The "Boo to Us" Weight Loss Challenge

I started off real good with a yogurt 100 cal for breakfast and then me and my housekeeper started to clean up the yard, I burned off all kinds of sweat and things, then I ate a cheeseburger and 3 onion rings, dinner was not too bad sausage and peppers with rigatoni and tomatoes. I've probably stayed within the 1500 calories for today, but just barely! :rotfl2:

Weigh in last night! Sadly, I've gained about 1 lb since the Disney vacation. :sad2:

I really need to get back on that bicycle!

I'm doing ok today, I had 1 packet of oatmeal and a banana for breakfast, and then for lunch I had a ww frozen meal and an apple with peanut butter. for dinner I wil be having another ww meal. I have to get my butt in gear! I did buy a tire pump for my jogging stroller so DS and I can take some long walks, so that's a start!

With the preparation for the Termite treatment my diet has been shot to hell. I'm trying to eat up food, that has been around for a while. Thursday we packed up all the food in the freezers except what I had planned to eat for the week. Tonight I get my, "please take me out to dinner since I cooked for the last two weeks," wish. We're going to this dive called the Prospector for Prime Rib night. Last time we ordered there we got three meals each out of the leftovers, so I probably shouldn't weigh myself tomorrow...:rolleyes1

Today I had lunch with a girlfriend that I hadn't seen for about a month.

My friend told me that she had lost 1 kg (about 2 lbs) and she was really happy about it. She had been good about her food and goes to the gym 3 or 4 times a week. She trains hard and had been really frustrated by the lack of movement on her scales; until this week. It took her 6 weeks to lose this amount and it fell off pretty much overnight.

I found this really inspirational and thought I should share.

I have been good this week - have gotten back into a routine of eating bircher muesli for breakfast, a light lunch (salad or sushi - although today was an exception) and a dinner within the WW portion sizing.

DH has gotten a bicycle pump and has promised to pump up my tyres......for the last 2 weeks. I should be out cycling again this weekend.

With the termite fumigation I have been eating at McDonald's way more often than I would care to admit, but surprisingly it didn't show when I stepped on the scale this morning. Probably all the energy I've been exerting moving boxes and chasing cats!

That's my goal! I really want to lose 10 pounds before my trip. I have been pretty good, except the 2 milkshakes I had after I got my teeth pulled. But even without eating almost any solid food for like 5 days, I haven't lost ANYTHING. I forced myself to get up and walk this morning before breakfast, and I walked with my family on Saturday. I am going to walk tomorrow and Tuesday, and hopefully Wednesday, but I know Thursday and Friday will be exercise free. I am still soda free and fast food free (minus the milkshakes) and I haven't drank any beer lately, thought Thursday and Friday will change that I am sure. After Thanksgiving though, it's back to the hard core diet! 10 pounds should be totally doable if I work really hard. And I keep telling myself that if I lode 10, that's 25% of my goal right there. I just hope to do enough walking at WDW to keep from gaining too much back!

Good luck! I've been eating horribly, but I just spent two days at Disneyland, so what do you expect. I figure I won't worry about it until after Thursday! :lmao:

Time to resurrect this thread a little.....

I was rudely woken this morning by DH turning over and hitting me! I struggled to open my eyes...and realised that it was only just 5.10 am. My head was pounding; not surprising given that I'd hit the pillow at a little after 1 am. We'd spent the night at my work's Christmas party.

The work debauchery is legendary amoung its staff. It's the one night of the year where the whole company pretty much congregates together and collectively does the Rapunzel thing.
And last night was no exception. Don't get me wrong! There are no wild swings from chandeliers nor any sense of politically incorrect behaviour. We're all a bunch of 30, 40, 50-something people that just love to have a good time; and stay within the bounds of acceptable legal and police sanctioned behaviour.

And being woken up at 5 am in the morning was not something that I had counted on after the night/early morning before.

I tried my darndest to get back to sleep. Try, being the operative word. I was awake when first one, then the second, cat meowed to go outside. I was awake when the alarm went off. I was awake when our newspaper got delivered with a thud on the paving. So, at 6.30 am, I got up and decided that a hot cup of Joe was in order.

And then I wrestled with my conscience.

Should I go for a cycle?

DH had indeed pumped my tyres up the week before and I no longer had that excuse of flat wheels to hold on to. The extra air in the wheels had been nagging at the back of my mind and it was time to blow it away.

It only took me about 2 hours to work up the conviction to get on my bike.

I am happy to report that I cycled for 5 km this morning and am feeling much better for having done so.

Now...I just need to stay good with my food. :rolleyes1

I have unfortunately not been as dedicated as I would like, but there is no one blame but myself. I vow to get back on board this week with the exercise, despite the cold temps. I will be eating weight watchers smart ones for lunch and dinner. I will stay away from holiday treats! I will avoid alcohol like the plague! I don't know what kind of damage I have done to my losses over the past couple weeks, but I am (foolishly) hoping that I have remained steadyish. At this point I only have 12 days... I am thinking of wieghing myself tomorrow, then being crazy good at the diet, but not weighing myself again until we leave...

I got way off track for the termite fumigation and ate pretty poorly. I put back on a few pounds, however over the past week, I have sort of watched them slowly drop away. I thought for sure with all the lugging, lifting, fretting, sweating that I did yesterday that a nice big dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant wouldn't set me back! :lmao:

I guess Canneloni, Cheese Ravioli in Alfredo Sauce, and Fettucine Alfredo, weren't the right choices! :rotfl2: I was about a pound heavier than the day before!

When Fran gets home from the grocery store, I'll start a Beef Stew full of vegetables, that should be fairly OK....

It's lunchtime here. I'm hoping to sink my chops into a totally unhealthy burger with the lot; with a gazillion golden fluffy fat fries on the side...

Sadly, it's not to be.

Dinner last night was a totally healthy tuna, hard boiled egg, olives nicoise salad with freshly nuked asparagus. The asparagus comes up a treat if you rinse the spears in water and then microwave on medium for about 2 - 3 minutes. I made a balsamic dressing to go with both.
The concession to the meal was to allow myself a slice of wholewheat bread to soak up the balsamic dressing on my plate.

Breakfast this morning was a small serve of bircher muesli. And when I caught up with the other mum's after school drop off, I settled on just a skinny latte...and watched the others tuck in to cheesecake, biscotti and the like.

Needless to say, I'm starving right now!

I'm planning on making myself a ham and cheese sandwich.

Dinner is likely to consist of pasta (WW approved portion size) and the rest of the salad from last night.

I'm thinking of going cycling again after dinner...

It's after 10 pm and I've spent half the night out stalking other people's houses. Well...houseS is probably a little bit of a stretch. I stalked 2 houses. The photography section of the Dis runs a monthly assignment and this month's assignment is Outdoor Christmas lights. So, I've been trying to work out how the heck I take photographs.

And before I get too carried away and Alison having to tell me that I'm getting too technical (again), the point of the story is:

That was 2.5 hours that I was out and about where I did not EAT anything! I made sure I took my water bottle with me...but aside from water, I did not EAT! :rotfl:
 I think I'm going to like this month's photography assignment. It's a sure-fire way for me to keep my mouth shut and food away from my stomach.

Dinner tonight was a deviation from the plan. We ended up getting take-away pizza. DH and I got a small pizza to share. I ended up eating half the pizza. And just for comparison purposes, the size of a half a small pizza in Australia is about the size of 1.3 slices of pizza that you get in the US. So, whilst I technically wasn't good, I still ate within my WW points allowance today.

I also did go for a bike ride. I rode 13 or 14 laps round the velodrome - I lost count somewhere - so including the distance from my home to the park, I definitely did more than 5 km riding today.

Have a good day everyone!

I did a good job today!! I had a packet of Carnation instant breakfast and 1/2 a banana for breakfast (Jack stole the other half). For lunch I had... ok so don't kill me but I had a grande peppermint white mocha latte... but I had it with nonfat milk and NO whipped cream, so not too bad right? For dinner I had a chicken and cheese quesadilla, grapes, pineapple, and flash baked sweet potato fries. Our cafeteria here at work has all healthy food, so I know the quesadilla wasn't as bad as it sounds.

It doesn't sound bad...it sounds YUMMY!!

So in the last two years I've put on 30 lbs, I really didn't change anything in my eating habits, but the pounds just kept piling on. I've also not been able to get out of bed before 10AM, I need 11 hours of sleep every night.

About six weeks ago, I did a home sleep therapy thing and was diagnosed with mild Sleep Apnea, which got me an all expenses paid trip (pending insurance verfication) to the sleep Doctor. He referred me to an official sleep center where they hooked me up to multiple wires, put goo in my hair (for the electrodes) and goo all over me for the other electrodes. Turns out that I stop breathing once every three minutes per hour on average, but actually during REM sleep I stop breathing every minute, sometimes for 30 seconds! :scared1: So I now have a companion on my nightstand and I have to wear a mask every night.

The only good news of this is that supposedly people have reported tremendous weight loss after they start CPAP therapy becuase good sleep helps weight loss. Last night was my first night on the machine. I sort of felt better today, but at some point in the night, I pulled the mask off, so I didn't get the full benefit of the treatment. It evidently takes four weeks to get used to the thing...so we'll see. Ugh!

I am having a hard time understanding why after 45 days of NO fast food, NO regular soda, and very limited alcohol, none in the past 20 days at all, I have not lost any weight! I do know that I haven't been exercising almost at all, and I'm sure if I did, that would help, but seriously! Those are relatively major lifestyle changes for me, and nothing???

I can't speak for much, but evidently with my development of the sleep apnea, one of my Doctor's got into some nitty gritty of how calorie burning works and how oxygen consumption works and it is quite interesting. I gained 40 lbs in the last 2 years and that is about the time that my sleep deprivation started...I don't want to send you down the wrong path, but it is possible that if you are experiencing extra fatigue that you may have a situation with your sleep, which causes lack of oxygen which doesn't allow you to burn calories as you should....Of course I could be totally wrong too...:rolleyes1

Alison - I hope you get used to your new sleeping companion fast. And I hope it means that you'll drop the weight quick!

I go through periods like this too. And then 5 lbs just fall off! Maybe you just have to hang in there....
