The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

Re the sharing of the cab with rob/amber and the boyfriends...Someone earlier pointed out, and I agree, that maybe rob thought it was a bus. He asked the driver when the door opened if it was a bus. I just found it strange that Rob would fight to share a cab with the boyfriends...something just doesn't seem right there. Maybe he didn't realize it was a cab. I wish I would have taped the show because I really agree with the other DISer that mentioned that Rob may have thought it was a bus. :confused3 I dunno.

I really didn't get the point of this post? was it to show that everyone thinks ray and deana are jerks?
No.
I was responding to this post by Quilt Teddy:

He even went on to talk to the camera about not "prolonging their misery". (Or something very close to those words.) No one's bashing them for not "donating" to Meredith/Gretchen.
She said no one bashed Ray and Deana for not contributing to M/G. I figured she didn't go back and read all of the responses or she missed them due to this thread moving fast. My post was to show that people were disgusted with Ray's behavior and did post about it. He and Deana and their behavior are the second hottest topic on this thread after Rob and Amber.

Love the Amazing Race, have watched since the first one... first time jumping into this thread.

I was sooo happy to see Ray & Deana go. I was on the edge of my seat wanting the Brothers to win that footrace! Ray was a mean-spirited person and I for one am so happy that the team he so loved to bash beat him, I was glad it wasn't them in the footrace to the mat against them though. You know Ray & Deana would have won that one and imagine all he would have had to say then. First to last place, see ya Ray!

I did not think Merideth & Gretchen would still be around at this point, that is not saying I want them gone, it just seems the older teams seem to tire out before this point. My DH and I liked her from the first episode when she was trying to get to the airport and she kept saying "gosh darn-it". :rotfl:

Rob & Amber: I did not like them on Survivor, but I have warmed up to them on AR. I tend to dis-trust controlling and manipulative men like Rob. He could be a nice guy, but the way he comes across bothers me personally. BUT, I do find myself laughing at some of his antics... one thing that he does do that really bothers me is the "do unto others, just don't try it with me" attitude.

Uchenna & Joyce: I really like them, I thought it would have been neat if the show had made it possible for all teams to spend more time at the Children's Home. Like adding to the instructions "after delivering the goods, turn over the hourglass and stay until the sand is gone". Something along those lines, it would have been interesting who would have played and enjoyed their time and who would have been watching the sand so they could leave.

Lynn & Alex: Don't really care for their attitude either, most of their comments are uncalled for. They need to worry more about themselves and stop bashing the others.

Brothers: Love them! Hope either they or Uchenna & Joyce win. I felt they were very upset over the accident, even saying a prayer for the injured crew member after getting back on their way.

I think it would be great to do an All-Stars AR, although I wonder how many couples still are couples. I remember seeing one half of the Riechen/Chip team on Fear Factor and he said they were no longer together... so maybe some of the favs wouldn't even be available to do another show.

Before Rob stopped the cab, he did comment that he saw people getting into a blue bus. However, once he opened the door and was told it was a cab, he shouldn't have been surprised when Alex and Lynn told him there wasn't room. Honestly, how could Rob expect any of the other teams to be willing to share anything with him and Amber after the way they've behaved. I noticed Rob was quite pleased with himself that he wasn't going to give Gretchen and Meredith any money.

Deana's eye was looking odd at the end of the 5th leg - when they won the cars. I thought at first she was just squinting or something but noticed it still looked a bit swollen and was always almost closed in the 6th leg, I'm thinking it must be from something else, such as an allergy as someone suggested.

Deana's eye was closed after the first leg last night. At first I thought she was just squinting from the sun in her eyes, but she did it again later. I didn't think of allergies, I thought maybe she had contacts trouble. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Ray hitting her in the head.
OMG! Lynn and Alex-Chip and Dale! That's very funny!
I don't think Rob and Amber were as full of themselves last night as they usually are. IMO, that made them much easier to watch and enjoy. Things didn't go as well and the playing field evened out a bit. I did LOL at the girl helping Amber in the market. I do agree that there is no way Amber would have made it out of there without help. I think Rob realized that, too.

I don't know why, but they remind me of Chip and Dale. :teeth: .

Uchenna and Joyce...
Why are they always the ones getting lost or delayed? I felt sorry for them a couple of times last night.
I agree. I felt bad that they and Ron and Kelly had to check their bags. [/QUOTE]

Brian and Greg...
Currently my favorite team. I like their attitude. I hope they win it all.
I love them too. They're fun loving and seem like nice guys.

Rob asked the driver if it was a bus, at least once if not twice. I did TiVO it and can look back tonight.

I just want to take a look at comments that Lynn made to Alex while driving through Johannesburg. People seem to be upset about what they said, so I reviewed my ReplayTV recording to try to understand why.

Lynn and Alex make a wrong turn (twice!) and end up off the highway and are driving though a rough area of Johannesburg. Johannesburg is known for its high crime and car jackings.

So, exactly what did you find troubling in that segment? The comarison to a high crime area in Africa to one in America? The fact that Lynn commented that someone looked like Tupac? Something else?

I hadn't noticed those comments--and they did look like they were in a bad area...

There comment when they arrived in Africa in the first place ranked up their with a Kendra-ism.

Wasn't that in the Johannesburg set-up read by Phil? How a shanty town has now become a thriving city? Can anyone really say that they wouldn't be scared driving through a seedy area like that? I'm a city girl who grew up in Chicago and I would have rolled my windows up and locked my doors a whole lot sooner!

There rude comment about Johannesburg was made when they first arrived by plane and they were not in a seedy part of town.

It is unrelated to when they got lost on their way to the airport.

The comment seemed as though the expected to end up where Kendra did on her team's first stop in Africa--absolute poverty and in the middle of nowhere. I think they were expecting something like that and they made their comment.

I'd be happy as a clam if any ONE of the teams who do not show how much of an *** they can be would win.

That excludes the boyfriends, and Rob and Amber, now that Ray and Deana are gone.

Between the cattiness of the boyfriends, and the arrogance of Rob - ugh!

Rolling down the window and asking if everyone was OK would not have cost them a thing. You know these people, even if only slightly. If you saw someone you knew on the side of the road, with someone obviously hurt, would you just keep going, even if there was nothing you could do? Or would you at least ask if they were OK?

Between that, and Rob suggesting that Meredith pushed Gretchen for the sympathy...ugh! C'mon Rob, why don't you push Amber - it's not like she's adding anything.

I'm sure he meant that as a joke...I know I didn't take him seriously.
I do agree that at least they should have slowed to ask if everyone was okay after the accident, but I can understand why they didn't.

I'm sorry, but after last season with Jonathan, even SUGGESTING that a husband shove a wife is just not funny.

I don't think Lynn and Alex meant any disrespect by the first comment in Johannesburg. I think they were surprised that it was, indeed, a regular city. They appeared to be expecting "Africa" like you see in the movies-jungles and wild animals.
As for the comments in the seedier part of town, I would have been afraid too. Heck, we drove through a bad part of Baltimore (got lost) and had pretty much the same reaction. We made sure the doors were locked and kept the windows rolled up. Yes, we were afraid. Although I don't think DH or I mentioned Tupac.
I do think Rob's comment about Meredith pushing Gretchen was a joke, not a great idea and totally poor timing, but a joke none the less. I'm not defending what he said, just my opinion.

I am a HUGE Rob & Amber fan in case you can't tell, but I was a little disappointed that they didn't slow down and ask if everyone was OK. That being said, I can kindof understand why they didn't stop. EVERYONE on this race hates them and treats them like lepers especially Lynn & Alex. If Rob saw them standing there and thought it was their suv that wrecked, I can certainly understand him not stopping.
As far as him trying to get into Lynn & Alex's taxi, he clearly thought it was a bus.

Gretchen & Meredith have gotten on my nerves so far, but I was REALLY impressed last night when Gretchen told him to stop worrying about her and find the clue. I was glad they didn't get eliminated on that leg.

I'm liking the brothers more and more. They seem so fun and I'm so glad they weren't hurt in the wreck. If Rob and Amber can't win I hope the brothers do.

Rob and Amber weren't the only ones that didn't stop and ask. There were two couples at the end. They were Meredith and Gretchen and then Uchenny and his wife. They were one behind the other. Only one car slowed down and asked if everything was okay and that was Meridith. Uchenny did not ask anything at all. I even looked back on my Tivo and Uchenny just kept going.

I thought by this point the brothers were standing away from the truck motioning for everyone to go on.

I didn't see the brothers motioning anyone. Uchenna did the same thing that Rob and Amber did. They kept on driving. It's funny how some like to slam Rob and Amber and conveniently ignore the fact that another couple did the same thing.

I didn't realize Joyce and Uchenna did the same thing. If they did, I feel the same way about them. I still believe I remember seeing one of the brothers motioning to *someone* to continue on. Did anyone else see this?

:rotfl2: You really believe they would have stop?
The Jerk is so downright cocky that he would have kept right on going & Amber doesn't seem to be able to think for herself so she would have just gone along with it. :)

Exactly!!!!!!!!!

There is a clip of the brothers waving people on. However, with the beauty of editing, I can't say who is in the truck. Gotta love editing! I am sure CBS is loving the emotions they are stirring up with this season's AR.

I know someone mentioned Ray and Deana were on the Early Show this morning but I didn't see this mentioned....

THEY ARE GETTING MARRIED! :scared1: Deana said they got engaged at Christmas and are getting married in May. Good luck to those 2! :rolleyes1
