~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Dave - How was the memorial service? I admire your CTing while your shin is beat...I just tend to give up when I can't run. Massage that shin, push the splintered bone back in place!

I ran 12 miles this a.m. It felt pretty ok, actually. Took a hot bath afterward. The feet feel OK, a little stiff after sitting for a while, but I'll deal. The real test will be when I get out of bed tomorrow a.m.

So, when are we doing that relay race, peeps? April Civil War relay???:rolleyes1popcorn::
Hey Jodi. The memorial for Dana's grandmother was nice. I was a little melancholy the whole day, but it was a nice service. Maggie (DD 11 princess: ) sang one of the hymns solo, and it was really nice.

Thanks for the words of encouragement about my shin and training. I was hobbling around today after running yesterday. I'm icing it now.

Nice job for you getting your 12 miler in. I actually miss getting those long runs in. April Civil War relay hmmmmmm, sounds interesting. I don't know though, DW might kill me with all the traveling I've been doing.

Mikey - Will the Disney full (part of the Goofy), be Kathy's first marathon?? How's the Richmond training going for you? Should I make my Boston hotel reservation now?popcorn::
Jodi - Yes. So-so. No.

Nice job on the 12. Here's hoping you're not too sore in the morning.

The Civil War relay MAY be a possibility*.

Colleen - I'd rather take a sharp stick in the eye than have to watch American Idol on a routine basis! I did, much to my surprise, like the AI show at Hollywood Studios though. And I do like Ellen's Energy Adventure... Maybe they could get rid of a couple more idiots, stop calling people "Yo Dog" and change it to Ellen's American Energy Idol Adventure. I'd love to see Bill Nye the Science Guy as host! Bill, Bill!

* The above statement is in no way meant to be a binding agreement to enter into a commitment to participate in said event. It is merely meant as an indication that there could be an interest in participation if other parties are willing to commit and there are no conflicts due to, but not the limited to the following; family events, monetary constraints, injuries, Bot banishment, chronic diarrhea, imprisonment, or death. Failure to participate should in no way illicit ill will with those currently expressing interest in the event and should not prevent the above parties from jointly participating in future events as appropriate.

Dave - Maybe you should consider a shin transplant.:confused3

BTW, the idea of massaging a shin as Jodi suggests, even a non-injured shin, gives me the heebie-jeebies. That's just got to hurt!

Mike: gotta love the post that comes with its own disclaimer :rotfl:

Dave: sorry for your loss

We are finally setting into a new "normal". We got back from DL and DD6 started her first day of 1st grade (new school for her and 1st time on the bus). We've all been trying to transition into the new routine while a bit jet lagged. The DL 1/2 went well-- the weather was blessedly kind and cooled off on race morning and even was a little cloudy after the sun came up. Butch had a great run and got a PR at 1:58, I was less than a minute off of a PR but all in all not too bad considering all of the walking and carrying of DD that preceeded the race.

Next up for us is the PDR-- Lou, see you there

The BOT Thread was a buzzing over the past few days.. sorry I didn't even lurk.

Jodi~ My knee was a bit sore most of the week after my 15 miler. It felt fine during, but the day after it exhibited, lets say, a boo-boo. I think it is the MCL. I just took it easy all week and let it heal up. It felt pretty good as of Friday and good yesterday and today.

It felt so good, I went running this evening. I finished right around 7:35 pm as it got dark (I hate it getting dark so early ).

Miles: 7.0
Time: 1:06:04
Pace: 9:26
Splits: 9:46, 9:43, 9:17, 9:14, 9:42, 9:19, 9:02.

I like the negative splits the last three miles. The last mile included a major hill in our neighborhood too. As a precaution, I iced the knee when I got home. It felt pretty good overall though.

Next Sunday morning I am running in the Philadelphia Distance Run. Lou & Jen~ Let me know when and when we'll be meeting up. Will it be near that Rocky dude again? What time?

Sara~ Woo HOO! So glad you are going to be in WDW in January with us. I hope we can do an organized BOT dinner/lunch/drinkfest (I want to try my first Optimator!).

Have a wonderful week!

:grouphug:

Howard

(I want to try my first Optimator!).
That's what all the girls say!

Jen - Congrats on a good race weekend and a successful first week of school. Are the bus issues all ironed out?

Howard - Nice run with the negative splits.

There were plenty of negatives with my run today. Unfortunately, splits weren't one of them. I'm flushing it from my memory. Goodbye

Mike, negatives...yes, forgetbout-it!. DH had a great run this weekend, so it will all equal out on Nov. 14th.:thumbsup2 He said a few more good runs and he will be ready! I already have my kids billeted out for that weekend, so get your butt in gear.

Howard, nice 7 miler at the end of the day. That is my favorite time to run, but I have a hard time settling down after the run for beddie-by-time.

Oh, Jen, your DD's first bus experience, so exciting!! I hear there is a lot of knowledge gained on school buses!:rolleyes1

Dave, wow, Maggie sang one of the hymns, so sweet! You must have a strong girl there.

Jodi, OK, DH wants me to ask about the relay. *see Mike's disclaimer above

You guys are SUCH Deebags!! I can't believe no one can commit to a dang relay! Bad enough I have to cater to Mike by doing this Civil War thing because it's close to his home :sad2: Disclaimers....sheesh:headache:.

Mike - Get your Disneyfood-ladened a** out there & get ready for Richmond already. I have pre-paid my room for Boston....don't make me wast my money!

Howard - Excellent 7-miler, good job :woohoo:. Looking forward to trying your first Optimator, eh? Ask poor Kathy about that day :guilty::sad2:.

Dave - You must be so proud of Maggie.

Jen - Kudos to you & Butch on a great race in CA! Glad you're home safe. Have you recovered from sending your little one on a bus for the first time?:sad1:

Colleen - See above rant re: relay. Loved that NYC video - my stomach gets all queasy when I watch it though :laughing:....popcorn::.

Hi to all you non-posting-over-the-weekend-BOTS!

No ill-effect from that 12 miler on Sat. & I'm pretty happy about how I felt during it, too. Considering an 18 miler race next Sun. (I think I'm supposed to run 18 miles next weekend anyway), but not sure I should increase mileage that quickly. Planning on running several 1/2 marathons towards the end of the month in lieu of 20 miler LR & such....just testing my Less-is-more theory. Again :rolleyes1. Really, I just can't wrap my head around 20 miles.

Jodi - Relaypopcorn::. Nice job on the LR:banana: Sunday night Botfest post-marathon sounds great:thumbsup2. In on Friday, out on Tuesday, Pop Century and at the present moment, the father of my children:lmao: Any and all of that could change:rolleyes1

Mike - I hope the Goofy training's going well for Kathy:banana:! I'm sure you'll do great in Richmond:cheer2: Congrats on the teenager in the house.

Howard - Congrats on the negative splits and best of luck at the PDR this weekend:banana: Trusting Cam will take lots of great pics:love:.

Jen - Great time on the DL 1/2 for you and Butch:yay:. Hoping the new routine is going splendidly. Have fun at PDR.

Chester - Tell Tracy to get those steps in!! How can you beat a marathon in Hawaii:confused3? Have a blast with Chet @ RFTT and I look forward to seeing you all again real soon.

Dave - Glad to hear the memorial service went well and how wonderful that Maggie was able to sing:cloud9:. Loads of :wizard: for your shin issues!

Cindy - Are you and Matt still in for Baltimorepopcorn::? How's the training going...

Lou - Best of luck at PDR this weekend:cheer2:.

THNDRMATT's got me inspired to do some running today:hippie:. I figure if he can pound out an Ironman, I need to at least run a few miles:sad2: I saw three women running in my new neighborhood this morning when I was walking my dogs so I am hoping to make new friends soon:thumbsup2

Have a great week:grouphug:

Hi, everyone! So glad you are all getting in great runs. The weather here is gorgeous and I hope it continues to be cool and clear. I LOVE fall runs!

Sara -- YAY!!! I can't wait to see you in January!

Colleen -- Even if you don't want to do the Philly races, I think you need to come stay with us for those weekends, bringing your energy and positivity and awesome salad-making talents.

Can I come to any BOTS gathering in January, even if I'm not really a BOT? Last year, I was too busy cooking lasagna for 67 people and planning a "wedding" so Howard had the pleasure of your company without me. :sad1: I know it's a little early to be getting you all to commit to me foisting myself on you, but a girl needs something to look forward to, right?

My mileage plans for this weekend were severely altered when I attempted .25 miles at 4.2 mph on the TM on Friday at physical therapy. Not sure who was more frustrated - my PT because I tried it and ran through the pain? Or me because I couldn't pull off one step further? Ultimately, my little adventure required a transdermal dose of dexamethasone (not sure I spelled that right). So NOT comfortable and loved the red welts on both the application site and the "grounding" site. We did that again Saturday and today. My knee hurts right now, even just sitting still. I am getting very frustrated. Today is 2 months post-injury. This stinks. I see the ortho again on Wednesday. I am hoping he'll suggest a cortisone shot a few days before RftT and I can get through that.

Knowing I'll see Chester and Tracy and Lily and Anne and . . .......many other WISHers in less than 4 weeks is making me

Wow! Lots of activity here over the weekend.

Colleen - Loved the NYC video.

Mike - I agree with your assessment of AI. I'm sure my family will want to check out the show in January but I don't expect it to be the highlight of my weekend.

Dave - Sorry for your loss.

Sara - Ditto on the glad you are going to WDW comment.

Jodi - Nice job on the 12. Yes, you may want to be careful with the 18 miles. If you do it I would run at a low gear.

Jen - Glad you and Butch had a good time at DL. Congrats to Butch for the PR and cracking the 2-hr barrier. I saw someone post the DL medal and special medal on FB this weekend and it looked like they were the same ones from last year with the exception of the "2009". Is that true? If that's the case that seems a little weak. You'd think Disney would come up with new designs each year.

Howard - Nice job on the 7 miles and negative splits.

Cam - I think it's safe to say you're a BOT, assuming you actually want that label. We ate dinner at your house so I think you are one by default. I think it will be cool hanging out after the race. I think Biergarten or any place that sells beer in the World Showcase will attract me like a moth to a flame. Sorry about your knee. I think the Eagles need to get Donavan McNabb "a transdermal dose of dexamethasone".

Jen & Howard and other WISHers - I'm thinking we could just meet up on the Art Museum steps before and/or after the race. Real simple...just hang out near the bottom of the steps on the side closest to Rocky. I'll probably get to Philly real early so I can park on the street and will just go right there. We are having a big Eagles/Saints pool party on Sunday so I am not sure how long I can hang afterwards.

Hey everyone else.

Squeezed in 10 miles on Saturday. I'm not too worried about PDR on Sunday but looking forward to it and catching up with you of you guys. A PR may be a stretch because I have not tried to run at that pace since the Broad St Run last May.

Lou

Mike – I don’t believe I have welcomed you back to reality yet. Sorry. But I am enjoying your more frequent posts!

Dave – I can’t remember – are you still considering Baltimore?

Jodi – Glad to hear that your 12 was ok!

Colleen – I’m glad you had a good 15 miles! As for your, AI question, I gave up on that show a few years ago, but with Ellen on it, I may try to watch it again this season.

Lou – Good luck at the PDR.

Howard – I’m sorry that you are still having knee issues.

Cam – I’m so sorry that you are still having so many knee problems.

Jen – I’m glad you had a good race at DL!

Chester – I’ll be seeing you soon at ToT!

Sara – Yup, still in for Baltimore. Half for me and full for Matt who ran 21 miles on Sat. btw. (in slightly less time than it took me to run 16 – see below)

CindyLou – I hope your training is going well.

As for me, I ran 16 on Saturday. I have a new attitude about running for the time being - I don’t think I have any chance of getting a PR at Richmond so I no longer care. I ran the 16 miles very slowly and walked whenever I felt even a little bit tired (so really anytime there was a slight hill, etc). Most miles ended up being between 12 and 13 minutes. Unlike my previous long runs, this run didn’t suck.:thumbsup2 I think this is a good plan for me for now until I get used to running higher mileage again, which I honestly think won’t be for a few months.

Most importantly, Matt and I are in for whatever Marathon weekend activities are going on!!! And thanks to the information provided by Colleen, we are book at the Beach Club!!!:banana:

Hello Bots,

Cindy: Good job on completing 16. I think your change of attitude about your speed is probably healthy. It's stressful when you expect yourself to run a PR every time out. Do what you can both physically and mentally and you'll be a lot happier for it.

Lou: Best WISHes for PDC. Even if it's not a PR, it will help in your training for NYC.

Cam: Ouch, the transdermal.....sounds painful. Hopefully it helped more than it hurt. I hope it gets better soon.

Sara: It would be great if you can meet some running friends. It helps having some local support. Hope you were able to get a run in yesterday.

Jodi: Glad the 12 miler didn't ruin you. 18 miles does seem like a big jump. Which 1/2 marathons are you planning?

Mike: Hope you are able to get back into a post-vacation groove.

Howard: Glad the knee was able to handle your 7 miler. Good job on the negative splits.

Jen: Congrats to you and Butch on good races at DL. Glad things are getting back to normal.

Dave: Hope the shins are improving.

Colleen: Glad the new shoes have helped. Enjoy this great Fall weather while it lasts. Ellen should be an interesting addition to AI.

Things are settling down post-end of summer family activities. We had a great time camping although it was a bit chilly overnight. I had to alter a few of my runs to fit in with family time, but now we're back on a schedule so hopefully the next 5 weeks will go well. I did skip a run yesterday because I've got a slight cold, but I'm giving it until tomorrow to go away. I had 18 on Friday which went pretty well. About 15 sec/mile slower than my 16 miler a few weeks back, but I'm hoping that's nothing to fret about. I'm still trying to find a better balance with my eating. Too many sweets. I'm not feeling over confident that I'm in BQ shape for this race, but that's usually how I feel going in to a race, so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Hey Botties. I ran 50 min. yesterday afternoon b/c I was too much of a slug to get up on time in the a.m. It sucked b/c it was 80 degrees.:scared1: Today I rode my bike 40 mins. for CT. Tomorrow I'll get up in the a.m. (:lmao:) & run whatever I'm supposed to. I've decided to bag that 18 miler this weekend & do the 8 that is "prescribed". Next weekend is 18 miles scheduled, but I think I'll do a local 1/2 & add 2 more for 15.

Sara - Don't bother making friends with those people - you'll just put headphones on & offend them when you give them dirty looks on your group runs.:rotfl:

Cam - I feel really bad about your dumb 'ol knee. And of course we expect you to be @ the BOT drink-fest...you're a bona-fide BOT!

Mindy - I like your attitude about running - :thumbsup2. Since none of us are going to the Olympics (well, maybe as spectators) you're definitely thinking right about times/mileage, etc. I forgot you were doing Richmond!

CindyLou - Awesome job on those LRs...did I ever tell you that I suck @ running? I hear you about the sweets...the colder it gets the more I tend to "need" tea & treats in the evening popcorn::. Here are the local marathons I'm considering: Hog's Back 1/2 on 9/25 OR Niantic Bay 1/2 on 9/26; Ridgefield 1/2 on 10/4; Hartford 1/2 on 10/10.

Lou - Don't go too crazy @ PDR - you don't want to get injured or anything. WISH I could be there with you guys.:sad2: Sounds like you guys are going to have a great BOT meet w/ Rocky! YO!

Hey to all others who are too busy to post.:snooty:

Sara - Don't bother making friends with those people - you'll just put headphones on & offend them when you give them dirty looks on your group runs.:rotfl:
Mike and I were walking the dogs this morning and saw the running women again. Luckily, I had my MCM shirt on so perhaps they'll believe at one point in time I was the real deal:confused3. I really need sane people to talk to these days:lmao: I'm sick of trying to understand insanity and why I should subscribe to it:rotfl2:.

CindyLou - I hope the cold is staying at bay for you:wizard: Best of luck with the last 5 weeks of training and I'm sure you'll have a great race:yay:

Cindy - Glad your LR went well and I like your race philosophy:thumbsup2 Congrats on the Beach Club for marathon weekend :woohoo:

Lou - Have a blast at PDR and you may just surprise yourself with a PR:cool1:

Cam - Who said you weren't a BOT:confused3? Can't wait to see you in January . Loads and loads of :wizard: for the knee!

Colleen - Hoping the new shoes are treating you well :cloud9:.

I 'kind of' ran yesterday so I'll consider it progress:yay: Only one dog on the walk in the morning so we did a bit of R/W. It's a start;) Hoping this weekend I can at least put in a decent showing:goodvibes. Best of luck to all of the BOTS going to PDR this weekend. I'll be thinking of you:grouphug:

Jodi~ I am running the Ridgefield Half with Charlie (Judy's DH)! I welcome another BOT there to run with, cheer on and generally complain to about how bad I'll feel afterwards. Please say you'll consider this one more than the others. Even if you chose not to run it, Cam and I'll be there for the weekend and will most likely hit a dinner spot with Judy & Charlie and perhaps we can all get together for some grub (Tequila Mockingbird or the Country/Western Place we ate at before that you know about).

Lou~ When are you going to the Expo for PDR? I have to schedule a run up in between activities for my son throughout the day. Meeting you (Jen, Butch, etc.) at the bottom right of the stairs near Rocky sounds fine for the race.

I may do an easy 4 to 5 mile run tomorrow in advance of the PDR this weekend. For now, I am taking it easy on the knee. I think I'll need it this weekend. :rolleyes1

Hi to all the other Parental Unit Bots! You know who you are!!! AND CINDY AND MATT!!!
