I have the opposite problem with DS8. I have to talk him into trying new things. And we're talking things he's either expressed interest in, or things I know he'd love!

He begged to play football last spring, so we signed him up. DH coached, and he had a great season... except that the last moment of the last game he fumbled the ball.

Me: Honey, what do you want to do this fall?
DS: Nothing.
Me: You usually do soccer. Do you want to do soccer?
DS: No.
Me: Why not?
DS: I just don't want to.
Me: OK. Well, it looks like the parks dept. has a basketball program in the fall. You usually play in the winter, but you could play in the fall, too, if you want.
DS: No.
Me: What about football?
DS: No.
Me: Why?
DS: Because I dropped the ball. I didn't like that.
Me: Everybody drops the ball, sweetheart! You had so much fun the rest of the season.
DS: No, I don't want to play anymore.
Me: Fine, but you're doing something. Swimming? Gymnastics? You loved both of those this summer, and you are really good at them.
DS: Fine, I'll do swim classes.
Me: And what about gymnastics? I'm going to sign your brother up for gymnastics, do you want to do the trampoline class again?
DS: No! No gymnastics.

oh, I forgot to mention...you know the jobs I served up for DS2 to earn some extra cash????? he is going to be ticked...DS1 is working on them now

Man am I glad that I am not going to be home later...that way I don't have to hear it....

Uhhhh-ohhhhhh...

Fortunately for him, I bet you have all kinds of other things he could do!

The family activities I can handle and actually enjoy. I know you all think we do too much but it works for our family and I wouldnt trade that for a second. Gee I sound like I'm talking to my MIL now!

its the extra crap that I hate. Like garage sales. Why cant I just go to goodwill and drop it off. Or better yet call and have someone pick it up and get a tax write off. And dont tell me 3 days before the garage sale that we are having one!!!!

He thinks we will be rich off of every freaking garage sale because we are selling his precious chair. Gee, that will bring $5.00 MAYBE. I think I'll call someone.

Another example of how I take on different things other than the usual. Before our 2 week vacation back to the midwest 2 years ago my mom asked me to paint her house. It was just a few days out. I said "you mean paint it after I get back right?" I mean I was getting my family ready to be gone for 18 days thats no small feat. She said "nope I would really like it painted before you go so I can have a party" I'm just too nice to have her call a painter so I suffered through and painted that damned house and finished up the day before we took off.

Actually now I sound bitter. I really am not. I love helping my mom and my friends I just had a bad day yesterday.

I'm just so annoyed with him right now! I mean honestly, did he think I would be happy when he said earlier THIS week. "Honey, I think we should have a garage sale this weekend"

We are planning a community garage sale in 2 weeks. So that makes me even more puzzled. I realize this weekend is kinda nice because Jake doesnt have a football game this saturday but we had this scheduled for 2 weeks and there will be lots of traffic then. Actuallly I'm thinking of opting out of that one as its still over 100 and I think we can get more traffic in Nov. I have 1 box of stuff in the attic that I have collected otherwise I dont know what he wants me to put out.

tell him, I think YOU having a yardsale is a great idea.....DH likes to pull that crap on me...and did in june...we had the signs up,,,,I worked like a dog and he walked off to leave me doing it.....I closed the garage, took down the signs and went to swim at my friends....he came home and was like what happened...I told him well when you left I figured it was every man for himself...

dh holds on to underwear that have seen its day...I rip the band off so he can't, dh had box of old clothes from yester years...I "accidently" knocked over small bottle of oil sometime....(i squirt them)

so it comes to now after the entire summer, im quitting. So no more looking for Albort at work. Ill be safe for awhile!

We haven't ever had a garage sale. DH is very big on "just get rid of it" once we've gone to the effort of collecting everything. We just take it to the local Goodwill collection site and it's done.

If we want to get rid of anything of real value, we offer it first to family or friends. Usually someone will take it off our hands; otherwise it goes to Goodwill, too.

We are taking Jake to a high school freshman football game tonight. He likes watching high school ball but was really watching the crowd at the friday night varsity games. This should be fun tonight.

yeah, but the fallout between me and someone else is putting a lot of drama among us and co workers. Ive decided to quit while i can as i have the financial backup that the other person doesn't have and focus on school.

Garage sales are actually kinda fun after the prep work is done. I love hearing the people comment on my trash. Some LOVE it and others totally judge you on what you have out. I do the same I wont lie! Anyway, its funny. They will see something for 10 cents and want to talk you down to 8 cents. That cracks me up. I have a no pennies rule at garage sales so its a nickel or a dime.

They are just a PAIN to get ready for and I dont want to do it now so I'm throwing a garage sale tantrum!!!

i tried putting one in yesterday but my co workers took my paper and completely destroyed it. I told them give me one reason to stay and i might stay. So far, i had a long talk with my mom and she told me shes happy i am quitting and concentrating on school.

yea, we all comment on all of the treasures put out at a yard sale but its fun...I had someone come up once wanting to buy a knock off purse that was new for 2.00....I had 8 on it...she was nasty...I told her nope she put it down...this sweet little girl wanted it and only had a dollar...I gave it to her...while that sea hag watched it...
