The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

To all you Broadway die-hard fans...what would you recommend?

In the Heights and Next to Normal are both coming to our local theater on touring companies next year/season. I can't decide which I want to see more!

In The Heights is excellent. I haven't yet seen Next to Normal, but I've heard good things about it as well.

I am so behind on my Broadway! So this is what kids do to you! :rotfl2: I would not see Harry Potter in How to Succeed. Though I will look for clips on youtube to see if he is as bad as I think he will be. Mary Poppins is coming near me, but alas I can't afford to go. Oh well!

We didn't start really going to shows until the last of my kids was in high school. It's hard when they are young, what with babysitters and the time it takes to get in and out of the city.

I'm beside myself with excitement. :cheer2:

We are going to see American Idiot for the 4th time on Sunday and Billie Joe Armstrong is going to be there in person for a Q&A after the show. I think I might faint :worship: :worship:

He's actually supposed to be terrific. They did a reading last year and he got raves for his performance then. He got great reviews in both London and NY for his performance in Equus, so I wouldn't discount him in this just because he also happens to be Harry Potter. ;)

I thought I'd bump this up....got my ticket for "How to Succeed...." with Daniel Radcliffe! I couldn't resist the good deal I got.

Saw Mamma Mia last weekend and my friend and I have tickets to Cactus Flower off-Broadway on March 2 and then if I can sign up for the trip through school I'll be seeing How to Succeed on March 3 (I'm off campus at my internship next Wednesday when the sign-ups are but my friend is going to hopefully be able to sign me up for the trip). Too bad I won't get the free train ticket into the city as I have class that night until 5:30 and will just have to drive myself to the train station and pay to get in haha

I got my ticket for christmas! I can't wait. I'll be going in April

Last saturday I saw Spider-Man:Turn of the Dark. It really wasn't as bad as the reviews were. IMO. The sets and stuff were great. The flying was cool and had about 3 songs that I really liked. I heard they are rewriting it so thats good. The book was a little weak.

haha yup. I've been here for 10 years. I love it. It's just a little crazy in the summer but I don't mind :thumbsup2

I was thinking about going to see Catch me if you can. It opens next month. It seems interesting (i loved the movie.) Plus it has Aaron Tevit from Next to Normal

I got tickets to see Mary Poppins on the 25th next week in Boston.

I'm going to see Mary Poppins on the 27th! I'm actually really excited (I was never really that into the movie). A couple of my friends saw it on broadway a few years ago and they said it was awesome. I just can't wait to see how they stage it.

A friend of mine is the accompanist for the tour. If you see a short-ish, baldish guy with a friendly smile and a mustache playing piano, say hi to Chip :)

Have an audition for Canada's best (and only, I think) Musical Theatre program next month.
Who knows? You may see me on Broadway LOL

Beyond that, Mary Poppins, Chess, The Lion King and Hair are coming in the 2011/2012 season! I'M SO EXCITED!

Now I just need to finally see Kiss Me Kate and The Little Mermaid and I'll be in dream-land!

One day I hope to get to New York to see a Broadway show, till then I will continue to go to London shows, have just booked to see Shrek the musical and also Ghost, both open this summer and I have tickets for October. The best show I have seen is Pricilla Queen of the Desert - fabulous show, would really recommend it.
