The Bachelor 17 Sean Lowe NO SPOILERS

Sorry, it might be a harsh word, but YES, cruel.

Seriously, a girl with one arm doing roller derby, Polar Ice Plunge, eating bugs, on and on and on and on.

It is like how much total control can the man take, and how far can he get a woman to go, and what healthy personal boundaries can he get them to cross, or completely abandon.

Cruel, Warped, Inappropriate in every way.

Seriously, ABC should be ashamed.

My reply to half of those 'challenges'....
Including the polar ice plunge and eating bugs....
Sorry, but NO.... And if how you feel about me and our relationship is affected by whether I eat bugs or not... Then I AM JUST NOT 'THE ONE'.

:lmao:And you think Sean is the one who came up with those dates?? No, the idiot producers are the ones who do. It's probably written into the Bachelor's contract. Look at the corny date cards too, no way Sean wrote those out.

I think that's a little harsh. Sean is 29, Ashlee 32 (plus 3), Lindsey 24 (minus 5) and Cathererine 26 (minus 3). Those are all reasonable age differences for relationships.

I think Ashlee harps on the abandonment issue a bit toooooo much but I am thinking maybe just the producers keep asking her those questions and leading her interviews in that direction. She has made it very clear she loves and appreciates her adoptive parents and that did happen at age 6 so she has had many stable years with them and yes I understand that doesn't erase her earlier memories and fears.

Yes, I agree, the producers have probably been encouraging (scripting) as big a deal out of this as possible.

However, in this case, that doesn't mean that the issue itself is not very real.

Ohhh good lord.... you don't have to be disrespectful and ignorant and post 'laughing at you' icons.

I did NOT say that Sean came up with every one of those dates.
I said ABC and the producers should be ashamed.

I am the one who has posted many times, on every single Bachelor/ette thread that this show is incredibly scripted.
Look at my post above, which actually mentions scripting, which I was typing even before your post had come thru.

That does NOT change my opinion.

Yes, ABC and the producers should be VERY ashamed of themselves.

But, that also doesn't erase the fact that Sean is an emotional/psychological level of a 12 year old, and the producers are just running with that.

He doesn't look TOO forced into these dates and challenges.
I am sure that the producers didn't force SEAN and his entire family at legal/contractual gunpoint to get them to all go along with that warped practical joke that he played on Emily.

Since we met Sean on his first season, many of us have posted this observation.

I wasn't laughing at YOU, I was talking about how stupid and laughable the dates are because of the producers, not Sean.

I have wondered who comes up with these activities. Does ABC dream them up or does the bachelor have much say so? I figure they have to have some say so, last year Emily didn't do all of these crazy stunts. I personally don't get it. Is Sean some really hardcore adrenaline junkie and he has to make sure his wife is into the same? Or do they just want to see how far these people will go?

I find it interesting that Catherine was the only date that didn't include having to do something crazy (no way would I have eaten those bugs or swam into that cave!). Their date was relaxed and fun. I noticed too that with the other girls, they are still trying to impress Sean, but it seems to me with Catherine that he is trying to impress her. He really is different with her than the others.

First of all, I am really surprised that everyone is thinking Ashley was/is crazy or intense or needy. I feel that was all editing and that she went on about the ring because he totally led her on.

When she left, I thought "Good for her", finally someone not begging and crying and leaving with their dignity intact. I feel he must have totally led her on for her to act like that. I wish she hadn't spoken to him at all.

I have no hope for the last two.

I was wondering how Sean could guarantee Ashlee's safety in that dark watery cave?:confused3 Is he an expert spelunker now too? He kept telling her just to trust him like he had some insider knowledge or amazing watery death cave navigation skills.

No way would my husband of 10 years get me to go in there, no Matter how much I trust him. I got anxiety just watching them swim in there!

His insider knowledge was that the camera crew would save them if something happened. And, then they could re-shoot it.

Yes, good points!!!! Especially about Katherine's dates....
I noticed that too.
The others have to swim thru dark caves, etc... While Katherine gets a nice enjoyable boat ride... It was a striking difference. I do have to admit that I wondered about the 'boring' factor. Wouldn't a guy like Sean find that more boring after a while????

I do think that it is a combination of the Bachelor and the producers.
The producers definitely look at what they have to work with, and use that to script and conjure up as much :scared: and drama as possible. It's ALL ratings.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yep, like they were really, like, all alone, in the middle of a 5 mile long, pitch black, bat and shark infested cave....

They do insult our intelligence!!!!!
I hate it when they do that!

I agree! I think he will choose Catherine.

I like Catherine the best, but I think he's going to choose Lindsay. Or ... it will be the most shocking Bachelor Rose Ceremony ever (!) and he kicks them both to the curb and chooses one of his previous rejects.

....if we're lucky - Tierra.

I disagree. Ashlee knew going in what this show was all about, competing with 24 other women for one man knowing that in the end he could send you home. If you think Ashlee was the only one of the 3 left who would've challenged him, I disagree again. She would've turned herself into anything he wanted, just to be with him because she is needy and terrified of being abandoned again.

I don't think this season is cruel.:confused3 Sean seems pretty genuine if you ask me. Sure, he's more traditional in his views and I personally find that refreshing. And of course he calls them girls, they are. Not sure why you'd take offense to that unless perhaps you find it demeaning. I call my over 40 year old girlfriends girls.;)

....they should have just renamed the snow Fear Factor Bachelor....

I'm more looking forward to the WTA next week than the 3 hour finale the week after!! :rotfl:

I just watched last night's episode online and I found myself cringing quite a bit........ It sure seemed like Sean was leading all 3 women on in almost exactly the same way (Catherine & Lindsay anyway). :headache:

Jeafl, you just posted a spoiler in your first post, last paragraph. :(

I am SO sorry! I didn't think it was a spolier because I thought Sean mentioned it on the Sean tells All show. Maybe I am confused, but I am really sorry!

Good point! :thumbsup2 All of Brad's dates were the same with Emily and he ended up picking her in the end. Even she has said at the ATFR that she came off boring on the show as they just sat around on all their dates while he was rappelling off of cliffs with the other girls. Brad even lade poor Chantal go shark swimming on their final date before he dumped her.

I wonder if the producers ask him early on if he's leaning toward any one gal and when he indicates one, they tone down the daredevil stunts & save them for the other girls? :scratchin

His insider knowledge was that the camera crew would save them if something happened. And, then they could re-shoot it.

Or she'd be the one who doesn't get the final rose as she's in the hospital & off the show. :lmao:

.....I was being snarky. popcorn::

75,869+ posts and people still can't figure you out. :p

Like now this time you are serious! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Jimmy Kimmel had a clip on it the other nite. They haven't loaded it onto YouTube yet. But they clipped what he said to each girl. And in them ALL he said he can see them as his future wife and creating a future together.

Jeafl said:
Of course! I am really sorry. I thought Sean mentioned he was engaged on the Sean Tells All episode. I could be confused though, and will be more careful. In the future!

Oh! You may be right! I accidentally found out a couple weeks ago as it was on the cover of a tabloid magazine that he was engaged. I usually don't pay attention to them, but this one was right at eye level at the register. :headache: So, if he had said it on his Tell All show, it hadn't registered with me. I know a few weeks ago, some women on the thread said they didn't even want to know that, even though, before Brad started the trend of not picking either girl, we were always told ahead of time if the Bachelor was engaged.

Sorry. Nevermind! :flower3: :goodvibes

FWIW
I've been reading his sister's blog and she said that HE gets to pick all the things to do on the dates. He wants someone adventurous. Now, to me it seems like a test..."if you do this, you'll stay in the running"
