I got a pink one ordered at Etoys early yesterday morning but it looked like they went OOS within minutes.

We're headed out today tv shopping, I'll keep an eye out in the stores.

Although I'm sorry for those who are searching, I'm glad the Pink's are proving popular - it's great that they are finally recognizing the girl-gamer market. Something tells me we are going to see more games in that vein by next Christmas, now that it is proving so financially popular for them.

Same with the GBA SP. I only saw one Black Friday ad, I think it was at Circuit City for $49.99. Everywhere else they were the usual $79.99.
Really surprised me. Can't see them being big sellers anymore either.

No deals on the DS Lite at all, they were all $129.99 which is the regular price.

The GBA is still the second best selling videogame system in the country. It outsells the PS2, XBox 360, etc., etc. Only the DS outsells it.

Well, that's actually good to hear. My oldest DD didn't ask for a DS lite, but did ask for several GBA games. As long as they are still popular, they will continue supporting it with good games. Still would have been nice to get it super cheap though! :-)

I bought two DS Lites back in Nov, pink and white, because someone suggested the pink, especially, might be hard to come by.

Since there haven't been any "deals", I am glad I purchased early. Also, I had trouble finding two games for the kids as well. Finally found them and glad I ordered them at the time too, otherwise I might not have had them for XMas. DS, 9, would have been very disappointed. He still "believes", and really wanted the one game. It would have been terrible if Santa couldn't deliver! Everyones done, and the first year I've been done so early; it is a really nice feeling.

I've just seen this thread. We are coming to WDW from Ireland 14th December through 2nd January and I was hoping to get a Pink DS Lite for my daughter when I am there. It doesn't have to be for Christmas so does anyone think I have any change of getting one during our trip???

Anyone on this thread have an opinion on the Nintendo Wii system :confused3

We lucked into purchasing one for my DS (13) but now I'm not so sure about it. He has a PS2, GBA, DS at home and a GC at grandmas so it's not like he doesn't have a game system :teeth: :lmao:

However this is a totally new thing. We got to try a couple games at the mall this weekend at a 6 way mall display and it was neat.

Not sure what to do though :confused3

Are there any zelda games for the DS. My DS asked santa for the Phantom Hourglass - but this does not appear to be available until 2007 even though the Nintendo website has a trailer of the game running with "2006" as its release date.

I love my Wii. :) I'm having a great time with it! I stopped playing the Zelda games when they went 3-D because I just didn't like all the button mashing and such...but wow, I'm having so much fun playing the new one. It's so simple - you control the movement with the nunchuck in one hand, and use the remote in the other hand. It's so natural.

I've also had a very large variety of people try out Wii sports - including some senior citizens who couldn't get enough of it. I have people that haven't played anything more complicated than an Atari game or can barely use an ATM kicking my butt at bowling, LOL. It's really fun to get several people playing at once. The controllers are getting very hard to find (just got a call from Dell that mine are delayed until at least the 18th), but if you can get one extra one you can play multiplayer on all the Wii sports games.

It's really a hoot for everyone - I'm addicted to bowling. I also signed for the Gamefly rental service and already got my first games so I'm not spending $50 a whack to try out new ones, since none of my local rental places carry them yet. I've got Zelda and Marvel Alliance now - I'm going to buy Zelda I like it so much, but I think Marvel may just be a rental for me for now (great game though). (And, as I posted above - if anyone wants to sign up with Gamefly, please send me a PM first so I can send you my friend code; I'm trying to earn a DS Lite for someone special.)

Actually, it was confirmed in the last day or so that Phantom Hourglass won't be out until at least Oct 07, sadly. Like all Zelda games, it's being delayed LOL.

There aren't any DS Zelda's, but there is a GBA one that is a remake of the original A Link to the Past, the best SNES game ever made. I believe it's called "Four Swords Adventures" or something like that. Great game, and can be played on the DS of course.

If your son likes Zelda games, he might enjoy either the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game, or the new Dragon Warrior game. Both are pretty immersive games with RPG elements.

Good luck!

Our wii arrived Saturday and it's been going non-stop ever since. And this ol' mom who has never tried any gaming system loves it! I can do it! It's simple, fun and you even get a little exercise (at least the way my DD4 boxes - she does this cute little dance while doing it). My DS and his friends are loving it, my older DD10 and her friends are loving it. Two different groups of parents have called us asking where to get one. Uh, good luck!

I can't imagine anyone not loving it. My DH's coworker has brought his to work sevaral times so they could have tournaments. My kids love it, I love it. The only demographic we're missing is the teenagers. I'll let you know in a couple of years...

The bad news, one of the controllers arrived damaged. We've only had one and wish we had more. They can't replace it for a couple of weeks so DS's birthday (12/21) party won't be as cool as we'd hoped. DH is looking for another controller anywhere, but so far, no luck.

When we were in WDW I saw a girl with a DS lite and she had something attahced to it that held her games. It looked like one of those climbing carabeners (sp?) with little plastic tabs attached to each of her games that hung off of it. Anyone know if this is somthing you can purchase?

Also, anyone know anything about the Lionel Trains game? DS#1 seems to be really into trains lately and i thought this might be neat (and chaper than a real Lionel train set :rotfl: )

I have a 7 and 4 year old. We just learned about cheat codes, we have 2 GBA. Do you have to enter the cheat codes every time you play the game?

Well, I have a slight tale of woe. My ds took an angel off the tree at church Sunday, with items on it for an 11 yr. old girl. We have to bring everything back next Sunday. I searched all over yesterday, but could not find the pink ds lite she requested. I did get everything else on the list, including the Hannah Montana ds game. I ended up buying a white one, and I'm hoping I can find a pink "skin". I feel so bad because this poor kid really deserves to have a great Christmas, I'm hoping the fact that she's getting a ds lite, even though it's not pink, will still make her day. Would your child be happy with a different color? I think mine would. Ds is getting a black one, I'm really glad I picked it up as soon as I saw it -- but I don't think he'd complain too much if it wasn't black.

I'm sure that this little girl isn't really expecting to get a DS so I'm sure she will be tickled pink with any color she gets!

Wow! That sounds pretty cool--I wonder what it was?

We've decided to go ahead and give my DS (13) the Wii system for Xmas. We lucked into purchasing an extra remote now we are just looking for an extra numchuck (sp).

I've heard Zelda is the game to go with. Anyone heard anything different?

Looks like I won't get my DS for Christmas - Amazon had it listed as coming next week and now they don't think they'll have them. I am now waiting for a call back to tell me when they might have more in stock. Very disappointed and now I can't find one anywhere at all - might have had a chance had I known this a month ago! :badpc:

Does anyone know how long I'll need to charge the DSLite? I'd like to have them all ready to go for the girls on Christmas morning!

I also would love any recommendations on a case... I really need to get one, but since this is our first video game ever, I am not sure what to look for.

Thanks a million!!

Were you able to back order it? I ordered the white DS around midnight on Tuesday night when it was listed as "in stock soon." We received it today, Thursday. I'm going to have to send Amazon a big letter of thanks tomorrow.

I agree! It sounds like someone is getting a very special present - and although color choice is great and all, it's really all about the games! I'm sure that little girl will be thrilled no matter what the color.

Great decision! And yes, Zelda is a great game. I know the N64 Zelda games were popular, but they didn't really do it for me, so I was skeptical. However, I'm really enjoying it. There is also a great PDF guide available from Gamespot (also available at GameFaqs.com) that I've found invaluable. I just refuse to spend the money on a $15 book just to play the game, and since the Gamespot one is in PDF and even has pics so far I have been just fine with the free version. :)

I believe they say in the manual that the first charge should be like 6-8 hours...whatever number they recommend, I know they want you to charge it longer for the first time. You can't overcharge it, so just leave it plugged in overnight just to be on the safe side. Good thinking ahead!

As to case, it's going to depend on where you are taking it. You really can't go wrong as long as you find one that fits whatever accessories you think you'll need. Personally, I have several - one very small "shell" one for taking on airplanes and such (just holds my DS and a couple of games), and another that holds the car charger, AC adaptor, etc. when I'm taking the whole kit and caboodle somewhere.

Congrats! Crossing my fingers for you that it arrives safely!

Good luck everyone!
