Speaking of President Bush, I heard Glen Beck talking about the meeting that he had with the president last year at the White House. He was allowed to talk about his "impression" but no notes, tapes, no quotes about exactly what was said. His concern was that the president wasn't doing enough to defend himself. Well a year has gone by and the NYT broke the story of various special ops forays into various countries, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, etc that we have been engaged in since the beginning of the war on terror. Beck said, "now that the story is out, I can comment on it." He wouldn't repeat the numbers, but he said that the numbers of Al Qaeda that we have killed are STAGGERING. He also said that President Bush shared information with them that could have vindicated him off all of the reckless charges that the left has made, but he (Bush) feels that for whatever reason, it isn't the time. He feels that the country is of prime importance and he is willing to be hated because we came 'that close to anialation" He feels that history will ultimately treat him kindly. Did anyone else here that?

I hadn't read that before. Wow. I do hope that one day more people will appreciate what Bush did for us and what he had to endure.

Interesting reading about another one of H's appointees - Valerie Jarrett: [from the Chicagoans at Hillbuzz]

It looks like there’s now a 95% chance Obama’s Senate seat will be filled by Jesse Jackson Jr. — we thought he’d push for Valerie Jarrett to take his seat when Illinois Governor Blagojevich fills the vacancy next year (or, more honestly, that Michelle would push for Jarrett to take Obama’s Senate seat, since Jarrett and Michelle are close friends, and that’s how Michelle rolls). But, Jarrett was announced for a White House job as advisor to Obama today, which means Jackson is most likely to get the Senate seat. This serves Chicago Mayor Daley’s purposes, as Daley wants Jesse Jackson Jr. out of Chicago so he won’t challenge “Da Mayor” in the next Mayor’s race.

Jarrett is another Chicago figure tied heavily to Tony Rezko, amongst other questionable dealings through the years. She’s also a firm supporter of Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics — and will likely use her new White House perch to close that deal for the city. It was between Chicago and Rio for the Olympics, and all signs seem to point to Chicago walking away with this prize now that Obama’s won the White House.

It’s going to be interesting to see all the quid pro quo that will emerge in the next few months as various positions are filled in the new administration. We’re also keeping our eye on what happens to Bill Daley, the Mayor’s brother. If he takes a high profile Obama Cabinet or other government job, that means Daley won’t be running for Governor in 2010, which means Blagojevich will indeed seek another term.

That’s profoundly interesting because currently it appears Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is getting closer and closer to indicting Governor Blagojevich on various corruption charges, using Obama’s friend (and convicted felon) Tony Rezko to gain more and more information for the indictment. With Obama headed to the White House (and full presidential pardon powers), that indictment may never happen now.
Either Obama could pardon Rezko and make him a free man (which the press wouldn’t bother to report on, no doubt), or he could have Fitzgerald reassigned and the investigations into Illinois corruption shut down (another thing the press would not bother to report on).

The Daley family has been watching Fitzgerald closely, and they want Bill Daley to be Governor, so if they believe Blagojevich will be indicted, Bill Daley will forgoe appointment to a high position by Obama in favor of a run for the Governor’s mansion in 2010. If the Daleys believe Obama will either pardon Rezko or otherwise close down Fitzgerald’s investigation come January, then Bill Daley will accept an Obama appointment because Blagojevich will be able to run for re-election and the Daleys won’t challenge him.

Valerie Jarrett is as involved with Tony Rezko as anyone else in Chicago…and she’s headed to Washington now, along with Rahm Emmanuel, another practitioner of questionable tactics who Obama’s tapped to be his Chief of Staff.

This Administration’s shaping up to give President Grant’s a run for its money as the most corrupt in American history — if old Chicago patterns all hold, and more friends of Tony Rezko end up in our government.

VIA CNN Political Ticker:

A longtime friend of Barack and Michelle Obama has officially been named a senior advisor to the incoming president.

President-elect Obama, in a statement released Saturday morning by his transition staff, announced that Valerie Jarrett will serve as Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Liaison. CNN Contributor Roland Martin reported the offer to Jarrett on Friday evening.

Jarrett is currently co-chair of Obama’s transition team and was senior adviser for his presidential campaign. She became the president and CEO of The Habitat Company on January 31, 2007, and was also the company’s vice president. The Habitat Company develops and manages residential apartments and condominiums.

Before joining The Habitat Company, Jarrett served for eight years in government for the city of Chicago; first as deputy corporation counsel for finance and development, then as deputy chief of staff for Mayor Richard M. Daley and finally as commissioner of the Department of Planning and Development.

Jarrett met Barack Obama when she hired his wife Michelle for a job in the Chicago mayor’s office years ago and has be very close to the two of them ever since.

Here’s more on Valerie Jarrett’s real estate scandals with Tony Rezko - h/t StoptheACLU

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained documents linking Valerie Jarrett, an advisor to Barack Obama and the co-chairman of the President-Elect’s transition team, to a series of real estate scandals, including several housing projects operated by convicted felon and Obama fundraiser/friend Antoin “Tony” Rezko.

According to the documents obtained by Judicial Watch from the Illinois Secretary of State, Valerie Jarrett served as a board member for several organizations that provided funding and support for Chicago housing projects operated by real estate developers and Obama financial backers Rezko and Allison Davis. (Davis is also Obama’s former boss.) Jarrett was a member of the Board of Directors for the Woodlawn Preservation and Investment Corporation along with several Davis and Rezko associates, as well as the Fund for Community Redevelopment and Revitalization, an organization that worked with Rezko and Davis.

(According to press reports, housing projects operated by Davis and Rezko have been substandard and beset with code violations. The Chicago Sun Times reported that one Rezko-managed housing project was “riddled with problems — including squalid living conditions…lack of heat, squatters and drug dealers.”)

As Chief Executive Officer of the Habitat Company Jarrett also managed a controversial housing project located in Obama’s former state senate district called Grove Parc Plaza. According to the Boston Globe the housing complex was considered “uninhabitable by unfixed problems, such as collapsed roofs and fire damage.

How cool is that!!! And doing this for your ex-DIL, pretty impressive I must say....you really need to stop it, you'll ruin your reputation as a selfish, mean-spirited conservative...;)

I hope you get to tell her this story - it's as if Someone Else was wanting to encourage her, too.
I love her. She's the mother of my two (three since I count her and her husband's child) granddaughters. She and my son were very young and tried really hard. We try to be one, big, happy family.:thumbsup2

I don't care if I "ruin" my rep.:rotfl2: I feel really good right now. I smiled all the home. :goodvibes

I've got to run, but remember the other day at the RGA conference in Miami how an "unnamed governor considering a 2012 run" was trashing Sarah? I was very suspicious at the time that it was Governor Pawlenty, McCain's would-be running mate. It looks like I was right. So not only does he have the personality of a house plant IMO, he's a brat too and seemingly not a conservative. Read this:

"The “Republican governor eyeing a presidential run in 2012” appears to be Minnesota’s Tim Pawlenty. Pawlenty used his time at yesterday’s roundtable discussion to cast himself as the “modern” Republican while casting aspersions on the traditional conservative message, calling for outreach to the “new demographics,” deriding the GOP for allegedly being 15 years behind in the use of the Internet, and calling for the party not to be led by “a crank.” Pawlenty appears to have John McCain’s penchant for attacking conservatives rather than those in the other party.

Pawlenty in Miami was publicly angry, agitated, and even cranky, possibly because he found himself at odds with the far more conservative tone of every other speaker here. Hundreds of RGA members, who paid thousands of dollars to attend this Conference, wildly applauded “red meat” conservative pronouncements by speakers and not the more moderate and conservative-jabbing words by Pawlenty. And then there’s his “Palin problem,” real or imagined, that hit the fan yesterday in front of the national media, possibly upon the insistence of Pawlenty himself, as the above-reported comments to CNN by an anonymous presidential aspirant indicate."

I agree about needing to use the internet better, but I'm really beginning to believe my suspicions that I have long held about this guy were correct.
That is very interesting. I watched an interview of Pawlenty when he was at the RGA, and got the impression that he was sorta, I don't know- irritated? I couldn't figure out why at the time, but after reading that article it sure makes a lot of sense.

Prop 8 in CA passed because of black voters 70-30. I think they forget that most blacks go to church and believe deeply in Jesus Christ.
Wonder if they're going to start calling them bigoted, hateful, intolerant, stupid...all the names we've been called for the past how many years?

I know the ever tactful Roseanne Barr did -- [this was after she railed against evangelicals, Mormons and Jews]

Wonderlanne- That bites about your siggy getting taken away. It's not like you can prove that it was Obama. I mean his face was covered. ;) He he.

It looks like he is starting to bring people that were 'just in the neighborhood' with him to Washington. I wonder who else he is going to appoint? pathetic. :sad2:

I had not heard that, but I believe it. I have been laughed at more than I can say for saying that George W Bush will be remembered by history as one of the greats. The men who serve during hard times, the ones who make the tough calls, are always so harshly judged. They are always unpopular in their own time. Once history has time to put his presidnecy in perspective, he will be remembered well. I know it.

I've heard this before, but never saw it in print which was a citable source. I've always believed it to be true, though!

I bow down to you! I was trying to come up with some good stanzas, incorporating just those people, but a picture is worth a thousand words, eh?

Fellow Business Executives:

As the CFO of this business that employees 140 people, I have resigned
myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Clients will have to
see an increase in our fees to them of about 8% but since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of our
economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has
really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who will have to go.

So, this is what I did. I strolled thru our parking lot and found 8 Obama
bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way to approach
this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them.

If you have a better idea, let me know.

Sincerely,

BOB

God forbid you would ever take a pay cut or give backs the same as you would have your employees do.

And just out of curiosity, aren't you a financial planner? You sure spend a lot of time here on the DIS. Maybe you could spend more time figuring out how to get through these tough economic times that your current president has overseen rather than blaming the man who will have to get us out of it.

Just a thought.

xxxxxxxxxxx

Why should a person have to take a pay cut???
And I thimk the previous post was a spam email
I got it form 2 different people.
and what about you?
What are you doing to help either administration with the econmy??
Just becase a person has a JOB(note that JOB is a 3 letter word)
That the job is their whole life. We have break times at work and free time at home.

I went to the library today and got a Christmas book: Scared of Santa, Tales of Terror in Toyland. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
It's pictures of little kids who are sitting on Santa's lap crying.
