I went to the library today and got a Christmas book: Scared of Santa, Tales of Terror in Toyland. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
It's pictures of little kids who are sitting on Santa's lap crying.

We subscribe to Fusion (Glenn Beck's magazine) and it is always good for entertainment. Sadly, most of his satire is pretty well-rooted in truth.

I finished reading his book too- The Christmas Sweater. Excellent read, but be prepared with tissues. I am so disappointed we can't see the stage show, but I am going to his book signing when he is here in December.

Back to la la land for me. I'm in need of sleep and Jacob is snoozing peacefully for (hopefully) at least another hour.

oh...and I forgot to mention that any of you guys who like Stephen King--did you hear what he had to say about our military last week? utterly pathetic. The guy is a waste of space:

Horror novelist Stephen King talking to High School students had this to say about literacy:

"The fact is if you can read, you can walk into a job later on. If you don't, then you've got, the Army, Iraq, I don't know, something like that. It's not as bright."

Majority of our military have more education than he does, and you must know how to read to enlist, so I'd sure love to know where he gets this idea that our military is full of stupid, illiterate people who can't have any future anywhere else.:sad2:

I never bought any of his books, and I never will after hearing that.

loco, that is true about Jesse's MO. Unfortunately rather than telling him to hit the road, the then-GM was stupid enough to take a meeting with them. Then they just turned around and said it wasn't intentional, but that the Braves needed to do a better job on scouting Atlanta-area students. It's like talking to a someone with the IQ of a kumquat. They can't even do basic research before they start talking. Aside from the trades that had no relevance to their claims, the Braves already do a ton of their scouting at high schools in the Atlanta area. The fact is black students are more likely to be interested in basketball or football than baseball. This is a national issue, not a Braves issue. And outreach programs have been started to try and get more African American kids interested in baseball. But yet the Braves were the only ones to get called out. Bologna. But anyway. (I'm even more passionate about baseball than I am about politics :rotfl: )

Just found this thread - so happy to join my fellow conservative DIS'ers!

Hi, and welcome! Looking forward to chatting with you! :wizard:

Prop 8 in CA passed because of black voters 70-30. I think they forget that most blacks go to church and believe deeply in Jesus Christ.
Wonder if they're going to start calling them bigoted, hateful, intolerant, stupid...all the names we've been called for the past how many years?

:scared1:

But it's okay to go after the Mormon church for their support of Prop 8. Ah, hypocrisy. :sad2:

Welcome!!

Okay, so far I've filed 2 years of office paperwork (yay!) and cleaned out the pantry (yay!). DH has painted the ceilings of two rooms (yay!)

Still have a ton of work to do, but I think I may call it a night. The Barbie bomb has been cleaned up a bit but the Legos are still a disaster. :)

Have a good night everyone!

Sounds like you're a busy beaver! Try to take some time to relax tomorrow!

I'd also like to know what he looks like. :lmao:
I'm reading "Godless" right now. Excellent book. :3dglasses

Wow. I knew he was kind of a jerk but geez. Sounds like Mr. Frenchie Frankenstein Kerry.

In other words, he's saying only stupid people go into the military. What a *******!

A lot of people I know in the military (and have been since they were straight out of high schoo)l are a heck of a lot smarter than some people I know with college degrees! As far as I'm concerned, he can get a life. Maybe he can buy a clue with his book profits.

Stephen King reminds me of Michael Moore only King is uglier and nerdier.

I KNOW, I can't believe what I read over there. They have had YEARS of name calling on Bush and so, so many hateful things to say about him. And they just don't see their own intolerance.

Speaking of President Bush, I heard Glen Beck talking about the meeting that he had with the president last year at the White House. He was allowed to talk about his "impression" but no notes, tapes, no quotes about exactly what was said. His concern was that the president wasn't doing enough to defend himself. Well a year has gone by and the NYT broke the story of various special ops forays into various countries, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, etc that we have been engaged in since the beginning of the war on terror. Beck said, "now that the story is out, I can comment on it." He wouldn't repeat the numbers, but he said that the numbers of Al Qaeda that we have killed are STAGGERING. He also said that President Bush shared information with them that could have vindicated him off all of the reckless charges that the left has made, but he (Bush) feels that for whatever reason, it isn't the time. He feels that the country is of prime importance and he is willing to be hated because we came 'that close to anialation" He feels that history will ultimately treat him kindly. Did anyone else here that?

OH! That makes me so angry.

I wonder if Mr. Stephen King could handle the military. I think he would cry within the first week. I agree he is a Jack and I will no longer buy his books or read them at the library.

hadn't heard that, but it's good to know. it takes a very big man to take that position.

i'm still a little baffled by those who seem to believe that gwb woke up one saturday, said to himself, "self...we're bored. let's start a war", as though congress and nato didn't participate in the decision to go into iraq. i'm also baffled by those who insist we haven't done ANYTHING to eliminate al qaeda (and hammas, etc....it IS the war on terrorism, after all). it takes time...and...straTEEgery.

i understand O has been saying he's gonna end the war responsibly after turning control over to the iraqis. hmmmm....gee....what a concept....ya mean it ISN'T okay to just get the heck outta dodge and let them flouder? wonder if the you-know-whos realize that means "we're not gonna be out immediately, even though i made it sound that way."

whatev....

I don't think that O will want to "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory". To be the president that presided over the loss of Iraq would be a legacy indeed. I am also guessing that a lot of the protective policies that are contained in the Patriot Act will somehow continue, because after he is privy to all of the daily intelligence briefings that President has been dealing with, he will see that there is no choice but to act responsibly so we are protected. Somehow, I am guessing that those on the far left will 'understand' because its obama.

good point...if the one says this is how ya do it, then it will be believed.

a colleage at work, voting for the first time after coming to the u.s. 8 years ago (sorry, but i really think there should be a one decade wait, plus the requirement to pass history and government courses prior to voting), sat ON my desk and spewed forth spiders and snakes she had clearly heard on npr. "why, why, why....bush, bush, bush...why, why, why...." when said colleage finally took a breath, i told her it is absolutely impossible for a candidate to make promises about the war or most anything else until AFTER they are elected and go through the debriefings and obtain all the classified information on the matter. just can't do it. she thought that was ridiculous and truly believes that the whole world is aware of all details, there is nothing secret, and nothing we all don't know.

again, i suggested she read a history book written prior to 1985 and get back to me.

I didn't hear that, but if it is true, he is a man to admire and one that would be hard to find. I also think history will treat him kindly.

I know the military is doing a wonderful job defeating Al-Qaeda. I just wish other people would realize it.
