharing!

Awww, I don't think I knew that! You're an Atlantic girl too! I can understand missing the ocean. I got a video of it too, I should upload it so you can get the whole effect! Hahaha

Hi everyone! Happy hump day! I hope everyone's week is going well. We've had such gorgeous weather so far this spring and hardly any rain. Well, apparently we're going to make up for it this afternoon with thunderstorms and heavy rain! So it's a good day to stay in and Dis.

88 Days to go!! :cool1: It's seriously getting close! Just under three months!

Today I officially bought the first thing for my trip -- my deodorant! I was grocery shopping and saw my Disney Scent [story from last year's PTR] so I grabbed it while it was there. Now I keep smelling it and it reminds me of Pop Century. :lovestruc

My Disney to do list stands as such:

Any time
- Order new contact lenses.
- Find measurements of lockers at the parks & then find a tripod that will fit in them.
- Buy new sandals.
- Pay off trip [Johnny's been working crazy over time so we're hoping to pay everything off soon.]
-Hair Stuff [trim and hopefully some highlights. I haven't gotten new streaks since last year's trip so the top three inches of my hair is boring!]
- Finalize Itinerary

60 Days Prior
-Book the Wishes dessert party [EEEE! Can't wait!]

A few new things there and nothing scratched off. Oh well, we'll get it.

So I figured I'd share some more of our plans with you this afternoon.

Day 2
Monday, September 17

Animal Kingdom has morning EMH this morning so we're hoping to get enough sleep the previous night to allow us to get up and at 'em to be at AK for 8AM.

298185_10150327067477989_1452751205_n.jpg

Now like I mentioned earlier, I've decided not to plan out our time inside each park since we never follow those plans anyway. As long as we hit up each of our favourites, we're good. We are hoping to have AK completely finished this day so if all goes well, it will be our only trip here!

Some things we definitely need to see:

Dinosaur!

Kali River Rapids (to get cooled off!)
332_28701312988_794_n.jpg

Expedition Everest!

Festival of the Lion King (Hope to have my good camera with me for once, I'm so bad for leaving it behind because it's so heavy!)

The Safari,

And the walking trails

226912_5381817988_3570_n.jpg

That's our must-do list, so everything else beyond that is just gravy. We might decide to just ride EE over and over again too!

230952_5381847988_5746_n.jpg

Hey, speaking of AK, does anyone play the Disney's Animal Kingdom Explorers game on Facebook? It's kind of fun.

The park closes at 6, so to give us as much time in the park as possible, we got an ADR at Yak & Yeti for 5:45. It's my first time eating here and I'm super excited!

(Also since I've never been here, I have no pictures! These are all Googled.)

I'm already trying to figure out what to get here. I know I have to get the Wok-Fried Green Beans no matter what.

I'm thinking that the Crispy Honey Chicken from the Wok sounds pretty awesome too.

And for dessert? Well, when in Rome and all that jazz,
friedwontons.jpg

Stay tuned for the rest of Day 2!

A certain scent of deodorant for Disney is an awesome idea:thumbsup2 I can see how using it at home once in awhile would bring back good Disney memories.

Yak and Yeti looks sooooo good. I am thinking of adding it to our Dec. trip but I'm not sure yet. I really want to try those fried wontons or whatever they are for dessert.

Thanks for the photo tour of your island, It is absolutely beautiful and what a great way to spend the day.

I thought of you when I visited AoA last week. I just had to go check it out in person and I have to say that Denny was quite impressed. He kept repeating, over and over, "they really did a great job with this". I think you will love it.

Yak and Yeti is great, and a late ADR is a good idea. =) I liked the green beans when I was there, but others were less than impressed with them. The honey chicken is okay, but it is standard Chinese. I would choose something more adventurous.

Yes, Yes, Yes to the wontons!

And yes to riding EE as much as possible. On our last trip we rode it four times in a row. It was a walk on!

I love finding little Disney scents and other things like that in the "real" world!

I've never been to Y&Y either, but I've heard great things about it!

It surprises me how strongly the memories come back with a scent! I love it.
I'm excited for Yak & Yeti, Johnny is a little worried but I pointed out lots of things on the menu that I know he'll like. He's always nervous of new restaurants.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, my little island has lots of limitations but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Awww I'm so glad you guys went to see AoA! And Denny liked it! I'm so excited, everyone who sees it is impressed!

I'd have to really work myself up to something more adventurous! :rotfl: I'm such a picky eater that even the honey chicken is adventurous for me!
Oh I love when the coasters are a walk on. We did that with RnR two years ago, on and off, on and off, three times in a row, it was awesome and the CMs laughed at us every time we came back.

I love finding little Disney scents and other things like that in the "real" world!

I've never been to Y&Y either, but I've heard great things about it!
Me too, any little hints of Disney that catch you by surprise in every day life are so great!

Happy Saturday!

It's a cloudy day. We've had a few of those but no rain. It's been a really, really dry spring! DH is working overtime today and I'm home and bored so I'm catching up on my Dis!

First, a quick update on Sheeka.

(A quick recap: Sheeka is my dog who tore her knee in Feb., had surgery on March 23rd to repair it.)

Sheeka is doing marvelous! She's walking on all four legs again consistently. She runs on four legs too, almost always. It's very very rare that she picks up her injured leg and hops. She can jump a little and I take her for a short walk (although we're working our way longer and longer, up to 20 minutes now!) every day. She also swims! The vet said this is the best rehab for her knee and my girl LOVES to swim.

She had her two month check up at the end of May and her vet was very happy with her progress. :thumbsup2

In other news...

ClearlyContacts.ca had a great sale on this week, buy one box of contacts and get the second one free. So I took advantage and crossed something off my list!

Any time
- Order new contact lenses. (Check!)
- Find measurements of lockers at the parks & then find a tripod that will fit in them.
- Buy new sandals.
- Pay off trip
- Hair Stuff
- Finalize Itinerary
- Purchase necessary toiletries (Deodorant - check!)

60 Days Prior
-Book the Wishes dessert party

Although as I check things off I add more, that's ok. We still have 85 days to go!

Remember my Movie Challenge? I haven't updated since then, but I have watched quite a few firsts for me. I thought it would be fun to write reviews on some of them!

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Snow_White_and_the_Seven_Dwarfs.jpg

The one thing that I really noticed about Snow White was how incredibly different it was from the animated movies of today (particularly the Pixar ones.) Lots of silly songs and fun, but when you strip that away the bare bones of the story were fairly simple and without much real detail. I wanted to know more. Where is her father? Her biological mother? Who is this prince who falls in love with her? Where is he prince of? Is there no one to fight the step mother's decision to force Snow White to work as a maid? I couldn't help but think of the hours of Pixar commentary and special features I've watched and how they, "sand the undersides of the drawers" so to speak, and leave no detail untouched and no story unsaid. Every single thing in their movies helps to propel the story forward, not so in Snow White.

Ok, but putting all that aside and admitting that the movie is from 1937, it's a cute movie about a really weak princess character. :rotfl: :confused3 I am glad I watched it again but have to admit to being a fan of the newer animated movies more and more, and not for their technology, but for their superior story telling and depth of characters. Call me crazy, but I want more from my princess than a pretty singing voice and the title "Fairest in the Land"

I give it a 4/10.

So now that I have thoroughly disparaged a timeless classic, ( :lmao: ) I think I'll go watch another Wendy's Disney Movie First.

Toodle-oo!

I think one day for AK is completely feasible...heck half a day is enough to get all the major headliners out of the way! Going on EE over and over again is always fun, especially right around opening when it's walk-on. :thumbsup2

I played the AK game for a day or so, then stopped, maybe I'll try it again.:confused3

Glad to hear Sheeka is doing better!

Snow White is definitely lacking in details, and I haven't watched in years probably for that reason. But, I just look at it for what it was, a breakthrough during that time period. I suppose if I was watching it when it was first released, I'd be in total awe, but nowadays it's hard to compare it to the likes of Tangled and Up.

I am two updates behind:confused: Glad you are having great weather...we have been having horrid weather! The entire two weeks we were in WDW my dad said it rained every day! This is the first nice weekend we have had so we are heading to my bffs today for an afternoon of pool, cocktails and a bbq!!!

I laughed about your deodorant .... I always have to buy Pantene Classic shampoo and conditioner, that is our Disney essentials! When I go grocery shopping I usually grab it and just smell it and it takes me right back!

Sounds like a great day at AK....we usually only spend half to a full day there! We do what you do...get our favs out of the way and we are good to go!

Congrats on 84 more days to go! When I used to do late summer trips I felt like I was counting down all summer long.

So glad that your baby is recovering so well from her surgery. That's awesome.

I have downloaded all my pictures so if I can get some of the AoA edited I will post a few for you so you can get more excited. I was shocked that Denny was impressed as he was. He doesn't impress easily.

Movies have come a long way since 1937, haven't they?

I've been missing from the DIS for a couple of weeks... but I'm slowly getting caught up! I'm jealous you're in the double-digits... I cannot wait until my trip countdown reaches that milestone!

I'm so glad to hear that Sheeka is doing well!!! :goodvibes

Yeah, Snow White isn't really my favorite princess...and the movie definitely lacks in details. But it is fun to revisit the Disney classics!! :wizard:

Hey Wendy! :wave2:

I had a bit of a break but can't believe how close your trip is getting! 82 days!!! :woohoo:

Love the AK plans and am glad to hear Sheeka is doing great!

I'm all caught up! Not sure if I'd already mentioned it, but we'll defs both be in MK for those EMH that night! It's a great way to start a trip, hey? My AK plans are usually like that as well "start at EE, ride it as many times as possible, then check everything else out"

I just bought Snow White on VHS yesterday, and am probably going to watch it today, I find the older princess movies to definitely not be as good as the newer stuff, I was never really into them when I was younger, it was all about Lion King haha!!

Excited to read more!

I think one full day at AK will be more than enough. If halfway through the day we find it's rather too much, we can always head back to the pool for an hour! :thumbsup2
I didn't mean to trash a classic and you're absolutely right, it was a breakthrough for its time, but yes it's hard to love when you're a child of Pixar! :lmao:

I hope your weather improves! Ours is still wonderful. We had a single day of heavy rain and everyone forgot the past three or four weeks of sun and started complaining about the lousy spring. :confused3 No one has a good memory for weather around here it seems.
Awww see? Me with my deodorant, you with your Pantene! I'm so glad to know I'm not alone!
We usually spend the full day at AK but we do end up getting bored after a while. Although when I get like that I snap on a zoom lens and go walk the trails and get pictures of animals! :thumbsup2

I feel like I'm wishing away the whole summer... not a happy prospect when ours are so short to begin with! But at least I get to enjoy the time leading up to the trip, and when I get back its almost time to start looking forward to Christmas! (Well, for me anyway!)
Can't wait to see your AoA pictures! :goodvibes

Movies have certainly come a long way indeed, and I'm sure that in 75 years they'll be making fun of Pixar movies too! I guess I'm one of those who really likes to see progress.
You'll be getting into your double digits soon too!

I'm so glad to hear that Sheeka is doing well!!! :goodvibes

Thanks! :goodvibes
Snow White was never my favourite either, but it is fun to see the things Walt himself put his hands to. You have to respect the man for being ahead of his time, that's for sure!

Hey girl! Good to see you back around!
Yes indeed, we're certainly getting really close!
And thanks! :goodvibes

You'll be at MK the same night too? Cool! Perchance we can see about meeting up somewhere/time if you're up for it! Starting the trip with EMH at MK is pretty magical indeed! :wizard:
I was a huge Lion King fan too! And Aladdin, the first movie I can remember seeing in theatres. I loved it so much, especially the genie!

I had a simliar opinion of Snow White when I saw it before my trip last year (for the first time). Cute movie, but it was lacking...I gave it some slack though, because of its age .

Glad to hear about Sheeka! :thumbsup2

Can I just say, I can't wait to go back to the Yak'n'Yetti! I was not feeling well at all when I was there, but everything looked so good...I'm very glad I'll have another shot this time :)

Also, if I counted right...only 79 more days! :cheer2: :dance3: :woohoo: (I just realized that I've got 4 months to the day left to go! Woot!)

Ohhhh I hope you have a better time at Yak & Yeti this time! I hate when you're not feeling well in Disney, such a bummer!
