We had to get a new washer and dryer last night. The store we bought it at carried everything from some of the least expensive models all the way to some of the top models.

OK, I'll put it in a poll. You guess what he said. After I get 25 votes - if I do - I will post the correct answer.

Your answer should be based on buying BOTH pieces at the same time.

OK, I posted what he said in post #12....

Top loader or front loader? This can make a difference.

ETA: I voted based on being a front loader. I said $2000-$2500.

Ooops...I didn't read the full instructions before voting. LOL. I'm guessing Per item they're about 1000$...so about 2000$ for both. We just bought a new washer and dryer too, front loaders. Their original prices were just about 1000 each, but we got them on Black Friday!

I'm guessing it was not good news since it inspired a poll. I'm curious to know the right answer.

We got a nice front load washer and front load dryer last year's black friday for $699 total. I love them. best washer and dryer I've ever had. fast cycles and quiet!:goodvibes

Well, we bought a top loader and let's just say the price shocked the heck out of me.

I can't vote because around her a top loader washer/dryer set would go for $800 or less for a nice set. Our set cost that 15 years ago when we bought it. A front loading SET would go for about $1200-1500 with the pedestals. We could have gotten a set for $600 TOTAL on Black Friday.

It can be quite a shock if you haven't needed one in more than 7 years. :lmao:
We replaced ours 2 years ago and the conversation went like this.

Me: Hi, I'm interested in a new washer machine
Salesman: We have this lovely new model from Maytag with all the bells and whistles for $1250.00
Me: Oh you misunderstood me, I only need a new washer.
Salesman: Ma,am that is the price for the washer only. The matching dryer is $800 bucks more.
Me: :faint:

That's pretty darn close!

LOL, when he started showing us the washers and dryers with the price, I said: "Oh, we're not looking for commercial washers and dryers!"....

But in all seriousness, we did have an idea what we were going to spend, and we ended up within $150 of what we expected... but they sort of "make" you buy new cords and new vent stuff... that added $55 - $60 to the total.

OK, so the guy told us that the average washer and dryer pair in his store was $1675!!!! And remember, he carried the less expensive stuff as well.

We bought a new washer and dryer last year. I did a lot of research on line before going to the store. We ended up buying from Sears and they matched the sale price from Best Buy plus 10% on the washer. The matching dryer current year model was being discontinued and they only had the floor model to sell. They gave us a great deal on that. We ended up getting the top loading washer and dryer for ~$1500.

Boy, something must be wrong with our white trash Kenmoor's from Sear's we bought in 2004 for $800 combined that still work just fine...

See, that is the thing. Awesome for you. :thumbsup2 But when we bought ours only 7 - 8 years ago, we paid $1400 for the pair, which I thought was ridicuolus... and we have to replace ours already.

The drum in my dryer cracked and now there is a 3" long by 1" wide hole in my dryer. Every salesperson I ever heard of had never heard of that cracking. And the washer's logic board already went twice.... once in warranty, and then once out of warranty.

I'm with you. I would rather spend less.

There were some pretty nice deals on front load washer/dryer sets on Black Friday. All the stores had at least one set for $1000...I ended up buying a front-load washer from Home Depot online for $600 that was a nicer model than what was on sale in the store (my dryer is less than 5 years old so I couldn't justify buying the dryer too).
