I really enjoyed the birch beer(root beer) at the restaraunts at the Magic Kingdom. In fact I liked it so much I would like to buy some for my home, but I have no idea what brand it is.

Does anyone know the brand of birch beer that Disney uses in the MK??

Our waiter at Whispering Canyon Cafe told us that the birch beer was Fanta brand.

This is kind of off subject, but thanks ever so much!! You just don't know what you've done for me!! I had been trying to tell a co-worker about how good that stuff was a couple of days ago and got stuck on the name. I been racking my brain constantly and have halfway drove myself nuts, as well as my co-workers, trying to remember the name of that stuff (OCD is not a blessing)!! Birch Beer!! How could I have forgotten it in the first place?

Sniff, sniff, you've made me so happy!! I can't wait to tell everyone what it is tomorrow (and I'm sure they'll be happy to know that I can let it go now).

PS, if you find it anywhere, let me know, I really loved that stuff!

Having grown up in NJ and lived in different parts of the country as an adult, I can tell you, it's mainly an east coast thing. The first post mentions birch beer (root beer), I have to clarify - they're NOT the same! I've recently seen it in stores here in WI, so maybe it's starting to spread west. LOVED it as a kid!! And while I've never had Fanta, I can't believe it's as good as Hires or the Pennsylvania Dutch brand. If you can find it, give it a try!

We have it in the Dallas area and have for years. Target grocery stores and Whole Foods usually have it. Somehow it just tastes better at LTT, WCC and Trail's End--so we've learned to just save it for our time at WDW!!;)

Birch Beer also used to be known as Sasparila, but I haven't heard that term used in many years. Here in the Northeast, there are quite a few good brands of Birch Beer available in the stores.

Just happen to have two bottles of Pennsylvania Dutch Birch beer in the fridge.
Good stuff!!!

We have had Birch beer here in the North East forever. I love the stuff but I don't think it was Sasparila, they were always two different types of stuff here in NE.

I LOVE it!! And it's definately different than root beer. Even better, I think. I like the Pa. Dutch brand the best, but I've never tasted Fanta.

Nothing like a Lebanon bologna and American cheese sandwich with a birch beer. :teeth: You can't tell that I grew up near Dutch country, can you?? :p

OMG!!! I haven't had a Lebanon bologna and cheese sandwich since I was a kid (I grew up in PA). While I am not a big fan of birch beer (it definitely is different than root beer), my dd loves it. Thanks "Mom of Sleepy, Bashful and BabyDoc" for taking me back to my childhood memories.

:drinking1

JanaV - it isn't as good as a real PA Dutch Birch Beer, not even the right color. But a nice treat....

What I wouldn't do for a REAL Birch Beer in a mug with a Taylor Pork Roll Sandwhich ! :)

Birch Beer, Pork Roll, Hard Rolls......... Oh my Gosh, this is great. What a trip down memory lane. I grew up in central Jersey and then eastern PA. Boy do I miss that stuff!

OMG!! Lebanon bologna, Taylor Pork Roll, birch beer, all my favorites. Throw in some Drake's Cakes and we've got a party!! I want to go home!!!!!!!!!

In honor of this thread, I had myself a Taylor Pork roll and egg sandwich for breakfast.
YUM!!!

Don't foget Tastycakes and Yuengling beer. We can't get those up here in Maine either. Everytime we go back to PA we bring a huge supply of both home with us to get us through until the next trip. Boy has this thread gone off subject, in a good way! :earsboy:

Isn't birch beer white and sasparilla brown (root beer color)?

I could be mixing them all up, but I like them all!

Birch Beer is kinda reddish - I've hooked my 'born in the midwest' children on it.

Whomever is having the pork roll and egg sandwich on a hard roll for breakfast - I'm happy for you, and at the same time, so jealous :teeth: !
