The Boardwalk Inn Information Thread

The Innkeeper's Club will begin renovations next week. It should be finished by the end of July.

The renovations explain why there was little availability for the first week of November 2008 back at the first of the year when we booked. Does anyone know how "under construction" the resort will be in early November? I'm not really upset, but it would have been nice to have known about the renovations when we booked our package. I had a hard time talking my husband into this (and into staying at the Boardwalk), and now I'm a little concerned that our stay will be challenging due to construction. Should I be worried? It's too late to change, but I can prepare myself (and him) if it's going to be bad. I really appreciate any advice any one can give.

Hey Sparkie's Mom,
As I said in another BW thread, Disney is really great at keeping their guests happy and minimizing inconvenience. I wouldn't worry too much. And if you get there and find that it really is, talk to management and they will do everything they can to make it work for you. In some cases, you can even move to another hotel if you demand it.

I just spoke with someone at the Innkeeper's Club. The entire floor is closed right now and will reopen on July 26 with the new rooms! :) We check-in July 29... I will post lots of pictures!!! :thumbsup2

Anyone have pics of the model room?

thanks tigrlvspooh!
That's so exciting I can't wait to go now!

Clotho,

Thanks for the reply. Our experience with Disney CMs has always been wonderful, so I don't really expect any problems. It's just that there doesn't seem to be any information about what will be happening when and what to expect from the renovations. One of our stays at the Poly included renovations to a couple of the longhouses, but since they are individual, self-contained buildings and the BWI is not, I have wondered how this will affect us. I have so looked forward to this trip, and to our stay at the BW ... I don't want anything to spoil it.

Again, thanks for the reply.

What are they doing with the guest who've already booked CL during this time?

I don't think we accepted CL reservations for this time as we knew it would be down. The garden suites will still be open and VIPs will be allowed access to the lounge (I believe.. we got an email about it that I could dig up) but they'll be on a different floor.

No pics of the model room as it isn't open to the public yet.

fall08CP...I have a question. We are booked into a 2 bedroom suite standard view in mid Dec. We are not DVC members. Are there any particular locations I should request? I know NOTHING about this resort. I would have loved a different view but nothing else is available. So any help you can give would be very much appreciated!! :goodvibes

Where at the Boardwalk do you refill the refillable mugs?????????

Thanks very much in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!::goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Have any rooms, aside from CL, been refurbished yet? We check in at the end of this month. I wonder if there is any chance that we will get a refurbished room. We have a garden view reserved.

Thanks....

Wow, that is an *enthusiastic* question! :)

Leaping Horse Libations by the pool sells the mugs. Kind of a hike, I am afraid. I think maybe Seashore Sweets also refills them. Neither are open 24 hours, which is a bummer to me, who is a night owl!

We always use to have our refilled in the bar at BWI right off the lobby (bel vue room?). Did they stop refilling them there? Or is that bar not even there anymore!?? That would totally stink! :(

Hi everyone we just returned from yet another fantastic stay at our favorite resort.:thumbsup2 We were put on the 4th floor away from the Innkeepers Lounge, room 4308. While this room is a king size room, I hope not to stay their again. The section of rooms leading down to the access door is under construction as well as all the CL rooms and lounge. The 5th floor is also currently under construction. We were given the opportunity to see a renovated CL room on the 3rd floor. All I can say is WOW, and I cannot wait till Jan 09:cool1: The CL castmembers are now working in the lobby concierge desk. They are not happy about this and are trying to put on a happy face.pirate: The CL level section should be done by the end of July if everything stays on schedule.

Tell me all about the new room!!!! I'm so excited!!!! :)

I was told the CL would reopen on July 26... do you think that's on target?

THANKS!!! :goodvibes

The rooms are bright and cheerful. The wallpaper is yellow/white stripe. The daybed now looks like a pull out, full-size couch that opens up to a full size bed. The bedding is bright. They have a new cabinet for the TV which is a flat screen plasma TV. The only downfall to that is less drawer space.:lmao: Bathroom area looks to have new sinks, new wallpaper in the bathroom, and new linens and showercurtain. The walls have new pictures. The carpet is also being replaced. I would think the CL lounge and some rooms should be done by then. I know the staff is anxious to get back up there to their safe haven:thumbsup2

The bar is still there and in the mornings they have a continental breakfast bar set up. You can fill the mugs there with coffee also.

I was told by a CM on the Club level it should be done by end of July mid August. We go down Sept 5th for 9 nights staying Innkeeper's in a deluxe room. They said all will be finish by then. Said the Garden Suites will start on Sept 13th to be going under the knife so to speak lol. Not sure about rest of resort.

Where is the lounge located right now?

I asked specifically where the refillable mugs could be refilled...They said ALL COUNTER SERVICE LOCATIONS ON THE BOARDWALK....Boardwalk Bakery, Seashore Sweets.....

Quite surprised there is not a "beverage island refill station" by the Pool?
Not very convenient though..

Nice that all refillable mugs are now generic and not resort specific. If you happen to be at another resort, can refill there as well..

I'll take advantage of that feature!
