Hardly injury free. I developed "runners knee" during training for my second WDW Full when I decided to run a Cross Country marathon instead of a schedule 18 miler. Learned lesson number one: Don't run 26.2 miles through woods grass and sand if you only train on pavement. My knee went out at 18 miles and I had to walk the rest of the way to finish. I kept training on the injured knee with runs until the pain started which was usually less than 8 miles, since that was when the knee seemed to go out. At the 2007 WDW Full I got in 16 miles running before the knee gave up and had to walk the rest of the way.
Early training for 2007 MCM was interrupted following double hernia surgery and recovery.
That was followed by a pain in my left hip while training for 2008 Goofy. The pain would start after I got up from sitting for long periods of time. I would usually go away after a mile or so. I kept training on it and it eventually went away.
While for 2008 Philly, I had abdominal pains that felt like a hernia but weren't. The Doc said it was an adhesion and to rest. So, I kept running since it would always seem to go away within 20 minutes of running.
Now I have a pain in my right heel, especially when I wake up in the morning. It is also noticeable after sitting for extended periods of time. It usually goes away very quickly once I'm up and about. It has never bothered me while running, so I keep on running.
I occasionally have miscellaneous pains that crop up while running but I "Chi" them away.
Ooooookay, I stand corrected.
