Daisy great question! I feel guilty a lot of time over what I spend and I HATE it. I have a good job, I make a very good salary. When I had my son just over 2 years ago, we decided my DH would quit and stay home to take care of my son. We figured if we buckled down we could do it. Well, we didn't really buckle down!! And we blew through some money we had inherited (ok, in all fairness, we did pay off both cars and pretty much eliminated our debt other than our mortgage but we certainly took a few too many liberties with that money).
I have really only been tracking my spending this month and really don't feel like have deprived us of anything. We still hit the local ice cream stand once in a while, we got takeout last night just cause we felt like it. But the guilt is still there if it is something for ME. I am expecting #2 right now and had no summer maternity clothes. I felt awful when I ordered stuff from Walmart that only cost me $20. It's insane to me to feel bad when I spend on items I need. But I do.
I agree with Virgderon I need to find a balance between how I used to spend and how I feel like I should now spend. It's hard but I think I am getting there!
