The Boards Clearing Out For The Weekend

It is because it has my last name in it.
Well that makes sense! Privacy wasn't such a big concern back in the day, good idea to change it. With regard to Mr. Murphy...I can only imagine the number of Dan Murphys in his general area. I think he's safe!;)

Good morning all, and a big Welcome! to those of you who have joined more recently, Thanks for chiming in!. Random topic: There has been a ton of hype about the Barbie and Oppenheimer movies opening this weekend. Anyone planning to see either one, or maybe caught it last night? I'll wait for streaming but am curious what y'all think if you see it in a theater. I can't muster much enthusiasm for Barbie, but I'll give it a shot when I can see it at home.
My sister and I plan to see both - Oppenheimer first then Barbie.

I'm not sure I agree. At least for me. Privacy was a huge concern. User IDs on AOL, Compuserve, and Prodigy were all bizarre combinations of letters and numbers assigned to you by the Provider. You couldn't pick your user name early on on Internet sites. And when those services started offering Internet E-Mail, those bizarre combinations of letters and numbers were your e-mail address.
I lurked here for some time before I got brave enough to sign up because of course the operators of the DIS know your real name and your real e-mail address and I didn't want to give out that information.

Yes, just using the link. I just don't care for how it works on the phone--nothing really wrong with it I guess. Just not a great user experience on the phone.
I get it. I also find it's a smoother experience on my desktop than on my phone, though I do still use both. Remembering to wait for the ads to "jump" before typing is the biggest thing.

DH was been a bit under the weather, so we're skipping it this weekend, but plan to eventually see Oppenheimer. I'll probably watch Barbie myself when it comes on streaming.

That is BECAUSE you are going to the DIS via the link. . .

. . . on your phone. . .

. . . via a browser that doesn't have an AdBlock type of software. . .

. . . on your phone. :bored:

I'm likely not the only one who sees the Disboards become a ghost town over the weekend, it's already started today. I understand that people get busy over the weekends and maybe even like to take a break from being on-line, but it wasn't always this way.

Anybody else recall the days when Friday night would roll around and there was kind of an informal understanding that we'd check in on Friday night with what was going on? Good times! Everyone have a great weekend:)
How is this posible?

I find the Dis boards slow both weekdays and weekends. Not many new posts in general. I frequent another forum (not Disney related) and it gets slow once in a while but there are a lot more new threads and people posting more.

As of late, to me the CM boards are kind of boring. Whenever an interesting discussion gets started it always seems to turn into an argument and it can get pretty nasty at times. It doesn't seem possible to have a discussion here that I find interesting that doesn't bring out the nastiness of some posters.
Sadly, I think this just mirrors the lack of skills and ignorance of many people today who were never taught manners or the art of conversation. Even as recently as 10-15 years ago, one used to be able to have a respectful conversation about a lot of topics that now, automatically generate anger, defensiveness, and always seem politically slanted. Many people simply do not know how to have a conversation. They only know how to talk AT people and can't or won't listen or think critically.
