The Boardwalk Inn Information Thread

We'll be staying at the BWV for the first time in early December. I'm wondering where there's a good place to eat breakfast. From what I can gather, the Boardwalk Bakery is the only place that serves anything hot for breakfast, and the selections appear to be somewhat limited. DH especially really likes a pancake or bacon and eggs breakfast. We wouldn't mind walking over to the Swan or Dolphin or the Yacht/Beach Club. I don't really want an expensive breakfast buffet - just a place where you can order what you want. Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA.

Captain's Grille is very good for breakfast. We've also had breakfast at the Swan (can't remember the name of the restaurant), but it was very good as well. There's also the Cape May Cafe at the BC, but that can be quite busy!

I've been looking at the info here and online for Boardwalk Inn and I have a couple of questions. First, does anyone have pictures of what the fitness center looks like? I'm curious how much they have in there. Just one or two treadmills or is it pretty well set up for someone to seriously get a workout done? Second question is a really dumb one but I'll ask so I know for sure, do the standard view rooms have a luggage rack and a coffee maker?

Thanks so much! I can't wait to stay at BWI :goodvibes

Allears.net has some shots of the fitness center. http://allears.net/acc/g_bwi.htm Page down to the bottom and you'll see three links to photos of the "Muscles & Bustles Health Club."

And, yes, a standard-view room should have a luggage rack and a coffee maker. The only difference between it and an upgraded-view room is the view. :thumbsup2

Thanks to all for the breakfast suggestions. It sounds as if we'll have some good options. I'm really looking forward to our first stay at BWV.

Thank you so much for that link and for answering my questions. Looks like the fitness center is a little small but has a few treadmills so that's good.

Has anyone here used the fitness center? Have you noticed it being very crowded first thing in the morning? Thanks!

We're looking at booking, but I've read there is only a small set of elevators to use and this can be an issue as far as long walks to the elevator to go up or down. We plan on having a stroller, so this could be an issue as far as waiting for the elevator as opposed to walking up or down the stairs...

This is absolutely true. One thing to note is that we never had to wait too long for the elevators or had to deal with overpacked elevators. That was definitely a problem at our last Contemporary stay. I don't know why it was different.

(Except for the one time we waited for an elevator with Randy Orton from the WWE at the BWI...)

I would agree... our room last fall wasn't far from the elevator so we didn't have to deal with the long hallways, but we also never had to wait for an elevator and almost always rode up & down alone.

This makes me feel better. Before we stayed at AKL, we heard about the loooooooong walks and all that, only to actually walk to the almost end of it and realize it wasn't that bad. So I know the extreme walks and waits have to be put in perspective compared to the level of patience and expectations people have.

and my Dh and I joked about how the elevators were waiting just for us. Literally in 4 days we only pushed the button and a door magically opened. We were in 4263 which was a great room, not too far from the lobby.

We used the fitness center everyday. It has about 5 treadmills, 4 elipticals and some weights. The treadmills have tvs on them so bring some headsets. You cannot see the TV's on the walls from the treadmills.

Thanks for the info! Was it very busy while you were in there? Did you have to wait to use the equipment?

Also, new question...I asked this in the other BWI thread and never got an answer. I'm not sure if different people frequent this thread so I'll try here too. I need lots of water for my Jan trip since I'm doing the 1/2 and full marathon and need to stay hydrated the days leading up to the races. I normally order water from Costco and have it delivered when staying at a value. Can I do the same here? Has anyone ordered from there without problems? Just curious if it's any different with the deluxe resorts. Thanks!

We've always ordered water and shipped some groceries from home via UPS. On our last stay at Beach Club Villas, they charged us a fee for taking in our packages - I think they said it was because they now had an outside company handling their packages. This was 2 years ago. I would call the Boardwalk directly and ask them if there is a fee. I believe the fee was more than the cost of the items I was shipping!
