"To all who come to this happy place... Welcome!"- Walt Disney :smickey:

Hello Hyenas,

Welcome to our new home! :yay: :cheer2:

Thanks, pixster. :)

Sorry it took me so long to get here, I got distracted by your beautiful photos... :goodvibes

Hmmm... DH just called, and he does need to come back home a day early. :sad2:

So we'll see him late tomorrow. The boys will be thrilled. DS8 especially misses his Daddy; so I will have two happy boys on my hands! :rotfl:

I think I'm going to go find something for lunch.

Dizzy I'm so happy for your family and Alec!!

Also happy to hear about the little girl. I hope and pray she continues to respond like she has been.

Gina, I'm clueless about your DH, but what ever happened I'm glad things turned out good. My 2 sons were exactly the same way. The first a slob, and the second one a neat freak! But there could be hope. After getting married, the first one has gotten more picky! Who would have figured?? Now he comes in and preaches to me about Kaitlyn's bathroom. What?? Are you kidding me? Helllloooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
OUT!!!

Alex, how is DS8's teacher thing going?

Megan, when did you get into an accident?????

Pix, I like your welcome to our new site. And thanks for PMing me!

Have you guys tried the "unbaked tortillas" from Costco yet?? Yummy! Yummy! I bet they are similar to Megan's home made ones. They taste so fresh, and are so moist. I just gobbled up a quesadilla made from them! :thumbsup2

Are they worth the 3 hour drive to get them??? :confused3

Well probably not. But if you guys do make once in awhile trips, look them up.

Also look at their really cute Disney hoodies and matching tees. They are so cute, and only cost 16.00 dollars for the set. I wish I had a little girl to buy one for.

Ooooooh, I definitely see a Costco run in my near future :cool1:

Gina.. glad things worked out .. and I thought the whole "going to staple his lip" discussion and asking for sibling talk with Alex was hilarious

Dizzy: Sending happy thoughts your way for the little girl, young children are incredibly resilient when it comes to brain injuries. I hope her healing continues.

and WOOHOO for the intensive speech therapy!! It's nice not having to fight with a school district , sounds like you have some excellnet and caring staff on your side.. and that's a big part of the battle :cutie:

There are some really GOOD computer programs out there to help with language developmnet. My sister used one called Fast Forward.. very pricey but it made a huge difference for her son. They used it everyday in the summer... however for him it was to acquire language.. not use of language. Does that make sense?? Anyway, ask and look around on speech therapy product sites .. every little bit helps.. but you knew that already :goodvibes

Staley: Bummer about the car accident.. Hope things are okay. I swear new cars (even new to you, but not new) are a giant magnet for dings, bumps, and scrapes. Someone backed into our car in the first week we had it.. no harm done. And then a shopping cart got carried by the wind and smashed into the side a week later BONK causing a small dent :headache:

And yep, uterus is amazingly cushy and that is why we have all that amniotic fluid .. to protect the little ones. But for piece of mind.. be the neurotic preggie lady and call the office when in doubt. :thumbsup2
Something to consider for the worries and just for fun.. buy a fetal heart tone/doppler.. not the crappy one with the ear phones.. it doesn't work.. but a real one.. they even sell one on Amazon that is not extremely expensive and reviews say it works!

Or you can rent one.

Thanks for the compliments on my photos. :grouphug: I will add more photos (I can only upload 1 photo a day due to their policy).

My bf just messaged me and said that he was riding his bike to work and then he said a wasp stung him on the neck. He said it felt as if he was hit by a rock! :scared1: I told him to get an ice pack and keep it on for 15 minutes to help reduce swelling (he has a red bump from the sting). I also asked him to check to make sure the stinger was not still in his skin and informed him that any antihistamine would help as well. :guilty:

Megan, when did you get into an accident?????

On Friday... It was no big deal, just a fender bender. they were just going to have me come in on my next appt. to be checked out, but seeing as how it is twins, and a little more high risk, they wanted to check me out. Make sure the placentas were okay and such. Which they were.

Babies were fine, One is a little smaller then the other, but both are growing well. So no need to worry about it yet. Not that I wont... Cause I am worrying about it. but they each have their own placenta, which means less of a chance of them sharing blood and nutrients and such... Which is awesome. The doctor said she would just ultrasound them at each appt, just to make sure we were all doing well.

She also said...
No exercise. AT ALL. Basic walking around the house and store, no more.
Eat ONLY healthy proteins and veggies and fruits.. almost NO CARBS. :sad1:
NO SWEETS. AT ALL. I am a supremely high risk for GD. Being a big fat butt, and twins have a 50% higher chance of GD. So I will have to be really careful.
Monitor my blood pressure at home. Again... Twins have a MUCH higher chance of blood pressure problems.

Anyhow.. I was there for a quick check up and it turned into about 40 minutes. It was lovely... We also discussed delivery. I KNOW we are a long way off, but she was talking about pre term labor and such. Full term for twins is 36 weeks. I told her how much I want to try for a vag. delivery, and she said as long as baby A is head down, that is how we will roll. She also said that it is easier to deliver vag. if baby A is head down, and baby B is breech... So she can just reach up and pull the baby out by the leg... That kinda made me...:scared1: :scared1: and :rotfl2: all at the same time.

I know that I am just rambling on and on about this... But DANG. I am getting so excited! Everytime I see those little buggers... I just get all weepy! The one is always bouncing around... The other one is always just floating there chillin... Its the smaller one that is always moving, and the bigger one is always just chilling... Their size is only off by a few days, so that is why she said not to worry..

(I was kidding! Just in case anyone ever takes me seriously...) :rotfl2:

I am not surprised about the risk of GD. She is basically putting you on the diet for GD in hopes that you DON'T get it, which is great. (Not that if you DO get it it's terrible; I had it and we both did just fine.)

As for the BP problems, you definitely DO NOT want to go there! Take that part very seriously. One of my GF had blood pressure problems with her little one. She had a very hard time controlling her BP with the low-dose meds they allow during PG, and she didn't like the side effects. She wound up hospitalized at around 29 weeks, I think, and it was very scary. She was on drugs that made her really shaky and loopy, and it seems the baby checks every hour or two they were making a call whether to take her right then or not. She wound up going until 31 weeks, but OMG was that little girl tiny! I was so afraid for her!

But she was a fighter, did very well, came home earlier than expected, and by her size and cognitive development today, you'd never know she's a preemie! She's very tall, and smart as a whip, at the top of her class! :thumbsup2

So take the diet and BP seriously, they will make your high risk PG less risky.

Oh, and I got a NEW scrip for nausea. Back on the reglan I go. The phenergan, or whatever it is just isnt working. All it does is make me sleepy.

GREAT!!! Now that I've finished catching up, it's almost time to go home!

Dizzy-so glad to hear that the little girl is doing well.

Pix-the next new Hyena Thread needs to say "Financial Spreadsheet-Hyena Thread", that way my boss doesn't see "Chatty" at the bottom of my screen when I quickly minimize it when he walks by.:thumbsup2

Staley-glad everything is ok with the babes.

Shawna-thanks for marking the territory. Apparently I'm attracted to Yellow Stuff also!:lmao:

Alex, how is DS8's teacher thing going?
It's going very well, thank you for asking. :goodvibes

She is a bit strict, which I would think anyone trying to run a split class would have to be. But she's NOT strict about odd things, which is what I was hearing. Everything I heard that I raised with her she wound up having a good explanation for, or it turned out it wasn't true.

For instance, one of the things was that she did not allow cupcakes to be brought in for a child's birthday. Supposedly she did not like "the mess" of cake and frosting on little hands and desktops, since they cause extra clean-up.

I asked, "Sooooo... I hear you're not a fan of cupcakes, but that sugar cookies ~" and she said, "Cupcakes? I love cupcakes!" I started to babble and she said, "No, seriously! I'd LOVE IT if you brought in cupcakes! And the kids love that sort of thing!" Yeah. That's kinda why I like to bring them! :lmao:

We actually discussed far more important issues to me than cupcakes  as well, such as DS' health issues, color blindness, DS' inattentiveness when around one classmate who is (according to DS) "hilarious!"

What I loved was that she was so open about everything, she didn't treat me like an overbearing parent (which I don't think I am, but I may have come across this way... way to make a first impression!) In short, she laid to rest all my concerns, and I walked out of my meeting with her excited about the coming school year. I hadn't expected that, to be honest.

I am so glad I spoke with her, and I feel a bit sheepish about having believed some of the things I was told. Some were exaggerations, some were true but the reasons for them were false, and some things were just out and out false.
