If you want that view guaranteed, that is the way to do it.

We had a deluxe concierge room on our December trip and loved it. There were just the two of us, so we had lots of space and really enjoyed the sitting area. We spent lots of time on our balcony enjoying the view (we had also booked this type of room because we wanted a guaranteed boardwalk view and we were glad we did).

If you do decide to book the deluxe concierge room be sure to request 4th floor as that is where the lounge is located.

Yes, you might want to request the 4th floor, but remember that it is a request only - we had requested 4th floor, but didn't get it.

thanks for comments/suggestions. i'm calling today to change from standard cl to deluxe. i really want to have that view! now i'll hope for jan 2007 aaa or ap rate to make it better!

Kerry,

Looks like you're the person to ask - we had to cancel our trip last year due to Katrina and the fact that I also lost my Dad. We're booked for Thanksgiving week, and I requested standard view - the CM said she would request EPCOT view for us, since we had to cancel our vacation last year. How likely am I to get it (also has to be a smoking room). I know this is a pretty vague question, but any input from you would be appreciated. Thanks, we can't wait, nothing will stop us this year!!!!

Kathy

P.S. Anyone with info - please respond. I was referred to this board and told to ask Kerry.

Kathy, that is a busy week, but you never know! If the CM put the request on your reservation and the reason for the request, there is a good chance you may get it. When you check in ask for a higher floor in order to view the high fireworks. I have found the cast members working the front desk to be very helpful. I have been spoiled by receiving a free CL upgrade my first time staying there. They knew what they were doing, that is the only way I now stay at the BW! I will be there again in December for my 10th visit.
If you have any other questions, please ask.

Being GF and Poly veterans we are thinking of trying an Epcot resort. We have only stayed at one none MK resort, YC five years ago, and it was great. My wife would now like to try the BWI. I think it would be a great change of pace, the only item holding me up in info on whether or not there is a spot for the kids to play in the sand. Th Poly, YC and GF all have spots for digging sand castles, which my kids LOVE. Believe it or not this item will be a deal breaker. Any ino would be great.

We just stayed at the BWI a few weeks ago. My kids are 11 and 13, so we didn't really explore the playground area. I know there is a small playground near the main pool area. It's like a small jungle gym type thing. I am assuming it sandy for safety, but can't gaurantee that for you. Sorry. Actually I am responding to your question more to recommend your staying at the Beach Club. They have such an exciting, fun pool area, that is actually a sandy bottom pool, with a lazy river, slides, and lots of room for "digging", I think you would definitely do better there. And unless you are a vacation club members, you can't pool hop to the beach club. Good luck, hope this info helps. Jane

The BWI does not have a place to play in the sand. But we stayed at BWI last year for the first time, and if it were me, I would much rather try Beach Club. We absolutely loved it there and felt it was very kid friendly. Also, they have Cap May for the character breakfast. Stormalong was great and my son, who was 1 then really loved sitting in the pool and playing in the sand!

does anyone know if the bwi has jr suites and are they part of the villas section? i saw something about a jr suite on the cl at bwi and wonder what the difference was between that and the cl deluxe room. thanks.

Just back, I requested a "High floor" and my blocked room wasn't ready so the CM called the room controller and got us a room.

We ended up with 5310 which is a parking lot view, overlooks pick/up drop off area. It had 2 queens and tons of towel animals. It was at the end of the hall but Not far to elevator.

I see this thread hasn't really been updated in about a month so I thought I'd throw some questions out there. We're arriving in a week for a 2 night weekend trip. There are 4 adults and 2 kiddos so we have booked a deluxe concierge room.

1) Do all of these rooms really have boardwalk views?

2) How has the food in the lounge been in terms of actual food and do they run out of things a lot?

3) If I get put on a floor other than 4, exactly how far of a walk is it to the lounge? Are we talking the other side of the hotel or a couple steps down the hall and up some stairs? I've stayed Poly concierge so thats the only lounge I've ever been in so far. And just for curiousity, where is the lounge? Is it over any of the shops or restaurants just so I can get a visual of where it is?

Any other little special things or tips, etc. would be great. This is the first time any of us are staying at the BWI or any Epcot Resort. We're looking forward to it! Thanks for the help!

I'll try to answer some of your questions, I'm sure others will have more specific (or more up to date) information for you!

1) Do all of these rooms really have boardwalk views? Yes. If I remember correctly, there are only a few of them (maybe 6 or 8) and they are right above the Boardwalk Bakery.

2) How has the food in the lounge been in terms of actual food and do they run out of things a lot? We were there last year at this time (almost one year to the day!) and the breakfasts were good (cereal, fruits, pastries), afternoon snacks weren't "all that" (goldfish, pretzels, m&m's, etc.), the evening hot appetizers were AMAZING (lots of different things usually from one of the restaurants on the boardwalk), and the desserts and cordials were PHENOMENAL!! I don't remember anything running out, the CM's kept things pretty well stocked, but I guess that also depends on the number of people there.

Here's where things get a little...well, let's just say there is room for improvement. We were in room 3227 (middle window above Boardwalk Bakery) and it was a bit of a hike to get to the Lounge. There were two ways to get there, go back to the elevators and go up to the 4th floor, or go up the stairs (which were almost like a service area). We used the stairs because they were closer, but they were kinda weird. Well lit, and safe...just arranged in a strange location. It's certainly not the other side of the hotel, but it's not just up some stairs. The lounge is on the 4th floor, it is not really above any shops or restaurants...but you could say it's sort of above and behind the Bakery. It faces the general direction of Epcot (and a sort of "garden" area below). You can see some of Illuminations from the lounge.

One of our favorite parts of having a boardwalk view was being able to sit on our balcony and watch some of the "street performers" below. They were very entertaining!

The BWI is the only resort we've stayed in...and we LOVED it! I hope you love it too!

Hey there everyone!
Well I am back from my BWI deluxe room and it was fabulous - room right over the Sweet shop and great concierge service!

My mom and I decided to head back in a couple weeks for a few days and are staying ath the Inn, but in a standard room. I requested a garden view in the hopes that we don't overlook a parking lot. Wise choice? Are there "epcot views" from standard rooms? Or know of any good or bad rooms? Thanks!

*Shannon

We're in a standard room right now! It overlooks the far left side of the Garden Suites and is on the same floor as the lobby. At first I was disappointed that we don't have an Epcot view but this is a really good location. It only takes a minute to walk to the staircase out to the Boardwalk and we're close to the lobby too.

Wonders10-sounds like you had the same room we did last year--awesome view and you are right about the reat concierge service!! I can't wait-only 53 more days~ :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Hi there,
We were on the 3rd floor in the middle room above the sweet shop. My brother and his wife, who aren't really huge disney fans, tagged along this time and when they stepped out on the balcony, they both looked at each other and said "this is awesome". Mission:Accomplished lol. Have a great trip!
