The final count down is on! Two weeks and we are going to be there for a whole nine days. We usually get in the 900 Loop, usually in site 932, at least the last four trip we were. I am sure we will be somewhere in the 900 loop again, as we will send request this Monday and next, might try a different site, 900 or 931. If you are in the Fort that week, come by and visit, we will have our awesome Mickey wooden sigh out front, Richard, Laura, and Taylor is carved in it, we will be in a Colorado fifth wheel and will have two carts we rented from Kenny at Tee Time. I will also be updating here some and on my Facebook page, Friends of Fort Wilderness, check it out for pictures and such. Hoping we have this nice cool weather we are having in Alabama this weekend while there, I know, but we can hope and pray for another cold front to come in. Look forward to a great and relaxing week, some park visits and one day working at Give Kids the World! It will be me, my wife, daughter, and three of her school friends. Come visit! Richard

Congrats Richard,

Wish I could come by but studying and work are in the way as usual. You guys have fun and looking forward to updates.

Great job on Give Kids the World, makes me want to shake an Auburn fan's hand. ;-)

Have a great time Richard.

Look for connor2002 over in 600 loop (IIRC) - sounds like ya'll will overlap some.

Thanks! I wished you could make it for a visit and hand shake, but I understand for sure. I am excited to take the girls there to work and see how blessed they are. Going to be a great time for sure.

Bama Ed, I sure will, like meeting fellow DISers and campers. Ed, which route do you take? I usually go 20 to Atlanta to 75, I think and then the turnpike. This is first time my wife is riding along, usually I go alone and she flies in. By the way, do you remember the number to fax in site request, I can't find it, I know I had it somewhere.

Thanks!
Richard

SD1,

Given where I am, we go down I65 to Montgomery, take Hwy 231 (4 lane with red lights in the cities) down through Dothan into Florida, pick up I10 south of Dothan.

Given where you are starting east of the 'Ham, going over to Hot'Lanta is your natural best bet, then roll with traffic down I75 South to Valdosta and the FL line.

I tried the Atlanta route (a few more miles but all interstate) but it's not for me. Travel safely and arrive alive.

Thanks for donating a day to GKTW. You're a good man!

Bama Ed

PS - the loop request can be put in on MDE on the "Early Checkin" selection or just call the ressie line and add it.

Thanks Ed! SD1, gives me a Star Wars sounding name, pretty cool being we will be there during Star Wars weekend. I think I will go my normal route, interstate is good with the fifth wheel.

I have to say, GKTW is going to be great but, I would have never really knew about them had it not been for the DIS boards and podcast. I will be sure to report on the trip and our work day. I am just praying for some of this cooler weather there in two weeks like we are having here now.

Richard

Wahoo see you boys there...5 night/6 day for me and I am usually just a weekender!

I'll be in loop 800, which is where we usually are though some day I might request one or two sites in the 900 loop that back up to the 800 with the little canal.

When we are out and about looping around, I will make sure to come by and see if you are around! I am hoping to be in the 900, will let you all know the site number when we find out!

Richard

We are here and set up, the relaxing begins!! We are in site 901 if anyone is out in about. Two carts from Kenny are here for many nights of looping and the awesome wooden sign hanging on the hitch of the fifth wheel. Mickey head string of lights hanging and my green Mickey head lit up hanging in the tree! Weather is very nice, right now at least, and 4:30 readies for Trails End and the a pontoon rented to watch the fire works on the water!

Richard

Well, it's been a good day! We just got back from a pontoon ride to watch the fireworks, this is a must do, if you haven't done it. Just kicked back and enjoyed the Fort. My mom, sister, my niece, her husband and kids came. We will be cookout tomorrow and some friends are coming, some of which you might know if you watch the podcast, Kathy and Teresa, plus who knows who else.

On the bad side,, one of our toilets pedals broke on the inside, leaked some but, I was there and stopped it before got to bad, now a quick run to Camping World for a new base, change it out and then cook out. At least it wasn't worst and this is the second one we replaced in the last month, the one in the back bathroom went bad, I don't think Dandy RV winterized it like they said and with the harsh winter it froze. Oh well, we will won't use them again for anything as that is not all they didn't do or messed up.

Going to be a great day and hope to visit anyone else who comes by.

Please tell Ter-RAY-za (the way Pete pronounces her name sometimes on the podcast) that I would listen to her read the dictionary. She has a great voice (and that's all I mean for the record - just sayin'. Nothing else).

Name dropper. :rolleyes1

Ed, told her! We had a good time. Food cooked and then the rain came, but fun was had and we took Teresa and Kathy looping, they had never looped before.

Richard

Congrats! I was just in site 928 and really loved it. However, for a 5th wheel and dually pick up I found most of the sites in the 900 loop shorter or tighter than the outside loop sites of 800. Maybe I am just weird? But, I'll be asking to head back to my 800 loop again (unless I can get that one particular 928 site) LOL! Fat chance, I am sure.

Have fun...you'll be here before you know it!
