The Bacon strikes again! Bouncin' back in Sept! UPDATE: We're back! What a trip! p43

More veggies

PICTURES876.jpg

They were all put into the mesh bags so they could be put into the pots to boil.

If anyone reading this has been to a crawfish boil, you know they usually purge the crawfish first, but in this case, they put the icechests by the bay, and put a hose in there running constant water through. It worked really well though because those crawfish were CLEAN.

I just had to take a pic of this---they lost a dog years ago so that’s why they got this

Speaking of dogs, I think the preparations were wearing Puff out
PICTURES849.jpg

I’ve got to throw in that picture again, it was just SUCH a beautiful day!
PICTURES846.jpg

I took some cool close-up pictures of the veggies, and some of crawfish, that I want to compile into some type of abstract collage.

And with that, I just realized that I am missing some pictures! :headache:

So I will have to finish this day when I can find the ones I am missing and put them into photobucket. I hope I can do that for y’all this evening!

BTW I had my bloodwork done today to check my thyroid, and I should have the results of those tests by Friday! Yippee!!

Great purchases!!! I Love the Pooh shirt!!!

All your dressy shirts are super cute as well:cutie:

I like those paper towel holders on all the tables.

The view there was gorgeous.:)

Crawfish....you actually ate those:faint:

Can you tell I am a Northerner :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

okay being from the north and only seeing pictures of a craw fish boil, i have a few questions.

Number 1, are those crawfish alive? when you put them in there.

number 2
i noticed many pots, does each pot get the same thing, just many pots because you had so much to boil?

number 3.
how many of those suckers do you usually eat, is there that much meat on them, and seems like a ton of them, are they expensive.

number 4, well more like number 6 since the last question had a few questions in it.
does that seasonig get put right in witht he water when it is boiling? or is that dry seasonings added afterwards.

okay that is all

i will be back tomorrow for your response, have a good night.

Wow, you were busy while I was gone.:faint:

I second all of Dan's questions. I just cannot ever see myself eating something that looks like that. They look like bugs!!!

Yeah, it was REALLY nice. I can't wait to go back again

yes, I ate them and I'd do it again ;)

yes, I can tell!

1) yes, they ARE alive when we put them in. We are torturing the poor things, how horrible of us. :bitelip:

2) We had a lot of pots because there was so much to boil. However, there was one pot full of veggies in this case, because of so many veggies. Normally, if you're only doing a sack or two of crawfish, you'd have one big pot, put the crawfish in first, then the veggies a few minutes later, depending on the type of veggies.

3) a. I can eat a few pounds of them. I'm sorry but I couldn't tell you how many that is. b. You only eat the tails of them. Some people suck the heads to get the juice out, and that is pretty good too. I prefer to suck from the claw because you get all the juice and none of the guts. c. They start out pretty expensive at the beginning of the season. Then they go down to about $1.50/pound boiled or 99 cents/pound live . Before Hurricane Katrina, we were getting them for 99 cents a pound BOILED. There are probably still some places you can get them at that price on special, but you have to keep an eye out.

4) the seasoning gets put in before you boil. Just for a little extra information, we put the crawfish in, let them come to a rolling boil, and usually turn them off at that point and they soak for at least 15 to 20 minutes. I'm sure people soak them at different ranges of time. The longer they soak, usually the spicier they are.

I hope I sufficiently answered your questions, and maybe I have educated lots other people in the process.

You won't be back til tomorrow? Guess you are busy now with little Parker...

oh another question I see :rotfl2:

They taste like crawfish. :lmao: Uhh...they taste like seafood...they are not fishy tasting. More like shrimp than anything else. I've tasted shrimp in the past that have tasted a lot like crawfish because they were boiled in a similar way.

Wow, you were busy while I was gone.:faint:

I second all of Dan's questions. I just cannot ever see myself eating something that looks like that. They look like bugs!!!

answered above :goodvibes

They are not bugs...:rotfl:

What's that sound? It's my stomach growling

you like crawfish?

I love all seafood...okay...the bottom dwellers. I love me some bottom dwellers.

i see, tortue crawfish, gotcha, do they scream when they are being cooked.

I am guessing that it is not a knife and fork kinda thing, more like a chicken leg kinda thing...i bet you dont reheat them do you if you have any left over?

so you suck the meat out? they should make a movie on this it is fascinating me.

yep yo uanswered all of those questions, now help me out with those other ones.

taste like crawfish huh..:rolleyes1 i would try them, maybe i will have a boil in my backyard, how many do you think i could get in my soup pot.:thumbsup2

no they don't scream, not that I can hear. ;)

Oh no, no knife and fork :lmao: Nope, we eat 'em cold if there are leftovers. And they are pretty good that way too. But NOTHING beats hot and juicy crawfish right from the pot.

Nope, you have to peel the tail. I bet you could do a search on youtube and find a video of how to peel a crawfish. I can't get on youtube here. Let me know if you find anything good.

You could maybe get 10 pounds in there. :rotfl2:

HEY!!!!

Found ya!

LOVE the bacon story that is freakin' hilairous!!!!!!!! :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

I'm a southern girl but not a Louisiana girl....I have had crawfish and DON'T :worried: like them, but I can only imagine how much fun a crawfish boil would be ::yes::

Can't wait to go back and read more!

Crawfish Cleaning

wow, I thought he started off all professional, but he sure didn't do a great job of peeling that crawfish tail. He probably should have peeled back more shell, then it would have popped right out. Just so you know, we don't struggle with them like that normally. :lmao:

nice job finding a video though :thumbsup2

He was right about the tail being out, we don't eat those

hey glad you found me! I still need to read your PM and reply...

I can't imagine...I just LOVE them!

glad you liked the story. She is a trip!

Great pictures from the Crawfish Boil. I don't think I'd ever eat them. I'm not a seafood type of person....I only like popcorn shrimp and that's cause I can put ketchup on them :rotfl:

I love the paper towel holders on the tables.

Oh and that "car" thing looks awesome!! What the heck is that thing!?

Yeah the really good ones that showed and talked about it good, were kinda blurry.

some of the videos said that when the tail is straight tha means it was dead befor it cooked, and that it is poisonous, is this really true.

I finally caught up. All that talk of crawfish is making my hungry. Maybe I will check and see if they have any at the seafood place by my house on the way home. :thumbsup2

thanks! there are PLENTY more pictures of the boil...I just have to decide which ones I want to post.

Ketchup on shrimp is good...

hmmm...I don't know...does it make it's way back so we can get a closer view? :confused3 ;)

I have never heard that it was "poisonous" per se, but it does mean that the crawfish was dead when it was put into the pot to boil. I think it's because when the crawfish are alive and put into the boiling water, they die instantly which makes their tails curl. That's just my own personal philosophy though.

ooh didja get some? :hyper:

finally read the WHOLE thing...subscribing so I don't miss anything else!

BTW I have more purchases! DISNEY purchases!!!
